My obsession sounds like something that could have been on the beach boys Today! album. I read that Brian also like Fool To Cry.

Kind of an odd clip to use as an example, IMO. Maybe I need to watch it again. That being said, I think both of the glimmer twins are very bright and knowledgeable, and both have their own unique perspective. I enjoy hearing their take on things.

QuoteTaylor1 Quoteryanpow QuoteTaylor1 Melody is a lame song On Opposite Day...On any day.The music was written by Preston , as Bill Wyman has said. His piano and vocals dominate the live version. At least on the studio version Keith plays some nice licks. El Mocambo has some songs which are as good as anything they have done live, like Hot Stuff , Hand of Fate, Tumbling Dice.It also has lame stuf

I like how he changed up the lyrics to Melody. When it goes from " My car, she took my trailer home, she took my Sunday boots" to "She took my tailored clothes, and she took my Sunday hat". It's elegant, yet somehow trashy at the same time. Quintessential Mick.

As of late I've been listening to the slow blues songs: WLB and LRR, as well as Melody, on repeat.

QuoteMathijs QuoteThe Sicilian The El Mocambo version of LSTNT is the absolute worst version of the song I've ever heard. Knebworth was pretty bad as well. They didn't get it right until 1981. Mathijs If you're not a fan of the arrangement, fair enough (though I disagree), but I don't think it's fair to equate it with Knebworth. That version is a train wreck.

Quoteschillid +2 After only two years +10 Pondering "Ten years ago ... " On longevity (01:30) ... I've always found Mick's interviews from 73' Australian Tour interesting. It reminds me of the off stage persona he employed on the 78 tour.

This was an interesting time in show business when there was a new generation coming up, while a lot of the old Hollywood establishment was still around.

It was a cool interlude. He helped them get funkier. It was also cool when eventually they got back to the core band.

In a way, This show is kindd of like the Stones version of The Last Waltz. It marks the end of an Era, and it's about being in the moment and celebrating.

Quotehbwriter I think "stripped down" refers to the environment, mood and vibe-- coming off of two years of shows that started with the trumpets heralding Fanfare for Common Man- the excess- the battleship size stages- the ATTITUDE was stripped down- and it shows in the brilliance of the performances Yes, this. There's also something in the playing, like on Route 66 for example.

QuoteTaylor1 Quoteryanpow QuoteTaylor1 Quoteryanpow Indeed, there is something about the playing on this show that reminds me of the 78 tour. And there has always been something about they playing on that tour that reminds of GYYO. It's like they were returning to form. They were as good if notbetter in 1972 1973 and 1975 than1969 or 1977.There was no form they needed to return to u

Keith and Ron, and the Stones in General had such a specific sound and way of playing in the late 70's and early 80's...they put so much of their own personality into it. It can only be "imitated, not duplicated", as they say. I think this is true of any of the eras up through the 80s, the main point being no one else can sound like them.

I like LSTNT from this show. It's experimental and pop-sounding, and a nice way to mix things up, IMO.

Quotejackflash27 I read some posts here, and on the Steve Hoffman forum about the 'arena' sound on the recordings. People mention the big echo on it opposed to the 'clubby' experience it should have. I don't understand and hear this at all. On my equipment (which is probably a bit above average quality) it just sounds as a club recording, the way it supposed to. So where

QuoteGazza Interestingly (or not), while they've left in the between song banter from LYL from the 5/3/77, the actual band intros are missing so either they come from another night or (more likely) they just edited them out. The 'Alright Margaret' shout out to Mrs Trudeau just before 'around & around' on LYL has also been omitted! I'm guessing the intros
