Ronnies solo on You can't always get what you want is another example of a terrible mixing.

Quoteribbelchips Ziggo Dome Amsterdam. Waaaaaay better accoustics than the disaster called Amsterdam Arena. Yeah, never again that Arena for me. Let's give Paradiso another try. It worked out fine 30 odd years ago.

Last saturday I visited the theater to watch the production "Sympathy for the devil" performed by Pip Lieke Lucas as Marianne Faithfull and Eva van der Post as Anita Pallenberg. (promotion site) They were accompanied by the band Stones Sessions. It was a very entertaining production, with great performances of well known and lesser known Stones songs to accompany the story (rangi

QuoteGasLightStreet Do Stones fans throw their noses at old men's/petty morals? Well, I've had a romantic liason with a 13 year old girl once. (just to make sure: I was of the same age myself)

Actually Chuck never did a version of Little Queenie that is better than the version on Get yer ya-ya's out! But nah, these uptempo versions of No Expectations do absolutely nothing for me. I've seen Mick Taylor doing the song with Bill Wyman's Rythm Kings. For those first bars I thought he had completely forgotten how the song goes, but then he picked it up nicely. I pr

Basically Petty is paying hommage to all his influences. The Stones being one of them. The Heartbreakers are a fine coverband. It's a nice album, with no really outstanding performances. Mike's interpretation of Keith' wild solo on It's all over now shows us how great Keith really is.

QuoteKRiffhard Is this the best live version? It doesn't get better than this. This is what The Rolling Stones is all about. Thanks for posting the link.

Who's playing piano on Ronnies song? Nicky Hopkins or Ian Mclagan? First time I heard it, I thought it sounded like Stu.

Man, that's too tough Great quizz though. It's just that I appear to have little knowledge of the singles to get a respectable score.

I can imagine that everyone who was present at the Waldbühne last night will be glowing for the rest of the year from what they've experienced. Having been served with both All down the line AND Rocks Off, I would have been ready to die, if I would have been there.

All that matters is that people who are present at a concert are having a great time. And that we had! They are not playing for Youtube or whatever online thingamogog. They are playing for the people who showed up to be part of the experience of joining in with The Greatest Rock 'n Roll Band of the World.

I waited a couple of days to see what good memories I would carry with me from last weeks show in Amsterdam, for the rest of my life. 1. The moment Keith started his famous riff to Can't you hear me knocking. 2. Sacha's performance on Gimme Shelter 3. Mick resting his weary head on Keith' chest during Sweet Virginia 4. The French horn opening of You Can't always get wh

QuoteVoodooLounge13 Too many songs on Voodoo??? Do we rail about how many songs are on the fabled Exile!?!? Back in the day we woulda welcomed 100 songs from our boys. Now everything is too bloated or too long or not enough quality songs. For Voodoo, it’s an absolute masterpiece. The crown jewel of their cannon written by a group of men still with something to prove to the world - that they

QuoteTheflyingDutchman Absolutely true. 75 pages already. I don' believe any Stones release reached that number.Aah, I must be getting too old and a bit sour.. To be honest: Blue and Lonesome made us fill 117 pages. And yes, even then some had to bring up Mick Taylor in the discussions. Whoever complains about The Stones repeating themselves: we as fans, are a poor example.

QuoteGasLightStreet Quoterollmops El Mocambo concert rocks hard but that 1997 one is pretty good too EL MOCAMBO and "pretty good" in Chicago 1997 does not equate. Huge difference. Bottom line: We loooove those small venues. They bring up the best in the band.

Lisa was and is absolutely great! Sweet memories of what she brought to the Stones and she certainly deserves to step out of whatever shadows back up singers and follow her own path. I hope she's very happy.

QuoteMathijs Asolute fave's: Shattered, Black Lima, Imagination (no better Wyman than here, and Richards/Wood and Ernie Watts keep going for 10 minutes), Go-Go, Beast of Burden (best guitar interplay ever), Waiting on A Friend (with Richards playing the part everybody thinks Taylor does on record) and the mighty Let it Bleed with Keith's best solo of the day. Then Miss You is the best -

It could be my (poor boys) sound system, but Hot Stuff sounds great to me. Can hear every single note by every single instrument. Lots of space. Maybe it's not everybody's taste, but it's mighty mighty fine by my standards.
