Quoteflacnvinyl Chicago 1 & 2 and they were great gigs. I am still holding out hope that one day I will get to see them play a Chuck Berry song! Have seen them 13 times since 1997 and have yet to catch them playing a Chuck Berry tune. That's too bad. "Little Queenie" was pretty common on the '97 tour.

The opening night in DC he popped up through the floor which was pretty cool except it happened in daylight. A few weeks later, in East Lansing, he sauntered on to rapturous applause and did a long, sweeping Three Musketeers type bow before turning 180° an joining the Bo Diddley beat of NFA. The latter was more dramatic, actually. If memory serves. SFTD wasn't played in those early shows and

Quotecrholmstrom Quoterob51 Wish I could have been at either of these shows. Caught them in Seattle instead and they were blowin off the stage by the J.Geils Band. I went to both of those Seattle shows. J Geils were good but I wouldn't got that far! I saw the tour in Pontiac and there was a large contingent who, for years, said SANTANA blew the stones off the stage. As if.

Factoring in the windchill we expect to be -20°F by the Great Lakes today. We have so much global warming piled up in the sidewalk, drives and streets we are running out of places to put it.

Rock surely seems to be dying for me. I'll be 57 in a few months but I still buy records and go to shows...when there ARE shows. I live in healthy, medium-sized Midwestern town. Our state of the art 12,000 seat arena is five minutes from my house but I haven't been to a show there since last June when RUSH was in town. We get Katy Perry and Bruno Mars and all of those interchangeable co

I was there ALL DAY. It was fabulous. They kept the music coming with a minimum of interruption... Sam Roberts, Kathleen Edwards, faux Blues Brothers, The Guess Who, Rush, AC/DC (the latter two had an hour each) and then.... nothing. The Stones kept a half million people waiting for over an hour in the dark. When they finally appeared they turned in a lackluster, rote performance highlighted by J

If I were to guess the ABB don't work ENOUGH to satisfy Warren and Derek. Ten days at the Beacon and a handful of Summer shows isn't enough to be on call for in lieu of other opportunities. You can't just replace Warren with another guitarist because he's been the one running the show for the last 20 years much like Chuck did after Duane died and does now for you-know-who. War

Everybody heard "Satisfaction" pumping out of little transistor radios belonging to cousins or camp counslers or babysitters in '65. I was eight that year. 4-5 years later some friends and I got out one of their brother's copy of "Beggars'." We proceeded to chase either around the basement family room shouting "WHOOO! WHOOO!" which, along with the

Sympathy needs to be refreshed and rethought. It hasn't changed in arrangement or show placement since 1989. The only slight exception was when it was used as an encore in the 1999 "No Security" shows. "Sympathy'" should be used as an opener. "Pleased to meet you, hope you guessed...."

Early in the show on the first night at the Pontiac Silverdome in 1989 some jackass in the second or third row threw what appeared to be a full beer at Mick and doused him pretty good. Never losing his composure (or the beat) we saw Mick summon a stagehand and whisper something to him. A few moments later the stagehand appeared with a full bucket of water which he dutifully handed off to Mick who

ABB would have been a classic Stones album IF: 1. It had been pared down to 10-11 songs including "Under The Radar" and IF 2. It had actually been recorded by the Stones as a band rather individual members layering parts over a demo which negates any possibility that the music might actually swing or that the ambiance of the studio might actually be captured (think bass and drums

I attended the taping of the PBS special in Chicago on the day after Christmas in 1992 which was a damned hoot. Also saw the '93 show in Detroit which was great. Nonetheless I think I preferred the '88 tour which I also saw in Detroit. They were on fire every place they played.

Should the baby boomers "leave the stage" ....... ? I would argue that, by and large, they've already done so. I was bemoaning the lack of cool shows (in my 56 year old mind) recently. There are none coming to my state this fall. There are NO arena type rock acts on the road, really. The Stones did their residency thing in the States, perhaps for the last time. Phil Lesh is doi

RICK RUBIN has the unique ability of sweet-talking bands into recording in the form and fashion that made them popular to begin with. That's Rick Rubin in a nutshell. If he could convince the Rolling Stones to record live, in the studio, AS A BAND (not a bunch of disparate ProTools patch-ins), then I think we would all have a reason to celebrate.

QuoteMunichhilton New Google Mini Doc too where they give it up to the Stones as their influences: Apparently Mick Jones attended Hyde Park 1969... Go get it. "No Elvis, Beatles or the Rolling Stones / In 1977..." I was a HUGE Clash fan back in the day and they never would have acknowledged a Stones connection back then. I didn't realize until later how much the Clash

A friend of mine promoted Chaka numerous times in the '80s and they became quite 'friendly,' as it were. They both shared a fondness for certain morphine based narcotics. One time my friend settled a show with her tour manager and simply hopped on the bus. We didn't see him for two weeks. He came home after the party favors ran out / and or Chaka's husband figured out wha
