QuoteDoxa That German "compilation" AROUND AND AROUND is a wonderful one, and I think it should as an "official" album in that market (as much, say, 12x5 in US market). At the time when I started to collect Stones albums here in Finland in early 80's that one was circulating everywhere. For a young 'completist' it was a bit oddity since any official book didn&

QuoteStoneage Thanks. So Hot Rocks is the American equivalent of Rolled Gold then? Or sort of. Never owned any of them. Hot Rocks seemed to be very popular in the US. Released in Feb 1972 it contained 60`s material, Rambler live and the "new" Brown Sugar/Wild Horses. Great compilation. The second part "More Hot Rocks" was my first Lp which I bought in mid seventies as an U

QuoteStonage Rolled Gold seemed to be a huge hit in the US. Never saw it here in Sweden though. Was it sold in Europe? When was it released? It`s vice versa: Rolled Gold was very popular in Europe (released in Uk and Germany in nov 1975) and never released in the US. Tom

Quotekleermaker Here is 'number 5', the Mannheim live version from the European tour 1973 (the audio quality is ... remarkable): I remember the poor quality of the rare and expensive vinyl boot "100% Odd Lots" when these vinyls were the only chance to listen to stuff like this. Compared to that quality your upload sounds fantastic. Thank you for that! Tom

Just listened to "Since I`ve Been Loving You" and thought: Jimmy Page! Not with the obvious "One Hit To The Body" (that number didn`t really work live) but what would Jimmy add to let`s say "Love In Vain" ? They know each other since the beginning, respect each other, worked in the studio and I think that would work very well. Beside so many mediocre guests

I saw the Stones 6 x in 89/90 and never ever had the impression of a cold or sterile sound at the concert. I was lucky to make the front row in four of the six concerts and it rocked! After the break in the eighties all the people were sooo enthusiastic and partying , it was very very special. I never liked the additional keyboards of MC and hated the sampled harp in Miss You or Just Wanna Make

From todays point of view a nice and funny video collection. At least they cared about it filming Mick and Bill presenting the videos. But I remember having mixed feelings seeing it in 1984 when it was released.. The situation in 1984? Being disappointed with NO Tour after Undercover in 1984. Just getting a disappointing greatest hits "Rewind" collection with no unreleased material (

Quotebigmac7895 Midnight Rambler (4/5) Mick- great. Keith- great. Charlie- great. While I have been giving Ronnie a lot of love, he just doesn't show up on this song. Maybe my high expectations of his playing previously in the show made me think he would be able to fill the song with Taylor like precision. Nope. It would have been worth it to have MT around just for this song again if that&

Quotetreaclefingers That is the second pressing then, that also is quite valuable...I have neither, just the two DECCA stereo variations open letters and boxed. As far as I know the second pressing (boxed Decca) of LIB is even more valuable and quiet rarer cause pressed a few months only. Tom

Quotemartinw Re the UK mono Satanic, you have to check the matrix numbers to see whether it is the original mono or the foldown mix. Basically if there is a "T2" in the matrix number, you have the foldown mix, no "T2" and you have the original mono. In the original mono mix, the percussion in "Sing All This Together" seems to be higher in the mix, and the bell tollin

And in 1983 you had to buy the Undercover cassette to get the long version (extra verse) of Wanna Hold You. For many years on tape only. Tom

QuoteDeltics I've always understood that Beggars (with the exception of SFTD) and Let It Bleed were fold-downs. Understood it the same way. Musically Aftermath and Between The Buttons are worth to have. I love the powerful mono mix (no fold down). Much more enjoyable than the wide stereo mix. From a collector`s view Beggars and especially Let It Bleed are the hardest and most expensive

Without going too detailed you can say that the first lp`s in mono were released in mono on cd. Aftermath, Between The Buttons ,Big Hits,Satanic, Beggars Banquet and Let It Bleed were released in mono and stereo on vinyl at the time, but as far as I know the mono versions were never rereleased on vinyl or cd. There are some bootlegs around , but I`m not sure if these bootlegs contain the origina

Interesting thread. The funny thing is that last year I changed the old Schecter bridge to the original bridge. It`s a `71 Tele which I bought in 1983. The seller had changed the hardware (Schaller mechanics and Schecter hardware and Bill Lawrence pu`s) but luckily gave me all original stuff. So all the years I played the Schecter bridge. Never thought of changing it cause everybody said that t

QuoteDandelionPowderman Must be the first YCAGWYW-solo with slide as well? I noticed that too. At first I was wondering why the song has a different feel. It`s the slide! In Berlin 2014 he used his b-bender Tele which brought a different more countryesk feel. Usually he used a strat. Tom

Quotecaschimann Until TATTOO YOU SIDE TWO, Cat Stevens, Leonard Cohen, CSN&Y (Live side two) etc. were the kind of choices. But those records where the soundtrack for drinking tea, discussing the universe and beyond plus holding each other in the arms and exchange some kisses. TATTOO SIDE TWO established (for me) a new intensity in those dates. At the time TY was released many critics ment

Quoteslewan besides the music and all that - the most remarkable aspect of the Atlantic City bootleg was that the Stones' lawyers weren't able to ban the bootleg from being sold in regular stores in Europe! I still remember seeing lots of copies in big High Street record stores Yeah that was strange. There were big ads in german music magazines at the time right before the Stones rel
