I have some sympathy with your point of view. If your only experience of the band live is on this tour then you missed them at their best by 20 years or so. They were without Bill so the rest of the band would have been a little unsure of things however much they had rehearsed. You've had some bitching here that you have only seen them live once. Unfortunately you can't go back in ti

QuoteSKILLS Australian betting agency SportsBet is refunding all wagers on NZ, saying "It shouldn't be decided this way" The rules of the tournament were known and agreed to by all teams before the start so there can be no complaints of 'unfairness'. But then, nobody expected the final to have to be decided by the super over rule. A fantastic game to watch and

It is right that we, who have so much, remember those who gave everything. I have no great family connection with the fighting in WW2 as my father and uncles were working in reserved occupations, namely on the railways. However, other members will have grandparents who fought, some will have returned but many will have perished. Anyone here have stories to share?

If I remember rightly, Virgin Records used to sell bootlegs when they first started as just a retail outlet and before Tubular Bells changed their direction.

Very good article Kingbeebuzz. It would be very interesting to interview some of these guys - Paul Jones, Dick Taylor, Mick Avory etc - at some length about those formative days before those memories fade and are lost, they are in their seventies after all and look how old Bill Wyman is! They won't be here for ever.... Blinded by the Light is a great song but is by Earth Band, which did f

Interesting article and true in many respects. He's right about the quality of early boots, most were terrible audience recordings, I sent a Hendrix boot back to the store one time it was so bad. But, we were grateful to have them. I am amused by the modern collectors who grumble about MP3 quality and have the tech to do their own remixes , we had to put up with seventh generation taped copi

The band still tours now and then with many of the original members but not MM himself. I saw them a couple of years ago with both Paul Jones and Mike D'Abo on vocals and they were excellent. Had forgotten that D'Abo wrote Handbags and Gladrags, which is a classic song, and it was interesting to hear his story about how he wrote it and to hear his own version. Many members also tour

QuoteChris Fountain QuoteMisterDDDD QuoteChris Fountain Anthony Hopkins is still hanging in there. My fav old actor is Paul Newman. I love "The Sting". Bad news... Paul died over ten years ago at 83. I'm well aware that Paul Newman passed years ago. I do appreciate the post , however. I think that the last time I saw Newman alive was on the David Letterman show circa 200? N

QuoteBig Al Another nail in the coffin of my childhood. Zippy, George and Bungle, the gay hippopotamus I believe it was George the hippopotamus and I don't think he was gay, just a little sensitive and light on his feet. However, RIP Geoffrey, I watched many of your shows with my kids back in the day. These days, with my grandkids, I watch Hey Duggee it's brilliant!

My gonads were unimpressed by Mr Bolan. I always looked upon him as a bleating, low brow, prancing, glam rock opportunitist who ran out of steam when his fans grew out of it. I don't mean that in a bad way.

Ian's music means a lot to me even after all these years. His lyrics, many based on his own experiences of a sometimes difficult life, were unique . I still play his music a lot. At one time he was flavour of the month in UK and his voice suffered from too much live work and recording. I remember a live broadcast where he struggled to sing and was fed up with sections of the audience who

QuoteGuessWho First saw the Stones in 1976 at the Glasgow Apollo. All seats £3.50 in a 2,500 seater venue Corrected for inflation - £27.00 in 2018. So, in Edinburgh this year the equivalent GA is now over £100 (with fees)and seats, apart from those far from the stage, are even more expensive. As much as I appreciate that the finances of the music business have shifted from record sale

Quotemr_dja QuoteGasLightStreet QuoteKoen One of my favorite redundancies: “With au jus sauce”. Ah, because that's simply juice sauce, right? Yes, I'd like a glass of milk water. In the US it seems to be, from my experience anyway, only said around the winter holidays, because the rest of the year people just say gravy, which it basically is in the States. Interesting. I lov
