Golf is known as a gentleman's game, while RnR is for the bad boys. That doesn't mean there aren't golfers that live rock star lifestyles, it's just a different perception to live up to publicly, rather than feeling obligated to trash a hotel room or throw a TV of a balcony. Simply put, bad behavior is expected in RnR and frowned upon in golf. Furthermore, Woods marketed himse

QuotePalace Revolution 2000 What was the other huge British band being considered? Led Zeppelin? I'm sure it was, but they weren't available to play as Plant was in a wheel chair recovering for a car accident.

Count me as one of those that would be thrilled to see GHS get the deluxe treatment...and Some Girls is a no-brainer with the plothora of material from those sessions. It would be great to have the full-length versions of those songs as well. Btw, can somebody email me info on how to get Stones boots. I stopped collecting about 10 years ago and no longer have any contacts. ajc6

Ironically, I heard Melody today on SuriusXM Deep Tracks after reading this thread. That's a song I usually skip when picking through the album, but it was fun to hear as a stand alone mixed in with other music. As I mentioned earlier, I think these songs stand on their own better than as an album since the musical styles are all over the map. Hell, I heard Hey Negrita at John Lee Hooker

When GnR arrived on the national scene in 1987 they were hyped as the new Stones, but that had more to do with their outlaw image and similar band structure (five members, two guitarists, and the Axl, Slash variable).

If I recall correctly, Bon was just a few days away from laying down the vocals on what turned out to be the Back in Black album. He had his notebook filled with lyrics and was waiting for the backing tracks to be completed. Enter Brian Johnson and he's given this gift of music to work with and the pressure to replace a legend (perhaps before he was fully acknowledged as one). There were urb

The cover is one of my favorites. The album is inconsistent because of the various musical styles, and the auditioning three different guitarists, but I love several of the tracks as stand-alones. And how about the leftovers... Worried About You, Slave and Too Tough.

I've been wondering where his back catalog is too. It has been in need of an overhaul for years now, and has all but disappeared off the shelves. I'm surprised with how active he still is that it hasn't been addressed already.

QuoteThe Sicilian Especially the UK version, most the songs on it are weak and cheesy. Surely you jest... I'm a big fan of this album, especially the UK version where you don't have to listen to the two warhorses the other great songs.

Also, I didn't see anyone

Quoteskipstone Mick does indeed have some fantastic vocals on UNDERCOVER. She Was Hot and Tie You Up are outstanding. Feel On Baby is good too, sort of in the same vein as Down In The Hole almost. UNDERCOVER would have been a great album had they dirtied up the production. It's just too slick for a Stones album. And with the lyrical content it just begs to be a lot rawer and rougher around t

Quoteskipstone This guy doesn't know what he's talking about, the entire Beatles catalogue being remixed. HA! Yep, Mick was right. Let It Be (Naked) was remixed and the new remasters were not. The interviewer has no idea what he's talking about.

This is a fascinating interview. Unfortunately, the interviewer keeps interrupting Jagger every time he was about to say something interesting about Exile. I wonder which book Jagger picked up. I've been wanting to get one with all the recording dates, including the outtakes, etc. Any suggestions?

I thought the last time CBS had the Super Bowl they should have had The WHO perform the three CSI Themes (Who Are You, Baba O'Riley and Won't Get Fooled Again). That would have filled up the 20 min. set perfectly. They may have even been able to squeeze in Pinball Wizard. Anyway, The WHO is just about it for me, but I'm petrified of this performance. While it's a great chance

I'm shocked at the negative responses in this thread. I've been hearing for years how cool would it be to get Taylor back in some capacity, even if it was just the Mick's talking again. Well? If the reports are true, they are not tampering with the original album, something that WOULD and SHOULD draw criticism. Rather, they are trying to touch up some basic tracks that are too roug

Rolling Stones prepping " Exile" box set Keith Richards shed some light on the upcoming box set edition of the Rolling Stones 1972 double-album masterpiece Exile On Main Street. The collection is the first time the Stones have officially sanctioned an archival release from their vaults. Richards told Rolling Stone that he and Mick Jagger are currently in the studio sifting throug

Blu-ray is such a great format for music. Don't forget it benefits audio as well as video. There's enough space to present soundtracks uncompressed on Blu-ray.

I would have been nice if the Stones had not been allowed to play Satisfaction all these years. I've yet to hear a live version I like, and I absolutely cringe every time they play it. Have they ever played a live show w/o it since 1965?

Someone on Amazon is claiming that Star Star is uncensored in the exclusive Amazon box set that was recently released containing all the remasters. If this is true, they must have fixed it for the 2nd pressing. Has anyone else run across the uncensored version on the 2009 remasters? If this is the case, it will make the first edition an nice collectors item.

Quotedrewmaster It's interesting how all the naysayers, all the people on this board who were complaining about brickwalling and who were claiming that 15-year-old remasters sound better than today's technology, have suddenly become very quiet. Drew It's not that cut and dry. I think the remasters are, for the most part, and major upgrade over the Virgin editions, which were a

Quoteskipstone The copyright has to expire for it to be renewed. None of the copyrights on the albums have expired. Virgin didn't renew the copyright. They put the original release year on the records. We're on the same side here. My point is that I have several remasters, and have seen many more in stores, that only list the year of re-issue, not the original copyright. I think it
