Top list , top choices . I did see Darryl in a small club playing fusion jazz with Mike Stern on guitar and Keith Carlock on drums. Outstanding, not from this world. This is a list I expect from a musician like him.

As far as I know Jimmy used a b-bender guitar for playing his solo . He had a Tele and even a Les Paul b-bender. Makes me think if Ronnie got the inspiration by that session for using a b-Bender on his own (ESP model) . Tom

So sad to hear! I hoped to see him again. Followed him since his Beyond Cool album in 1993. Could see him live at Quasimodo,Berlin in 2003 . One of the most impressive club gigs I ever attended. What a musician. Kick Ass Funk,Blues, guitar and Organ player. Some Stones connection: he did a coverversion of Lucky In Love on his 2003 album Black Midnight Sun, produced by Bill Laswell.... 55 years,

QuoteSpud Interesting points Tom. Yes I agree...the better the HiFi system the more obvious some of these variances are. (Indeed, the whole rationale of high compression brick wall mastering is to cater for the lowest common denominator of low quality and/or portable playback equipment.) I'd also agree that the original ABB release on vinyl sounded better than the CD... But the n

QuoteSpud The bottom line with these is that , assuming they are the same as the ones in the boxed set, they are on the whole very good. Do the earlier ones better or even equal the original analogue pressings ? No they don't ...but they are probably the best vinyl reissues of all these albums... to have been commissioned in the digital age and the ones which were digital from the ou

QuoteLeonidP QuoteFancyBluesMan Hey Testify! A good companion piece to the 'Slide On Live' CD is Ronnie's 'Live and Eclectic' ... Yes! I have that one too, and if I recall correctly "Live & Eclectic" was actually released before "Slide On Live", at least I recall having that one first anyway. Slide On Live originally released in 1993 on Cont

Does anyone ever saw a videoshooting of these gigs ?? The "Slide On Live" Home Video Footage is mentioned in the booklet of the Continuum CD from 1993. The pictures are taken from this videofootage. Always curious to see this , but never ever had a chance. Anyone?

I love the actual version of the Fender Blues Junior IV. Different from all other versions , 12“Celestion and it works great even in an appartment . Smooth sounding , crunch ... , just great . Works fine with pedals . So for adjusting the volume , you can do it with a pedal anyway . Sadly no headphone jack . Cheers , Tom

"Key To The Highway" released only at the rare japanese Main Offender version?? What experts are doing this RSD stuff? "Key To The Highway" was regulary released in 1991 as part of Johnnie Johnson`s highly recommended CD "Johnnie B.Bad" with lots of Wino`s participation. Then later, yes, as bonus track on the japanese Main Offender version.. Just for the re

QuoteSomeGuy Quotenick QuoteHairball There were stickers on the front cover of US copies of Undercover - I remember peeling them off. Yeah I saved them on the back of the Fan Club insert. Quote24FPS QuotePalace Revolution 2000 Quotelem motlow Thank you very much,I’m always glad to hear the Stones bass player is doing well. It seems Bill has completely retired now,no more Rhythm Kings or anything. Since we won’t have many more Stones albums it’s too bad they don’t do a Brian Wilson kinda of thing where the live band and studio band are different. You could have songs with

This album stands out of the latter era cause it was the only time they were ready for trying something knew. They were always great at adding actual influences to their own sound. This time they were not just trying to sound like the Stones. They were open for experimentation with some great results. Tom

I`m looking forward to this release.I liked the sound of the released Exile -Abbeyroad release very much. So this box could be a great improvement soundwise. Be sure to have a decent hifi system. Otherwise you won`t notice the soundimprovements. I´m just curious if later the albums will be sold seperately how it happend with other boxsets/artists. So I don`t have to buy Exile twice and could p

As far as I know the sound on stage differs from what comes out of the pa-system. The onstagesound is mixed seperately. The mixing-desk is often on the side or back of the stage . And of course the musicians on stage prefer a different mix on their monitors. The drummer wants the bass high in the mix and the singer wants ...and so on. In general as a musician you don`t know if the sound in the s

Some ups and downs ....but no , it's not underrated. And the stronger tracks are killed by this 80's production. A general "Mick" problem: when you wanna have a flashy production it sounds dated very soon. Tom
