QuoteElmo ‘Jeff Lynne, Richard Tandy, Bev Bevan, Hugh McDowell, Mik Kiminiski, Kelly Groucutt, with maybe Melvyn Gale and Louis Clark would be the classic lineup I'd really want to see. It was always Jeff's vision but they were a huge part in making that a reality.‘ You may have to wait a while and be in another place to see this line up, Kelly died in 2009. As a ‘massive fan’, I tho

Yup, knew Roger was 80 today. A very happy birthday to the wee man! He was still rocking when I saw the Who at Badminton last Summer.

QuoteThe Worst. Big Al: unfortunately the new Wembley Stadium is notorious for its horrendous sound. It has been reported time and time again. Echoes all over the place. Guardian critic Alexis Petridis wrote this: “the sound at Wembley tonight recreates the experience of trying to listen to Fleetwood Mac with your head submerged in a tureen of soup” I wholeheartedly agree. The new Wembley is an

Quotepaulywaul Quotejohnnythunders Tickets for the RAH were tricky because no presales but investing £45 in becoming a Friend of the RAH seemed to pay off with a couple of Arena A seats for the 18th. Half an hour later after saying no repeatedly to a variety of lesser seats, Ticketmaster of all people threw up another pair of Arena A seats for the Wednesday. Result! Yes indeed Good Sir, a wise

QuoteBig Al What? No Starsky and Hutch fans? I thought, that with all the Boomers amongst us, there'd be a few posting here. The show is before my time, so I can't comment; and I don't remember seeing repeats during the 90's. I was also unware that he sang and had a couple of #1's. I used to watch every week growing up in the 70s in Scotland. Loved that big red car with

I was at the 1995 Voodoo Lounge show, only the 2nd of my lifetime 42. Wish I'd seen more of my shows back then. I thought Don Valley Stadium was a decent venue - such a pity it was demolished just 22 years after it was built. Music Events are still held on the land it stood on though - now called the Don Valley Bowl.

I’m shocked and stunned to read this as he wasn’t that old. Had many exchanges with him down the years and enjoyed his posts. A big loss to this board and a much bigger one to his family and friends. RIP Hairball.

Quotefrankotero I don’t think they try to hide those extra sounds, like the SFTD intro. The parts played by the principal musicians are live. This is a touchy subject for many of us, I feel we should tread lightly. If you're talking about the Stones then yes, fully agreed. But this is a U2 thread

QuotePalace Revolution 2000 QuoteGasLightStreet Quotemr edward Look's cool, but is the band still the main attraction of the night? I mean, Who even pays attention to the 4 tiny figures on stage. It reminds me of the orchestra's who played during movies in the 20's in the cinema's... There is a good bit of simplicity to their show, it's not all visual. Above the stage t

I was there too. Hard to believe it’s already 17 years ago. Also at the same stadium in 2018. I thought the latter was a much better show. The roof was closed in 2006 but open 2018. But I was still glad to have been there in 2006.

QuoteDandelionPowderman QuoteKoen Quotedmay If true, the best line in the story is that Keith Moon frequently babysat for Ringo. One can only imagine considering Moon's reputation and joie de vivre. I highly doubt it, Ringo was born in 1940, Moon in 1946. Moon was 19 when Zak was born. I've read that it was him who gave Zak drumming lessons, and not his dad. Don't know if it

Huge Worldwide hit but strangely only No 5 in their home country! I used to work with a woman called Angie here and she'd never heard of it until I told her. I have a fair few Polish friends and the song seems to be very well known there even amongst non fans so presumably a huge smash there. A real pity they've never played it live there because it would go down a storm. It'

I've just heard about this on Facebook. I never met Jan but I knew him on sight and knew his name. Always an easy pick out in a crowd with his towering height! I'm absolutely stunned. I stayed in the same hotel as Jan in Lyon last year and saw him on the catwalk rail in the pit at the show. RIP to his family and friends - he sounds like a good guy.

Quotepetewasbristol Saw the Who in Badminton last night (it's 20 mins drive from my house...this does not happen very often!) And it was wonderful. I took my five year old son and also my mum and dad. With the orchestra it really does add something else to the show and we all came away very happy indeed. Now, if the Stones can come to Badminton next year that would be lovely... I too was a

I’m in rural Oxfordshire, close to Swindon. I considered the O2 but it’s a pain to get to from here. They’re playing Badminton House on Sunday, just 40 miles away. Will very likely scoop a last minute ticket and go. I’ve seen the Who 6 times since 2015. They give it their all and put on a hell of a show still. Roger’s voice seems to have had a new lease of life!

Quotegotdablouse Didn't the 2007 tour end with empty sections ? The Stade de France was pretty tarped according to reports I read. Maybe that was blamed on Cohl ? I was at that show. The entire upper tier was tarped off and pit tickets were being sold off on the day for €50. They had played the same venue the year before.

Quotehockenheim95 Full Version: video: That is quite something. We’re talking 81/82 speed here. One of the comments on that YouTube vid said Charlie has a bad stomach that night and he was keen for the show to end. But to my untrained eyes and ears he’s on fire here, hammering the living daylights out of his drums.

Couldn't resist, love 'em too much, and of course we never know if or when they're gonna come round again ... I'm kind of thinking about that one. I've seen them 6 times since 2015, the last being the 1st of the 4 Pryzm shows. I'm more likely to end

It's been Dips only for me for a good few years now. Failing that it's late cut price drops such as HP1 last year. But I'll carry on seeing the Stones until they pack it in, even though we're down to just 2 original members now. In fairness to them full price pit tickets were cheaper last year than in 2018. But the pit was bigger. At HP, the Gold Circle, which reached the s

Other civilised and well developed countries manage fine without keeping a family of human pets in lifelong extreme privilege. I wish we could too. For everyone else who enjoys, please go ahead and enjoy it. Plenty do.
