I doubt Bill has any regrets and bailed out a the right time...perhaps a little late. He seems to have been careful with whatever cut he got out of his stones years and has enjoyed the last few decades doing what every retired man should do and do what he wants. Bill has left us a great legacy, he was there when it mattered, when the greatest rock songs were recorded....what followed his de

I've pretty much watched the entire show...via YouTube...much as I'm a little cynical these days about Stones tours/gigs, I have to say that looked and sounded like a pretty good opening night. Main thing is those who were there enjoyed it and felt they got their money's worth. Have to say though that it looked a weak set list and hope for later shows that they introduce a fe

I'm a big fan of Ryan Adams, and great that he took this on. I've listened to most of the gig and at first thought it was pretty average but had a bit of reflection and thought maybe it was never meant to be a replication of what the stones did but rather Adams' take on those songs. If so, then it ranks better. It's a bit hit and miss, some work well, others not so well....

I wouldn't rule out US shows in the future...if the money is there, I'm sure they will do it. It matters little to them which country they play shows in as long as they make the necessary income to make it viable and not be embarrassed at lack of ticket sales. Same format, 2 or three shows and then a gap and then a couple more...can't see any reason why they wouldn't if

DOn't think it's a hotel reception, if you look at the back ground there is a poster with the word Festival on and another with a guitarist....not the usual fayre back in those days to find in a hotel.

Some drink from the fountain of knowledge; you only gargled. I don’t have the time or the crayons to explain this to you. If you were twice as smart as you are, you’d be half as smart as you think you are.

QuoteBraincapers Never heard of this show, and I suspect it's as bad as it sounds, but tonight the topic is Keith Richards is a musician, singer, songwriter and founding member of the greatest rock band of all time, The Rolling Stones. A man plagued by demons and full of contradictions, his struggle with fame and fortune will manifest itself in an addictive and abusive relationship with d

Great reading through this thread, some of you have been so lucky in terms of seeing the greats of rock...I sometimes wished I'd been born 10 years earlier in 1950 rather than 60 as I just missed out on the Beatles, Hendrix and early Zeppelin. Nevertheless, I do consider myself lucky in that my first gig was at Bradford St Georges Hall in 1973 aged 13 where I saw Bowie just before he ab

He has been missed...not the most technically gifted bassist but it worked and at times it couldn't have been better. He got out at the right time in terms of new recordings...he didn't want to tour any more and so from his perspective it was perfect timing. Not so for us fans.

At the end of the day it comes down to what each individual can afford or is prepared to afford. I've been lucky enough to see this band on every tour since 76...some average shows, some exceptional shows...no poor shows. So, the only reason I'd go to this tour is through the fear of missing their final show....I've been working on this theory since 82! It's not just th

It's a little ironic to hear Keith suggesting that the Stones are just a blues band....and the other quotes over the years about why should they ever retire, the old bluesmen kept going.....the whole concept of what the blues was about was the very opposite of what the Stones are all about these days. It will end up simply being a concert given by old men for wealthy old men and women..

I could afford to go and see them on this tour, it would be the first European tour I've missed since 76 if I didn't. But there is a part of me which thinks, do I need to hear those same old songs again, is it worth it. Manchester would take me about 40 minutes in the car or less on the train, but for two tickets and the additional costs I'd be looking at £300 for me and my wife.

Superb album....not a bad song on it and the mix, history, musicians all add to its mystique. Would be my desert island album. As an aside, has anyone ever managed write down what the bits of talking in the back ground....it's there on a few songs and I can never make it out

I was at the Leeds Roundhay gig...it is only 14 miles from where I lived and I'd seen them at Newcastle earlier in the tour. They kind of billed it as the final ever Stones gig...not directly but that was the impression we all had. To be honest I didn;t really rate either of those shows and if I had to choose I;d always go for the Hampton DVD. The sound is better and the filming is way bett

HP Sauce....never underestimate HP Sauce. Keith never travels without it, Bill was also quite fond of it. Classic English condiment and I also would never be without it! HP sauce was the secret ingredient to Exile,,,,and pretty much every other Stones album!

I find it hard to believe that someone has managed to compile a book which gives accurate information relating to the writing of each song. The Stones themselves can't even agree on many songs and their own accounts vary depending on which decade they are interviewed.....I'm not saying it can't be done, just that I'm more inclined to think this is just someone who has trawled

I seem to recall that the line about Anita, wasn't anything to do with the song Angie, but from Happy, when Keith would occasionally sing 'Anita love to make me happy' Read this somewhere but can't remember where.

SFTD shouldn't be retired, it should be re-worked and more dark guitar riffs added and take out the karaoke elements. I'll give Chuck credit for playing better piano on the opening though, it was a real bug bear of mine on the last tour when he played that dreadful intro. SFTD is one of the greatest Stones songs but has lost it's way a little. It wouldn't take much for R

Haven't seen them live on this tour, so relied on iorr reviews and Youtube videos, seems that as always they are improving through the tour and this is the same with all live acts on tour. Keith's playing has been much discussed and he's made some dreadful mistakes on stage, but to be fair, he always has done, I can't remember a tour where he hasn't made a few @#$%& ups

Thanks for posting those....really enjoyed browsing through them...Nellcote will always have a hold over my imagination, and a real shame none of us can get access. It looks as though you actually got on to the house's private beach...I bet there were some great days and nights down there. Excellent.

Much as I would love to see a 2nd Zeppelin reunion, I really doubt that will happen....Plant is more than happy with his current band and creating new music and hates nostalgia. I think Led Zeppelin have had their day. The Stones UK tour is, as BV states more than likely and 12 shows would be perfect. 3 in London, Knebworth, Scotland, Wales Ireland and then maybe 3 shows in England Leeds, Man

Sticky FIngers, the very week it was released. My bother, 5 years my elder advised me to buy it. I had grown up hearing stuff like Lets Spend The Night Together and Ruby Tuesday on the radio and blasting out of his bedroom. I was never allowed in and watched his long haired young men and women friends visit him all dressed in loons, Afghan coats and reeking of patchouli I used to listen to t

I was really pleased to see and hear that Keith had really pulled out the stops in Dusseldorf, I may be critical of him when he is bad, but I'll always be chuffed to bits when he's on point. It does seem to be a warming up thing with him. Takes him to get a few shows under his belt before he hits his stride....he's gonna peak for the last show! I watched the SFM clip an
