Although I find Lee "Scratch" Perry to be quite odd, I just listened to a new tune on his album featuring Keith Richards. Take a listen, it has a nice groove. Wayne

For what it is worth, lately Ronnie has been playing (and singing, for him anyway) really well. I have noticed on his radio show (thanks again for posting it on here) that his "noodling" around between songs is quite good. Also, his vocals on his new tracks are the best he has sounded in a long while. Wayne

For a while he sang backing vocals live but hasn't done that in years. YEARS ago he wasn't a terrible singer, Ooh La La as an example. But years of smoking and drinking have ravaged whatever voice he had and he should not sing. keith on the other hand doesn't seem to have been impacted by the booze and smokes in the same way that Ronnie has, as far as singing is concerned. Maybe he was involved, maybe not. WHo really knows. Makes sense if he was. But I would highly doubt there would be a reunion or Mick Taylor rejoining the band. I would doubt they would want him and I would doubt he would want to tour on the scale that they do. It's all history, great history, but history. Wayne

Quote71Tele .11s or .10s. .09s are for "lead" guitarists. .11s take abuse. All string guages are for everybody, you have to find your comfort level. Granted, they will all have a different feel and slightly different tone. As far as 9s being for "lead" guitarists, someone should have told that to SRV as he was using 12s or 13s most of his career. The 5 string set is a hybrid. I think he uses 10s or 11s depending on the guitar. HOWEVER, don't buy strings because you think they are what Keith uses. There are many brands out there and are made out of different materials as well. Many guages too. Look around, experiment, find strings that work for you, your style and comfort. It will make you a better player. Wayne

QuoteRoll73 The harp mic that he used was probably something like a Shure 'Green bullet' mic. These are radio mics that date back to the late '40's and give that really raspy beefy sound. Pretty much any blues harpist worth a damn would use one of these. And they would also most likely play through a low wattage amp such as a 15w Fender Champ. Yes and no. I've been

I believe the song is in the key of A, so typically that would mean a D harmonica if you are playing blues. I think he is playing this in second position. As far as harmonica tone, less has to do with the type and more has to do with the player and their technique. Most of the blues greats used a Marine Band. I tend to lean toward Suzuki Harpmasters though. Wayne

I wasn't aware that it was an issue. My thought was to get opinions from people that are into the type of music that I play. Nothing more than that. I didn't see it as a big deal. The intent isn't to sell, it's for feedback. Wayne

The first EP, 45 RPM, is only available for download. Those are the original versions of some songs that we redid for the new album. Torn and Frayed is available as a CD or download from cdbaby.com and ITunes at the moment. I'm also working on putting an album review on our website from Bill German. Wayne

I've been posting here for a while now. My band, Lone Shark, recently released a new album of original material titled Torn and Frayed. Thus far it has received some positive review and some local radio airplay. I'd be curious what you all think of it. Some of our songs definitely have a Stones vibe. You can preview the entire album on our website Lone Shark Website and clicking on
