Long but interesting interview from 2000 with all five members (filmed for a DVD bonus feature)...Ben was very ill by this time (tough to see) and passed away a month later, but I'm glad they all got together one last time. video:

Quotegotdablouse RIP Always found him to be pretty "peculiar". Some great lasting songs and until I listened more closely I must admit I wasn't aware of how stellar the lead guitar player was/is. Apparently there was a bit of a a WW3 going on in the band too since RO declared in an interview that "there was a cold war between Ben and me for 23 years, I'm not sure why

QuoteHairball QuoteJah Paul Love Ben a whole bunch (criminally underrated, as already stated)...but Ocasek was the sole songwriter for virtually their entire catalogue Thanks for clearing that up Jah Paul - I was looking at song credits on wiki quickly, and where it says "vocals", mistakenly misread/misinterpreted as "written by". Looking at the first album credits a

QuoteHairball QuoteJimmyTheSaint Sad news indeed. The Cars first record is pretty great. I have always been of the opinion that the best Cars songs are the ones where Ben Orr handled the lead vocals. "Just What I Needed" and "Drive" would be at the top of that list followed by "Let's Go", "Bye Bye Love", "Moving in Stereo" and "All

QuoteKoen Quotebitusa2012 QuoteKoen What is that construction above the tongues? Looks like seats, and a scoring board just under the Bud Light banner? Simply seats and scoreboard at one end of the field I would think. Nothing else, it's a sporting field after all - probably the same at the other end - with seats that were sold for the show so people can sit in them and actually see the s

So sorry to hear about his passing...I saw Nicky in Brian's band many times over the past twenty years (first time was at The Wiltern in Los Angeles in October 1999). Very sad.

QuoteStoneage I'm amazed though to see how good other old acts like Sir Roderick, Sir Reginald and Sir Paul are doing. But I guess that is down to the fact that their supporting musicians are much younger. Which is a luxury the Rolling Stones can't afford. Elton is still playing with longtime mates Davey Johnstone (68), Nigel Olsson (70) and Ray Cooper (72)...all of Paul's band

Quotemaumau tornandfrayed, two questions 1. how old are the musicians that back up macca? 2. what is the average lenght of macca's songs in the set? Rusty Anderson (guitar) - 60 Brian Ray (guitar/bass) - 64 Paul 'Wix' Wickens (keyboards) - 63 Abe Laboriel, Jr. (drums) - 48 So, it's sort of like the Mick of today playing with the Keith/Ronnie from the Bigger Bang tour

Quotetatters Very cool that they did this at Dodger Stadium, site of the next-to-last Beatles concert on August 28, 1966. Candlestick Park, where they played the following night, no longer exists. Paul's show at Candlestick in August 2014 was the last event ever held at the stadium.

Quotekeefriff99 QuoteHMS Tucson Train is the only song on Western Stars that is worth listening twice. The rest sucks tremendously since the songs are boring and the cheesy orchestra drags the album down completely. Give it a rest already. You are beyond obnoxious. There's a name for it...

When I saw Elton in mid-August in Los Angeles, he played a good minute and a half of "Brown Sugar" near the end of "The Bitch Is Back" and briefly acknowledged the Stones after, saying something to the effect of "We're all looking forward to seeing them soon." That was quite a summer leading up to the new album and tour.

Come across a few over the years (in person and videos)...in person, Billy Joel was starting a song on piano and the accompanying keyboard/synth player was having feedback problems, prompting two false starts before Billy finally said, "F*ck it, I'll do it by myself"...saw Brian Wilson with the Beach Boys back in '83, beginning a song solo on piano - again, equipment issues an

QuoteChris Fountain I would like to add that he said 20 years so that means they are trying songs from Year 1999 - that can't be Hopefully he meant 40-50 years ago. He said, "Some of them I haven’t heard in 20 years" - which perhaps means songs not played since No Security in '99...or Bridges '97-98.

QuoteOpenG Those opening riffs that Bruce plays on IM Going Down and the vibe of the performance is what gives me a thrill as a fan of his music. Not all performances are perfect be the singing or playing of the instruments in the end its just rock and roll and how it makes you feel. Spot on! Just watched a few songs from the London 2013 show...quite excellent.

Here's the non-torso in 1977, Moon is wearing headphones so he can hear the tape. they had a hidden keyboard-player in 1981 He wasn't hidden...he was set up and visible on stage for all to see. As for "evidence," go watch any video from that tour (or any of the other tours after Moon passed away). The great Rabbit Bundrick pl

Mick during Stray Cat Blues at the Wiltern in 2002...in the verse after the instrumental break, shouting "Why don't you bring her upstairs?! If she's so wild she can join in too!" Unreal and the crowd really took notice.

QuoteStoneage This was, if I remember right, my first boot. A 3-lp set from the Hampton 1981 gig. Perfect sound. A gem. Which I was to discover later on not every boot had... I remember that one...saw it in a local record store in the summer of '82. Was surprised to see it there as the place was pretty legit - a smattering of various boots popped up around that time. It was

Was just a kid in the early '70s, but remember The Mod Squad well...she was one of my favorites at the time, along with Elizabeth Montgomery. They filmed an episode in my hometown in 1969...in this scene, the record store (Allegro Music) where I bought my first single and LP is in the background.

Although I was a Stones fan since I was eight, I didn't really get into their deep tracks until the mid-'80s when I was in college. Thusly, certain songs remind me of certain girls during that time... Backstreet Girl (freshman year) She Smiled Sweetly (sophomore year)...and Stupid Girl (when we broke up!) Parachute Woman (junior year) The fourth girl (senior year) was the relat

In the 1971 book No One Waved Good-bye: A Casualty Report on Rock and Roll (which centers on the deaths of Jimi, Janis, Brian Jones, and Brian Epstein there's an essay by Al Aronowitz where he talks about a young lady who lived in his building in NYC who went to Woodstock, and came back complaining about ho

Another guest, Tom Shillue said "I'd see the Rolling Stones. I saw Pau
