from the article Jagger’s knack for a sly lyric is at its best in “Memory Motel” as he starts to recount the story of “Hannah” and their brief liaison. “We spent a lonely night at the Memory Motel,” he sings. It’s an elegant sketch of the isolation within a passing affair, and of the sometimes-desolate feel of the seaside village. The eponymous motel sits to this day at the head of Montauk’s c

"Memory Motel" has always held a special place in my heart. Despite its unconventional lineup with two guest guitar players and three pianos, there's something about the song that resonates with me on a deeply emotional level. Maybe it's the heartfelt lyrics, the shared vocals of Mick and Keith, or the personal nature of the tune, but from the very first time I dropped the nee

My new book released today! Hey everyone, I'm excited to share that my new book "Jimi and Me: The Experience of a Lifetime" is officially out today! It's the wild story of a young writer/photographer who embarks on a remarkable collaboration with Jimi Hendrix in the late 1960s for a film project. This story is filled with never-before-told accounts and exclusive photos

I would like to express my gratitude to James Phelge, Stanley Booth, and Bill German for their invaluable contributions to the world of Rolling Stones fandom. Without these three exceptional storytellers, we would have missed out on countless priceless moments that were brilliantly illuminated through their writings. Among the vast array of books about the Rolling Stones, in my opinion, these thr

Something happened during the summer of 1979 that still resonates with me today. It was a time when my group of high school senior friends, consisting of about five of us, shared an immense love for the Rolling Stones. We were die-hards, and we made it a tradition to gather outside Keith Richards' house on a beautiful winding country road in South Salem. For us, it became a rite of passage,

Overall I think the album is good. Honestly I can't imagine listening to get too much once the excitement dies down. Except for the salt. Epic. Holiday and I love how big doesn't exaggerate the vocal, Plays it dark and real. This is just so brilliant

Immediately prior to the Stones' gig at the Palladium, an unhinged Satanist appears at the stage door, claiming to be the band's dead guitarist Brian Jones. The unsettlin

The good news is, yesterday the National Park Service unveiled a new informational marker at Cap Rock located within Joshua Tree National Park. That's where the Rolling Stones used to hang out with Gram Parsons in the late 1960s. Yesterday was the 50th anniversary of Parsons's death, hence the unveiling. The bad news is, the marker states unequivocally that the song Wild Horses was

Interesting watching the interview with Mick and that guy from Canada. When he talked about Stevie Wonder being on the new record and a flashback to the 1972 tour, mick describes the lineup as being ike and Tina Turner, BB King and Stevie wonder. He actually confuses the 1969 and 1972 tours. It's funny what we will take for granted, Obsessives as we are, and in Mick's mind, everything j

I really want to enjoy this more than I am. It's a shame they can't use real stones music, and it's quite repetitive. Constantly resetting the table on what the stories. How much Altamont stuff do we really need to hear? So far, for true fans it doesn't seem like there's much new here. Some of the interview bits are nice but they're so fragmented and few and far betw

I want to share a story that Dave Mason told me as we were writing his memoir, which comes out this fall by the way. When Traffic was recording at Olympic Studios with Jimmy Miller, most of you probably know that Mick came in to observe those sessions and thus wound up bringing Miller over to their studio to work on beggars banquet. That’s basically how Dave wound up playing on a couple of so
