Maybe a so-so year to actually live through but the music was incredible. Classic releases by Steely Dan, Sparks, Black Sabbath, Tom Waits, King Crimson, Beach Boys, Herbie Hancock, and the previously mentioned releases are from 1973. And Brain Salad Surgery is the best ELP album

Quoteslew Undercover gets unfairly slagged in my opinion. This is the last time the Rolling Stones recorded as a viable relevant band. They took chances and did some different things. It's not Sticky Fingers but it's also not a bad album. Undercover of the Night is a brilliant song, She Was Hot is a fantastic fun piece of rock n roll that should be played live more often, Tie You Up

Wow. I still can't believe they released those Universal CDs with such bad mastering. I first got really into my Stones fandom right around 2004-06 so I had most of the 2002 SACDs and 1994 Virgins by 2009

Genius song. Awkwardly titled but this was one of the best songs they had done yet, and in retrospect just as good as anything from 68-72

QuoteJumpingKentFlash I’m still on the Do It For Charlie bandwagon. 2021: US Tour 2022: Release album and have ONE farewell concert in London (You know they love having that synergy going of media buzz/new album/shows/merchandise). They could even bill it as The Last Show or something. And then call it quits after that. This way it’s a nice way to go out, and it’s been stretched as far as i

I was listening to the 2002 LIB CD for the first time in over a decade and I heard what is apparently a random snippet of Midnight Rambler very faintly in the left channel between the chorus intro conclusion and the first note of the french horn. I must have listened to this hundreds of times and never noticed this. Does anyone have any information as to how this could've happened, and if it

Good song but maybe too long. Should have been edited down.

Not bad but not particularly scintillating either. Lyrics are kind of stupid but that's to be expected from something that was apparently written quickly. I'm at least glad that Mick seems to have accepted his fate as a rock stalwart instead of a pop star-in-waiting

Yeah it really could have been a decent album. Strictly Memphis alone is better than anything that ended up being released. Maybe it was too happy and upbeat for them to even think about it including it?

Yeah I think this one aged really well. Keith's bass playing is killer and those various interlocking riffs and note runs are basically perfect

Nobody's Perfect is a little plain-sounding but a million times more pleasant than anything Mick ended up contributing to Dirty Work. In general I'm just floored that they chose to release what they did over this track, Deep Love, Strictly Memphis and a few others. They had the material for a perfectly decent latter-day Stones album and just completely shat the bed

It really is incredible to hear these tracks. Some of these I haven't listened to in over a decade, and none in such pristine quality. Had some things been different, we could have all spent the last 30 years saying that the latest Stones release was 'the best since Dirty Work'

Finally got to listen to the whole second disc. I honestly don't know why Mick insists on tampering with these outtakes. Does he really think so highly of his singing abilities that he thinks these old songs will honestly be improved by lyrics and vocals done 34 years later? His new lyrics for Lucky In Love (Don't Be A Stranger), I Can't Help It (I Love You Too Much), and No Spare

I'd always heard that Claudine was intended for Emotional Rescue rather than Some Girls.... Either way, I hope they left the original vocal for it intact. It had finished lyrics and everything and it would be pointless and awful to hear 2011 Mick singing on this one.

Quotegotdablouse Direct link : DON'T BE A STRANGER has to be a new song, not an easy vocal, decent job for a guy pushing 70! It is not, it is available in it's original form on the second disc of the Place Pigalle bootleg under the title "Do You Get Enough?" (also sometimes called Lucky In Love). Mick seems to have completely re-written the lyrics for this new version,

The LAST thing they need to do is record a relaxed, rootsy album of blues, country, reggae, and rock ala Stripped. That would the the most boring record ever and would actually seal their fate as burned-out, feeble senior citizens in a rock band. Mick needs to stop sticking his lips out and sing his music like a @#$%& human being, not a caricature of one (ruined many songs off of A Bigger

Mick sounds great! This can only mean that he CHOSE to adopt that brutally amateurish tone-deaf timbre on ABB and on the last 2 live albums. Why couldn't he sing like this? He clearly still can...... Also, does anyone know which ones have new vocals recorded over them? And which ones have original vocals, if any?
