When I paint my masterpiece
The ruler has the right to make impulsive decisions and not stick to newly new measures he introduced himself. Just in the same way a dictator does. First he announced it was forbidden in February to say the name of You Know Who. Half an hour later he changes his mind and announces this: "March will probably be very much like Feb. Same with April. Bjornulf IORR moderator and dictat

Good one, WMiller.. By the way I had understood this to be a public forum where people can discuss the music made by a band that is known all over the world. Maybe this means it can not always be discussed in exactly the way as preferred by one person. That would be a bit limiting, wouldn't it ? If you prefer to stay in your living room without interference from the outside world nobod

Why should the word dictator not be appropriate if his methods resemble those of a dictator. Moreover he just called himself a dictator (before I mentioned the word). I'm just following what he did. Like an obedient citizen should.

KeithDaMan, So there's now a law against mentioning the name of a key member of the band that this site says it is about and if anyone questions if this law is right they are just talking crap ?

I'm sure that was part of the reason for his decision. He's now turning on his fax machine. Their spokeswoman Fran Curtis has just told him he will shortly receive a formal request (signed by Jagger & Loewenstein) to erase MT's picture from the front page.

So two threads on a key member of the Rolling Stones have been closed within two minutes. The webmaster of this site has just disclosed that his policy is that nobody is allowed to say MT's name here anymore. "It's a policy issue and it's not open for discussion". Interesting decision to say the least. It's also in line with the policy of the Stones PR peop

Mofur, I was just wondering if writing in a different language (Chinese or something else ?) would have been more effective. It wasn't actually meant as a personal attack, just the result of getting frustrated with talking to deaf ears. And I did read your previous post about speculating. As With Ssoul said before it's possible that not everyone is speculating. If you are agains

Doxa, I think you're right about Keith not doing many favours to people that were/are part of the band. Plus in the end it's usually Jagger who has the final say and goes along with the suggestions from big record companies who are putting forward the acts they want to give some publicity (money gets offered in turn for the exposure). It seems your metaphoric way of speaking might b

No, Mick T. never received a lump sum payment from the Stones. They simply stopped paying his share of artist royalties in '81. Why would he even consider signing off on his right to receive royalties unless there was at least a couple of millions offered. They would have to compensate him for all future royalties generated by the albums he helped to create which were released on RSR, t

With ssoul, where does it say that both performing artists as well as the songwriters get mechanical royalties ? I can't find that anywhere in the page you referred to. Mechanical royalties are paid by the record company to the composer of the song (in England 8,5 % of RRP for each record pressed). Usually there is a publishing company involved who acts as a middle man. The songwriter a

OpenG, the only royalties that MT gets for Stones records are those that are part of the Decca catalogue (mainly Brian Jones era). Decca came to a seperate agreement with Taylor in the mid 90's. Taylor's lawyer and Decca worked out that since his work is embodied in a couple of records (like Let It Bleed) it's fair to account to him and pay him a percentage based on the number of

Ah, at least someone has been paying attention and has recognised the pattern that has been there since the 60's. By the way OpenG, MT was on a salary for like 2-3 months. They were really in need of a new talented guitarist because they hadn't done any touring since '67. So he was made a fully-fledged bandmember, quite a while before they left for the States in '69. His righ

Nonsense. You probably wouldn't look you're best when you're 57 and you have to sing and play guitar for 2,5 hours after coming down with the flu and finding out that same morning you can't even speak because of a throat infection.

J.J. Flash, He was not exhausted because he did a short tour. He was exhausted on Saturday night because he was already ill (flu + serious throat infection) before he started the show on Friday. Despite all this he played both nights till about a quarter to two doing all the singing, lead guitar and rhytm by himself which takes a lot of energy and focus even if you're feeling well. It

On some nights even guitargods can be human. Nobody can be perfect every night, especially not when you're exhausted or feeling ill. Maybe computers can be flawless but for some reason I don't enjoy listening to their guitarplaying very much.

At least he had the nerve to try this out in front of a live audience (sold out venue as well). You have to take into account this was only the second time they played it in concert. Apart from the Radio 192 session (Nov '01) Taylor hasn't touched TW4NO for thirty-two years. The Santana-esque feel to the solo makes this a pretty difficult thing to play by most guitarists' standar
