My favourite tour. Hampton is a definately a career highlight. But yes the first couple of shows - - especially before Ernie Watts joined them - were very sloppy indeed. They should have kept Tops in the set list (they dropped it after a week or two). Ernie should have played Mick Ts guitar parts. Could have been a killer version.

Talking about JJF.. the first couple of concerts in 89 included the studiointro. Interesting. But it didnt worked. Never been a fan of the 69/70 versions of JJF. Love most of GYYYO but never been a fan of JJF.

Well I'm not a big fan of the Steel wheels/Urban Jungle tours. Cheesy keyboards, sterile sound, too slick, no soul... But ,as someone said, it was the late 80's. It was impossible to sound like they did in 81/82. And it was a very important tour for the band. And the "middleoftheroad"-way of playing the songs actually gained them a lot of new fans. Still Life is good. Probobly the best version ever of UMT.... But the album isn't that important any longer since we now have an "official" release of the Hampton show.

Best liveversions ever of: Shattered, Neighbours, Imagination, Time is on My Side, Beast of Burden, Let Me Go, Let it Bleed, WOAF, Miss You. Best post 69 version of Satisfaction. There have been criticism of the songs being played too fast. I've never felt that way. Never. Start Me Up is the only number that doesnt really work ...
