Quotetomk Harrison's slide playing is a thing of beauty. It's one of the most beautiful sounds I've ever heard. What songs are you specifically referring to? :-)

I read on here a while back on a thread that spoke about a particular band that sounds similar to the early bluesy Stones ('62 - '67), but I've forgotten who that was. Anyone know who?

Quoteparislocksmith Thanks guys (and girls?) for the reports and pics. (A bit like hearing someone making love to your loved one through a thin wall.) ... and getting annoyed when they're not making a loud enough noise.

Funny, just yesterday on that wonderful website lettersofnote.com, I had input "Lennon" to read some of his letters. Thanks for the recommendation! I'll go look out for that book. By the way, and sorry for going off topic, but what sort of wonderful library is this that has just about every book? Is every library in America like yours? Ours here in South Africa are by comparison

Found it, page 267 of the hardback edition. I just needed to refresh my memory on it. Anyway, thanks!

On what page of Life will I find the part where Keith talks about his "vowel movements"? I've been paging up and down, back and forth but nothin'. Is there some online search I can maybe use? And NO, not the part where he says he has a BOWEL movement every morning, I'm talking about his songwriting method.

Quotetreaclefingers Actually, just listened to it again and I'm upgrading from excellent to brilliant, although not SFM brilliant. Excellent to brilliant? I'm not sure if that's a up or down move.

I'm sorry, but as much as I like the new song, I cannot stand the rhyming "take a chance" and "dance" anymore. Can't they think of something else to rhyme with "dance"!?

QuoteAngus MacBagpipe Specialty Records "Greatest Gospel Gems" is a good collection for those who want to test the waters (before the full baptism in the rivers of righteousness,y'all!) Lots of greats on that one: Blind Boys of Alabama, Sam Cooke, Swan Silvertones and others. That sounds great. The Babylon box set looks even better but maybe a bit extensive, since, y'know

Why, thank you, that's mighty fine a y'all. There was a neighbour we had once, who liked to wash her massive SUV in the driveway on early Sunday mornings, with the car doors open, and playing gospel music as loud as possible. So from those experiences I grew to dislike it, but I reckon there must be some great stuff to be found if I look. Cheers.

52. Gospel
Bit of a strange thread to start, but here goes. The Stones must have been influenced by some gospel music, especially round about Exile with Let It Loose, Shine A Light, Just Wanna See His Face. Kinda strange they did those songs in the south of France, when you think about it. So I just wanna know, do you guys know of any good gospel music? Doesn't have to be all "Lor' have me

Quotetreaclefingers QuoteSilver Dagger The spelling on this site recently has been atrocious. It's Sympathy with an m. Don't you mean double 'm'? Symmpathy for the Devl. There should definitely be a Q in there somewhere.

I think what Chris Fountain is trying to say is that, like the guitar player in the video, the Stones weren't being very "original" when they covered Little Queenie pretty much exactly the way Chuck did it. When you compare Hendrix's Watchtower with Dylan's, there's a big difference in how Jimi approached the song. But Keith pretty much did all his Chuck Berry lic
