"Cross eyed Heart" can have a double meaning. It may have a religious connotation.

I hadn't listened to it in around 30 years, and it sounded fairly decent just now. I'm not crazy about the lyrics or the singing. It's not bad like Hold Back or Winning Ugly.

Wasn't "mixed Emotions" the last legitimate hit? Keith's track.

Yea, more or less. This became more of a jan and Dean situation by the time A Bigger Bang was released. It seems to me that Keith's skills vanished after Voodoo Lounge probably due to health related issues. Bigger Bang does seem to be very Mick and there are some nice tracks like LIND and some nice lyrics on LMDS.

I think Keith had a large role in writing "I Got The Blues" and "Worried About You." He also wrote some of "Memory Motel" and some of "Far Away Eyes" on Some Girls.

Being intentionally unpredictable is kind of vain. Being accurate seems more noble.

It probably is mainly a keith song. Minimal lyrics derived from Robert Johnson ideas, not unlike "you got the silver." Still I would be suprised if Mick didn't have some lyrical input. Oh and let's not forget that Keith isn't totally selfish in giving credit for songs. He says that "Before they Make Me Run" is a collaboration, but Mick says Keith wrote it al

Hello, no one made the connection between "Jack" and "jumpin jack flash" in a song about getting "one more shot"?

I'm shocked that none of you Stones experts made the connection of the "Jack" reference as being at first blush a Sinatra gimmick, but then having it sink in in context. That being "one more shot" as a tribute to Mick, and "Jack" as a reference to "Jumpin Jack Flash." I always get the feeling that Keith laughs at people who judge his lyrics which fl

So if he had a drum machine, and short rap by Jay Z, that would be called "orignial," but in reality it would really be trend following. Quote24FPS The problem is that it lacks any originality or effort. It's a bigger throwaway than Sad, Sad, Sad, or some of the dreck on Dirty Work. One song, one decent song is all Keith had to come up with. I think it's time to admit th

Everyone has their own opinion and no one is going to please everyone. With that in mind, I think what Keith wants to do is stay true to himself. So that means producing raw, unfinished songs of a very personal nature. And yes, many people like this song and many people don't. It just boggles my mind that people who like classic stones don't like this. This is heart, balls, raw guita

I like the riff on Doom and Gloom. I think he's trying too hard to be clever throughout the song which can detract the overall effect an amount of soul. Kind of an Elvis Costello trap. I like One More Shot better.

Anyone know how this song was written? Supposed to have started with the title based on Gram Parson's wife sending him flowers in the mail from the U.S. to England. Very little is said about how the song was written. Keith sings a version with the Highway men. I imagine Mick, Keith and Gram worked on this? It seems influenced in many ways by "Let it Bleed." It's kind of wh

You had great albums like LIB, SF and Exile during that period. I don't think Beggars Banquet is all that good, but it does have three good songs.

I'm not sure what we're supposed to get over. There's many instances of inconsistency around Rolling Stone's Songwriting. In Keith's book he calls "before They Make me Run" a collaboration. On the other hand Mick Jagger has stated Keith wrote it by himself. My hypothes is that Keith gave Mick more credit on certain songs so that his book would not totally de

Just did a search and there seems to be many consistent references to MM starting out as an accoustic demo by Keith Richards and then Taylor worked it up from there. No one argued that point for many years. What I'd like to know is if anyone heard demo? I don'ti think any one believes this was all Mick Jagger.

That's the old story. It was an accoustic ditty by Keith that Taylor worked up with Mick Jagger in the studio. The new story from Keith's autobiography is "the whole idea of it was Mick Jagger's and the the band just showed him how to play it." I imagine it was probably a little accoustic number from keith that Taylor had a heavy hand along with Mick Jagger in worki

Well I don't know what a "finer mind" means. Does it mean Mick makes better musical decisions? Does it means he makes better relationship decisions? Does Mick make better business decsions? Quotesuperrevvy I'm sure many of the social anecdotes are true and amusing The insider stuff is fiction, and approved by Mick. The description of Mick as "furious" is

I like Sleepwalker, but seemed pretty well influenced by the times thus detracting from the identity of the band. On the other hand, I was pretty happy they decided not to use the "Can't Explain" riff on any of the songs. That was a welcome decision.

So the real story of Ruby Tuesday is Brian Jones had that recorder melody and Keith worked off that to come up with lyrics and the vocal melody. When you listen to the recorder melody if becomes clear that this should be credited to both Keith and Brian. While vocal melody is different, it's not all together different. The problem is Brian has never suggested he helped write Ruby Tuesday

Another one of those tough, rugged, gritty, deperate Keith Richards style lyric concepts like Soul Survivor, You Got me Rocking, Connection, Beast of Burden, Jumping Jack Flash, Gimme Shelter....
