QuoteDandelionPowderman <the music the Jack Bruce Band with Mick Taylor made was so ponderously self-important, masturbatory and humourless that it simply (and mercifully) sank under its own pretensions.> Well said! And it was a drag. Boring! Ok ok ok, very clear all. Let's just say Mick T. was really bored playing with the Stones and wanted to play something else. And that someth

Quote71Tele Sure, Taylor's playing is great (when wasn't it?), but this music is horrid. 70s prog rock. He left the Stones so he could do this? Mick Taylor was a little bored with the Stones. He couldn't be challenged enough there. If you listen to the songs of the Jack Bruce Band, you can hear different kinds of scales and phrases in the guitar solos. As a guitarplayer I can tel

QuoteWho's Driving Your Plane? Heroin Good word. But I need more information than that. For example; I've read somewhere that Jack's ego got in the way. Another source tells me that the group didn't got along. Who has more info than a word? lol

Mick Taylor had a role in the Jack Bruce Band in 1975. Unfortunately this band didn't survive. The music was ok and the musicians were good. Does anyone know why the Jack Bruce Band split up in 1975? How was the relationship between Mick Taylor and Jack Bruce?

The first time I saw the R&R circus was on BBC2 on New Years Eve, 1996(?). It blowed my mind. After 00:00H, celebrating, drinking champaign and then... my eyes on the telly! I was really excited to see all those artists and off course the Stones.

Hellraiser - Ginger Baker I've bought this autobiography the other day. I'm still busy readig it and I must say, highly entertaining. Some Stones content here and there. I speaks highly of Charlie Watts. Good respect between these two drummers. Ginger talks a lot about his drug addiction. Man, that guy is a real junkie in those days. He tells about the whole scene and also the

QuoteCome On So what have they done for Stones and their sound? The only one I would mention besides the original Stones-members is Bobby Keys. Nicky Hopkins did the most. Listen to She's a Rainbow, Angie, Lovin Cup, Sympathy for the Devil, Time Waits For No One.

Ian and Nicky were the silent ones behind the Stones, but they delivered outstanding performances! Historical ones. Billy Preston was a real showman and he fit among the members of the Stones. Technical player but more important, soulful with the music. I can't bother to listen to Chuck, with all respect. He's good, but he's too kind of a fellow and doesn't fit the Stones.

QuoteR Everybody hates Chuck but there wouldn't be a Stones without him in the modern era. The 'purists' consistently overlook how many Stones songs owe the major aspects of their character to the piano parts. Especially the the sixties up thru mid seventies stuff. Chuck can play all those styles and all those parts. Unfortunately he comes off like a goody-two-shoes which belies th

QuoteLieB Cream had already split and done their last concerts by the time of R'n'R Circus. So I think Clapton was already releaved and done with that, but yeah, he probably thought the R'n'R Circus felt ok as a break without heavy burdens to carry. Exactly my point.

The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus was a amazing event in 1968. It turned out to be a cult movie full of great artists. I was thinking... Some of the artists in the R&R circus had a difficult period with their own thing. Let's take a look: Brian Jones This guy wasn't taken serious by the Stones. The only song he could play was No Expectations. This was his last live per

I was about 9 years old and saw the Stones on MTV. It was "Angie". I was very suprised and confused about Mick Jagger, because I couldn't tell if he was male or female. But I did loved the song at that time. And that made me play the guitar! :-)

Quotemarvpeck It is interesting to see how Brian got pushed out of his band. The LP covers do seem to reflect that. However, let's not read too much into this. We also were pretty convinced that Paul was dead based on some LP covers. Indeed. I was just wondering. It was kind of fun to see those albumcovers from the beginning till the end. The changes, the scene, the clothes and hair. Bu

Quotestraycat58 It's interesting also to compare the videos: I would suggest to compare the NME Pollwinners 1964 with the NME 1965 and focus your attention on Brian and note the big difference in Brian's involvement and beheaviour. I think the major changes occurred in the period end 64-beginning 65. An inside the band conflict between Mick and Brian took place for the supremacy and

As we all may know, Brian Jones started the Rolling Stones in the early sixties. If you look at the first albumcover, you can see Brian in the front as a leader of the Rolling Stones. In good spirit and quite healthy. But as we move thru the years you can see changes. For example, take a look at FLOWERS. Brian was the only one without leaves. On BETWEEN THE BUTTONS Brian was hiding in his
