Thanks, great detailed notes too. I'm confused though, as is mentioned in the text the first tracks were assumed to be "Longview Farm" (Massachussets) recordings, but they are now known to have been recorded at "Los Angeles, Eldorado Recording Studio" in March 1981 ?

QuoteKRiffhard Thanks, so that's 6 songs with "Ghost Town" now ! 4 more to go for a 10 track album ;-) I didn't remember that funky guitar on "Really Wanna Tell The Truth", wonder who plays that, sounds like Carlos Alomar ;-)

QuoteNilsHolgersson Well I don't see any of the other guys teasing it.. must a be followup to England Lost / Gotta Get a Grip Yes, it sounds like a "bluesier" GGAG...it reminds me of something I can't quite place, "I Go Wild" maybe ?

Well what can you say...at least these guys don't agonize about coming up with "great stuff" like Mick, they just put out an album rehashing the same stuff and the fans are ecstatic, job done !

James Karnbach - AFAIK that's the only source for the B2B sessions although some stuff might have been mentioned in promo interviews at the time, maybe by Rob Fraboni too on song he'd worked on with Keith (yes all the details about that on IORR ) Oh and our very own BV had mentioned "Every Changing World" as a b-side. QuoteRockman So did you get anything for the $100 ?????

That brings back bad memories of several of us getting ripped off by Dutch thief Hans Mulders who claimed he had a CD of outtakes around September 1997. Not sure where he advertized these tapes, possibly on the UC list ? I suppose we should have known better but that was just after the massive VL Brew/Stew sets so it seemed plausible. Besides there was a guy who posted regularly on a forum (UC li

Possibly, we knew it was coming anyway...and Mick said a long time ago "it can't last forever obviously".

Thanks ! First time I heard about that song was when Keith explained he'd wiped off all the parts and played everything himself, other than the drums I suppose ! That was an RCA78 track, right ? EDIT - ok after looking it up that was for "The Harder They Come", RRR is from Island Studios in 12/1976, Nico reference : 761210A - wonder why that session ever happened ! I see ther

I seem to remember a boot where he plays live with Keith in NY, was that in 1986 ? The year of his first solo tour ?

Quoterollmops Mick said in the 94 rolling stone Mag interview : "But there were a lot of things that we wroe for VL that DW steered us away from : groove songs, African influences and things like that." Any idea if eventually the Stones used those "grooves and African influences"? I know that in 1976-77 when Mick and Keith worked with John Philips, African vibes showed

Mick and Keith did spend time in Barbados sharing their ideas and trying to put stuff together, as evidenced by the Voodoo Residue "tapes, like they had done for SW. The main difference is that they were working on a different deadline, it was much shorter for SW, 6 months vs 1 year for VL. Yeah Mick did complain about the selection/production in the 1995 interview and he was actually not

Thanks, longest Stones track ever, surely ! Apart from the alleged 45' "Jah is not Dead" that Mick supposedly played to the EMI execs as a joke when they came to see how the SG sessions were going.

Actually it's during the 2014 rehearsals that Keith missed a day to be with his daughter. That day they rehearsed "Streets of Love" if memory serves as well as "Till the Next Goodbye". That would certainly be cool to have but I'd still go with the B2B sessions, slightly more likely too...

QuoteNeddieFlanders The theory is that all these versions were recorded during the Goats Head Soup-sessions and the recordings we have is actually The Rolling Stones listening to their leftovers during the Black And Blues-sessions. N Yes, although one thing is fairly certain it's that the partial recordings we have do come from the infamous "mic in maibox of the Stones mobile recor

Quotesf37 I thought that “Four And In” was the alternate title to “Dancing In The Light” rather than to “Dancing With Mr. D”, is it not? Or am I mistaken? It would seem that you are indeed mistaken based on the details and pictures I took the time to share in the first message. Another "clue" I suppose (re : the email fiasco in the Japan Bonus Tracks thread )

The released version is indeed a great track and instantly likable, maybe too instantly and when compared to the demo it makes all the chord changes a bit "obvious" a typical "Mick song" (the exception being Moonlight Mile and it's "droning" quality) versus Keith's more elaborate constructions. As for those still looking for "proof" that the de

I'm all for not taking stuff at "face value" but WTF would they release a DEMO with a new vocal, it makes ZERO sense !!! Like someone said in the "JAPAN GHS(2020 SDX) ONLY 2 BONUSES" no wonder some "stuff" has happened ;-) Anyway this is a really a wonderful insight they're giving us. I've always liked this song but like dcba says it now seems it wa

Yeah there are a few more but only "Give Us a Break" appears to have reached the mastering stage. I listened to "Fast Talking" but can't see any reason why it would have been called "Give Us a Break" unless Mick rewrote the lyrics completely. Suspiciously absent from the master reel is "Heartbreaker" but again, no hint of "Give Us a Break" in

Looks nice but I doubt it will be of much interest to non die-hards and then there are much details of interest for the die-hards, so... Somehow it reminds me of Mick's fancy "Goddess" site in 2001, how time flies !

Thanks to the new "Experience" on www.rollingstones.com I think one of the mysterious outtakes of the GHS sessions has been identified : "Four and In" appears to be "Dancing with Mr D" ! Clues : - Track Sheet : note "MR DEE" on Track 14 ! WTH is MR DEE anyway ? - Index of Master Tape : - Zoomed in : One down, several to go : &q
