Texas 78 indeed! Charlie is amazing! Mick's greatest performance of the song, better than the studio version. In general, 1978 is better, more fresh and energetic than 1981 or 82. I'd say all songs played in 78 also played in 81/82 were better performed in 1978. And Shattered is a great example! Ronny much more together. Mick singing much better, less running around. Charlie much much b

Quotebeachbreak The Beatles were generally old school and melodic with their song writing. Stuff that could have been written in the 40's and 50's and sung by the crooners of that era. Examples are Elanor Rigby, Yesterday, When I'm Sixty Four, The Long and Winding Road..............the McCartney influence. I believe I read where his father played in a 40's big band or somethin

The Beatles were pop, they surely were rock. The Beatles were alot of things. And mind, if you turn off "1" after just a few minutes, it safe to say you miss out on the best of the good stuff. Mind you, the "1" album is way way too short to represent the Beatles in any way of fairness at all.

Well well well, go compare the Live in NYC with Winston with WOA. Or any Macca live 70s. That'd remove some (I Guess all) of the miles of distance from John to Paul. Ringo? George? Miles between them, but both lightyears below J&P. Of course, I might be totally wrong.

QuoteCome On Yeah, and I can immediately rank the singers quality after hearing this: 1 John Lennon miles step ahead here 2 Paul McCartney 3 George Harrison 4 Ringo Starr What, based upon this? John singing three notes of his range and Macca being all over the place? Johns TONE is fab during Come Together, a true John classic vocal. The medley...; John vocalwise, is a throw away.

Taylor, by a long shot. Ronnie's too clumsy. Brian's too limited and fret toutching. Taylor's slide playing really's elegant!

I would love him to do more solo/Wings tunes rather than Lennon or Harrison songs. (He now does Eight Days A Week - Macca somg, but originally Lennon lead vocals, Being For The Benefit of Mr Kite and Something). Hi hi hi, is great news, and he does it well, better than I'd thought. But what about Letting Go, Beware My Love, With A Little Luck, Daytime Nighetime Suffering(!), Getting Closer,

Macca plays piano on 9 out of the 36 song played on this current tour, That is 25% of the songs, Rest is standing up playing, 75% of a three hour show is 2 hours 15 minutes, 2,25 hours carrying a guitar/bass. How long does the current Stones show last, sans the Keith numbers? Now, I am a fan of both Macca and the Stones, Both are old and past their prime, and I tell you, over at the Macca Forum

Naaah, I just think he's still scratching his head wondering what he thinks about the show, after the experience with the Paris club show in 2003 where he raved about the show here just after it, and sort of dismissed it altogether not long afterwards.

Quotetatters Quotescottkeef tatters, DESS released a cdr version of the ultra rare Brazilian only "Abbey Road" MONO LP but I really dont have the "smarts" to know if its a fold down or not. It does sound different tho! (Guess according to this is was a fold in(down?) I also went back and checked-there was a Brazilian MONO Let It Be too.(fold down again? I guess) It ha

Quotejpasc95 I see Mick Jagger voting for the Conservative, not sure Keith gives a damn, Charlie Watts for the conservative, Ron Wood just doesn't care Do you think I'm wrong ? Mick's an Obama and Clinton (and Carter) supporter, as far as US politics go. With that in mind, I am not at all sure he would vote Tory in the UK. Nor Labour for that matter; somewhere down the middle, I

I mean, LA Friay is great and the sound is great and the energy level is just amazing. Charlie was at his very very best, IMO, during this tour and the 78-tour. Now, If You Can't Rock Me is in the top five, or maybe top three of Rolling Stones live moments for me. Never heard Ronnie better; vey melodic and rythmically great great solo(s). I agree with som of what's been said about Jagge

A 69-show, a 70 show and a 72-show in top notch sound quality would be th three shows I'd want, as we now have 73, 75, 78 and 81 out there/here officially, in great quality. If another two were to be released, gimme an 89 show and a 71 show. I am sort of afraid anything from 62 - 67 will be hard to get into great shape sonically due to the recording-, an live sound technology, or lack of rat

QuoteMathijs This was the best Stones experience I have had, just as simple as that. Loud, mean, raw, rude and crude, right in your face. Jagger was fantastic, and I have never seen him like this. Wyman showed that with two broken fingers you only need two fingers to be the most fantastic bass player ever. Watts was encredible, I can't remember I ever seen him play like this. This film b

I sent an email to the cinema company in Bergen, Norway. They sais they had turned this film down. The reason for that was explained by Shine A Light not doing well at all when it was shown there a few years back. I said this was something else completely, and much better, and a one off, but knew I had lost already.

Me? The original. And many of the 1972 live ones. Some of the post 89 ones are fine, but just fine. Not tough, mystical, driving or full of energy (live 72). IMO.

This is simply fantastic. Best Stones news in years! REALLY looking forward to it. Who would have believed; a concert film from one of their very very best tours! The best shows on this tour and 1972 are unbeatable in the energy department! Whats next? LA 75? A full 1969 concert? The greatest of Stones news, this is!

QuoteLieB If the person you are discussing with likes vocals to be "clean" and "strong" and "well mannered", I suggest that you show some good soulfoul stuff where Mick is not grunting and barking too much. The latter is certainly part of his style and should be recognized as having a great quality of its own, but I suggest you stay away from the sloppier stuff from

OK, Whip might be quite equal Seattle vs Hampton, but the gig as a whole, vocalwise. Take She's So Cold in Seattle, way way better vocals than Hampton. More daring, as in many numbers from that time during the tour. Let's Spend TNT is another.
