Just read the Watt interview on the other thread and he said Paul activated the super fuzz switch during the song. So that answers my question.

Does Paul play all of the bass in the song or just that fuzz bass and a Stone plays the bass line? I read the story where Watt gave Paul the fuzz bass and he played it and went “wow!” (or something like that). It almost sounds like whatever Paul played when he first picked it up was just looped and inserted into the song as a gimmick: a Beatle on a Stones song! I’m not a musician and don’t know a

We got 27 songs the first show in Boulder, Co in ‘81. Only 25 the next day. They dropped Tops and Star Star. Was that the only ‘81 show that they played 27 songs?

Check out Oct. 4, 1981 ‘Welcome To Boulder’ A little slower and Stu’s piano is turned up high in the mix. Most enjoyable.

Here’s my top 20. I’m absolutely loving this 20 track album. This really is the best Stones album since Exile. I haven’t enjoyed a Stones record this much in, what? 40 years? Also, it has made me realize how difficult it really is to create a classic album. There’s a great deal of luck involved. I mean, think about it; record execs, A&R men, producers and band members all having a say in le

“The crowds were dead and disappointed” I completely disagree. Disappointed? No way! It was the biggest, most fun tour ever at that point in time. Every city they went to was excited beyond belief. At the shows everyone (almost everyone, apparently) had a blast. Dead? Well... maybe we did look a little bit dead. Back then we worked hard for our rock shows. We partied all night before t

I saw them early ‘81 in Boulder and late ‘81 in Phoenix and in Basel, Switzerland in ‘82. My favorite, by far, was Boulder. Yes, Boulder was my 1st show so that may have something to do with it, but even today I prefer listening to my Boulder bootleg over Phoenix or Hampton or Leeds. Obviously, they were making a movie in Phoenix (which was cool and fun) but the show and the band were so much mo

QuoteOneHourPhoto QuoteDan Meanwhile there are states in the country where events seem to be taking place as usual. It's as if these places aren't experiencing the same pandemic. Maybe we can just move some of these events to those states? There has been no event anywhere, in any state, that has taken place the size of or anywhere close to the size of Coachella Sturgis motorcycle

As far as rock ‘n rollers go, Tom Petty was the real deal. I bet if Keith ever wished he was someone else it was Tom.

Quoteschwonek Quoteexilestones Quotemarko Exellent! But the stage was without "curtains",and it looks a bit shorter too. The Rolling Stones at Boulder Colorado's Folsom Field on October 4, 1981 photo by dmanweller It is October now. Damn and it is cold. I wonder why they toured open air so late into the year back then. The show did begin at 12 noon and was over

Boulder was a relatively smaller stadium but the screens weren't there because they were damaged by the high winds in Buffalo. Jagger made up for it with stunts like climbing and even hanging upside down on that cargo net and climbing high up into the scaffolding and performing kinda like he did on SFTD on the '89 tour. Later that year in a Rolling Stone magazine article on the tour R

And... to put Marty ON Topic, let's not forget Shake Your Hips off his '94 album Love and Luck. If you like two guitars (which of course, we do), Marty and Cousin Kenny V. are as good as it gets. C'mon, somebody's gotta be able to help me with Cool Country Favorites. Another nice cover was The Weight. Bowiestone, how was the show?

I also love Marty Stuart. Saw him twice in the last year including last Saturday. I like the new one (produced by Mike Campbell of the Heartbreakers). It's very unique sounding with several instrumentals. Love Saturday night/Sunday morning & the Pilgrim. I have nearly all his albums but I don't have Cool Country Favorites. Can anyone help me with that, PLEASE? A poor mans

I haven't seen this talked about yet. Regarding Love You Live, Keith writes that he and Mick compromised by each getting one disc of the double album. So which one was which? Who wanted the traditional concert LP that was disc 1 and who wanted the disc 2 that was old cover songs on side one & big time war horses on side 2? Keith didn't write which was his choice (unless I missed it

Finally got my Oslo poster on Aug. 26th. #142/150. Like Odeon73, I had to have this poster from the moment I saw it. Ordered it June 2. Following this thread I didn't know if I'd ever get it. But I was patient. I want to thank all the good people at IORR for the heads-up on where to order. It's now at the frame store. I'm having it done in a black frame with matting the same b

Quotedeadegad The trouble with the 81 tour was the sound system and/or unplugged guitars: much of the time the audience heard only noise and not music so much so infact that if it were not for Jagger's singing the audience could not tell what song was being played. It was that bad. The Stones should have been standing at the exit appologizing to the fans and refunding their money.

Hi, Aquamarine. My Dead poster is numbered. It's framed & hanging up in my little mountain cabin so I can't see the numbers on it right now. I don't have a Cardiff poster, but I do have a snowmobile hood hanging in the rafters that has the dragon with tongue on it. A friend did it for me on my old '99 Polaris hood & it looks awesome. Really, a beautiful piece of work.

My dad is the same age as Elvis (would be). Which reminds me, my parents saw Elvis perform in Vegas. I believe that if you don't like Shattered you weren't there in '78. (I was gonna mention that in the other thread).

PMS came on at a party at my house & the song sort of irritated my dad. I have pretty good variety of music & he rarely comments on any of it but he didn't really like that song. So, if my dad doesn't like it then it must be a classic, right? BTW, I like 'em both but I've always kinda preferred UTR.

Aquamarine, thanks for that link. Did you see the poster? 25,000 of them made! 64 available. $6.50 to $800. Reading some comments it mentions 550 numbered ones with a border. Mine is one of those... I was also able to check out this old Nirvana poster I got when I saw them 3 months before Nevermind came out (June, 11 '91 in SLC). Didn't have any info on the poster other than saying 4
