I remember the review of Goats Head Soup by Greil Marcus in 1973 in which he stated that if you used as a yardstick what the Stones recorded 10 years ago then you would be missing out on some really good music. And no I did not read the review in 1973...I read the quote in a Stones related article. This is so very true as there is some excellent music on Tatto You and Undercover and going forward

I agree with BV simply because of the nature of some of the postings. I would much rather focus on songs, albums, live performances and any talk of how a song came to be or how a track was recorded and the like. Mathjis has always stated that he does not care for a discussion regarding the Stones personal lives and that is a good policy. As for Rocky and MCDDTLC..."What I believe his warning

Good point...everyone stay cool and lets just discuss......... Taylor was paid about $50K US in 1981/1982....this is from interviews and from someone that is in the music business, this money was paid as a result for his seeking legal advice regarding the royalties from Tattoo You. He did not sue the Stones. MT has not received much in the form of royalties from the Stones and that is what his

I seen Blondie Chaplin playing guitar for Mick Taylor in a club outside Philadelphia in the early 90's, when Blondie toured with MT. Blondie sang backup all night and was pretty good on guitar.

Regarding the 1989 HOF induction............I recall interviews with the Stones and Ronnie and they all stated that they wanted Mick Taylor to be there. IN addition, Ronnie said that he was asked by Jagger to track down Mick Taylor and make sure he was there for the Stones.

I love MT and like Ronnie.....and I am sure this will upset some people but I beleive that MT has been destroyed by drug and alcohol addiction. He has his moments but there are times when I look at him and I think "what the hell happened to the guy". He looked good up until the eraly 90's ( I seen him almost half a dozen times up close at small clubs in the Philly area.) I realize

Mick divorced Rose Miller in the mid 70's. He then had a child with a woman in Miami in the early 90's in which the relationship did not last. MT married a woman named Valerie who became somewhat of a manager/protector, attempting to keep MT away from various substances and people, not always sucessfully. Their relationship is somewhat unclear as he has been seen with Marlies for about

Has anyone ever posted that Blondie actually toured with Mick Taylor in the early 90's and that is his initail Stones connection? I seen them at a club, the Ambler Cabaret in Ambler Pennsylvania and Blondie and MT were both great.

I would have to say the peak was 1973. They were very good live up to 1981 but it has been strictly for the money since 1989. Lets be honest, if another band that did not have the Stones history put out Steel Wheels through ABB would they be this huge? No way. Just look at the setlist, playing 35 year old songs because that is what the fans really want to hear

MT himself has always said that the Stones do not let Ronnie really play. While I prefer MT I thought that Ronnie was great on Some Girls and the 78 tour. I also believe that he has been treated not very well by the Stones for a majority of his tenure. Remember, he was a paid employee for 20 years and since they did not tour after 82 up until 89 he probably was unhappy about that. I also tend to

Mac himself has said that Mick felt he would be a bad influence on RW, which is kind of a joke considering KR is around. Mac should be the piano player.

OpenG I think the answer is simple. MT was angry at the Stones and saw Jack Bruce as his way of a different, if not solo, career. MT stated that when he went to the Clapton concert in 73 with Jagger he got the idea in his head to do his own thing like Clapton. And lets face it, most of the top bands at the time all had members with drug problems. Also, MT said that Keith's drug problems w

It has been written that MT's wife, Rose, had began using while hanging out with Anita and that MT was using also in 1970/71. MT himself said in an interview that he went off the deep end in the early 80's stating that he was "worse than Keith, using needles and the works". This is from an interview in the late 90's when MT said that he had finally kicked heroin. His comm

What is amazing is that how many Stones fans will defend Keith and rip BJ amd MT and even RW or BW as if Keith is this great guy. Keith is very insecure, treated most of the Stones like dirt with his gutless, personal and immature attacks and comments. This is the same guy that was wasted for years and has had MJ carrying the Stones for a long time. And is no one tired of the same bulls*** storie

Stranger...excellent post and as a Taylorite I have always had concerns about MT and yes I am a Taylorite that does not put down Ronnie as they are friends, even though I believe RW knows he had some very large shoes (BJ and MT) to fill. Plus........if the Glimmers love Ronnie so much why did they not pay him fairly either for over 20 years? He was paid $50K per year and for touring (read tha

Interesting thread as I always enjoy Mathjis's points and insight. I find it disgusting the jokes about MT's weight and him being called "quitter" on some postings. Lets be honest, would RW have money or a career if not for the Stones? In addition, RW has battled crack, coke and alcohol in addition to who knows what but has Stones money to see hime through. Not bad for a gu
