QuoteJMoisica What does week 16 mean in this context? And are normal civilians ever able to score club gig tix? It's just my guess. Week 16 is the week before the show. The opening show in Houston is at 28th of April. I'm thinking they want to do a club show to try out new songs from Hackney Diamonds before hitting the stadiums. If you are at the right place at the right time + have a

I was just reading an old Rolling Stone’ article from the 1975 tour, where The Stones are heavily criticized for high ticket prices: 10 dollars each. One could argue that they have always been accused of high prices, but always sell out etc. However, 10 dollars in 1975 equals 60 dollars in 2024. Ticket prices of 600 dollars in 2024, would be 100 dollars in 1975. In other words: The prices are pra

It is well established that Sympathy for the Devil started out as a rather boring folk song ballad by Mick, that was turned into something else by Keith. The groove came from Keith's bass, which Charlie followed. The true masterstroke, in my opinion, was to substitute the acoustic guitar rhythm parts with Nicky's piano. Another masterstroke, was Keith's idea to do the "whoo-ho

QuoteStoneage ...So, Brian got 50 percent of the gage and the others had to split the other half? Not too far away from the truth. On the 30th of April 1963, Brian Jones met Andrew Loog Oldham and Eric Easton at Radnor House (Regent Street 93-97) to discuss a record contract between Brian Jones on behalf of The Rolling Stones and IMPACT Sounds. This was the basis for the contract Impact Sounds

Big Al: unfortunately the new Wembley Stadium is notorious for its horrendous sound. It has been reported time and time again. Echoes all over the place. Guardian critic Alexis Petridis wrote this: “the sound at Wembley tonight recreates the experience of trying to listen to Fleetwood Mac with your head submerged in a tureen of soup”

QuoteCaptainCorella Quotebv Wembley Stadium (12 shows) We're getting a bit archaeological here. There's a site in Wembley. On it once stood the original Wembley Stadium (built in the 1920's) the venue for many Football finals and where England won the World Cup in the '60s. Also the Stadium where The Rolling Stones played many times (arguably their Home Pitch) a

Billy Preston talks about it in the unofficial documentary Just For The Record, but I don't remember what he said. My guess is that it gave Mick an opportunity to prance around, dance and do that rope stunt.

QuoteTaylor1 Brian was a founding member who was instrumental in creating the band and it's unique sound. He is not overrated. With respect to Sympathy he most likely was important in turning the song from a Dylanesque folk song to the percussive album version. He was experimenting with African percussion on Satanic. But of course Mick and Keith wrote most of th

Definetely overrated. It is a very hip take to make online that Brian Jones was the true genius and the rest of the Stones are suckers. Most of the comments come from ignorant people with little knowledge though. Right now I'm reading the comment section under Sympathy for the Devil from Rock and Roll circus. One comment: "Fun fact: The original tempo was so much slower... Please Thank

My guess is that Mick has notebooks for each session filled with ryhmes and lines that can be used in different songs. Beggars Banquet is riddled with Biblical references, lines were shuffled across Exile etc. 95 % of Jagger lyrics are written from the "I" or "You" perspective. This is the beginning of Emotional Rescue: "Is there nothing I can say, Nothing I can do&qu

Thanks to this site I’ve scored great tickets, met great people and learned rare stuff about my favourite band. The IORR is a community, online as well as in the ‘real’ world. So thank you Bjørnulf for the great work you’ve done for true Stones fa

The vulnrability of the song strikes me considering the context of the time it was recorded. The Stones were perhaps at their most hedonistic and dangerous at the 1972 tour, but 1975/76 was darker, more tragic and sad. The coolnes of Hot Stuff, Crazy Mama and Hey Negrita was a bit false, an image covering the real state of affairs that is revealed in Memory Motel. Drugs had now become a serious p

I admit I get easily carried away when it's The Stones! But crazier stuff have happened before. I remember a 'glitch' from Ticketmaster in 2006, selling tickets front row at Twickenham Stadium for something like £50 for a few hours that were all legit on show day.

I'm wondering why some are getting cancel and refund, and others get delivered their tickets with bar code. Two theories: I chose to have a ticket insurance. And I remember from cancelled shows in 2020 that refund for tickets paid for by MasterCard went fairly fast and easy, but it was a bit more hassle with VISA. Now I paid with VISA. Maybe that's got something to do with it, I don
