Great record. 1981 the videos of Hampton pay per view. Then 1982 they came to Europe and played like they played on that record. It was different from LYL ; they played faster. Rockandroll, Mops

QuoteLeonidP “The Raconteurs: Live at Electric Lady” I got into them w/ their first album several years ago, but sort of forgot about them. Good info, fast forwarded a bit thru the clip and it sounds really good. I think I'll get this EP! I bought the Dead Weather Horehound album a few years ago, I recall liking it at the time, but haven't listened to it either in a while. I need

Rocks Off lyrics; " I was making love last night to a dancer friend of mine I can't seem to stay in step 'cause she come every time that she pirouettes over me"(1971) That beats the strangeness of the foresight of LIAGT! Rockandroll, Mops

Quotemaumau QuoteDoxa A quick look to the charts in which popularity is supposedly nowadays counted. "Living In A Ghost Town" has now 5,9m plays in Spotify. That makes it #69 in their all-time list. If compared to their latest efforts, it is lurking behind "Doom & Gloom" (6,3m, #67) and still three single/video-released cuts from BLUE & LONESOME are above it (a

The lead singer's voice is great ; not really trying to sing like Mick but he sounds like he owns the song. Nice tones and good pitch; an American twist on that classic Stones'tune. Rockandroll, Mops

Blind Faith were a great band, great musicians but individually these guys were not the "life of the party". A group of "depressed" souls playing for a recently(1969) dead musician was not really a set up for wild and crazy party. Maybe that could explain the way they play UMT. Rockandroll, Mops

Quotebitusa2012 I used to love Southern Comfort, ginger ale and ice. Yummie. This thread makes me think though...I haven’t had one in over 20 years and have an unopened bottle of the Comfort in my bar. Would it still be any good??? As in, ok to drink. Would it have gone “off”? That was Janis Joplin's drink of choice; very very sweet and good. I bet you it is still good; try it! Rockandrol

Rebell Yell : One of the worst bourbon to drink but probably the best name. I tried a bottle long time ago; very cheap, less than $10, long thin neck, easy for grab&swig. Rockandroll, Mops

About 15 years ago I started a thread of the same name. It was successful for my own standards. Then it disappeared when things were changed on the website. I still find myself thinking about a good liquor with a quality/price that could match my budget. I still love Bourbon. I knocked down a 1.75l of EZRA BROOKS over the last 2 weeks and it is a good one. Picked it up at the store ,randomly, fo

Usually on this board they are posts that are extreme but fortunately other posts counterbalance these outrageous views.I know people love to have fun and they have favorite targets; I think Bono is One. But IORR is a good place with a lot of different opinions. Rockandroll, Mops

On the Steel Wheel Tour the Rolling Stones show was super professional; lot a the songs sounded close to the originals, no shenanigans, fast and energetic tempos and the physical shape of the musicians was impressive. Hats of to them to be able to produce that type of work. I like when the Stones are less perfect, more musically nasty(78/81-82). Anyway they do it, it is exciting to listen to the

I saw Rory in Orleans, France (1985?). During the show he broke 2 strings, one after the other. He kept playing with 4 strings that he opentuned on the fly(still playing the song) and replaced the strings himself(still playing) and finished the song. @#$%& unbelievable!!! What a guitar man. I was looking through a Rolling Stones book called "50" and there is a picture of the Lotus stage during a show at earls court in 1976. The stage is set up at the center of the arena with the audience surrounding it. A portion of the public had to watch the band from the back it seems. Did that stage revolve at some point? Again listening to SFD of LYL on channel 717; not complaining just enjoying the way the Stones played that song in 1975-76. Yes the version on GYYYO is fantastic but the 75-76 is fuvcking wild. Mick is barking like a maniac and Keith is whacking the riffs away while Charlie is going crazy on his tomtoms; Woodie is fingering his guitarneck downlow by the bridge like the devil he was. My observations on Steve Jordan ,from that video, seeming to be the musical director was a compliment to Steve. Keith had other hats to wear on a Winos tour. Keith&Steve complement each other and that is Keith's philosophy about work and life; what is the point of doing everything on one's own? Rockandroll, Mops

To answer my own question; yes Mick and Keith met Johnny in 1978 at a rehearsal studio in Chicago S.I.R. Johnny was drunk and "obnoxious" to Mick but Jagger took it well. Got that info from "Raisin' Cain" (page 228) written by Mary Lou Sullivan. Great book about Johnny. Rockandroll, Mops Here is a video from 1970. Johnny on the French TV.

I have listened to the Stones channel a lot because it is like an endless playlist picked up by someone else so there is a little bit of a surprise factor. It is somewhat repetitive, not too exciting for hardcore fans. But it is the Stones' music nonstop which is practical and enjoyable. I have noticed that the station plays solo music from Keith and Mick but not from Ron and Charlie. As th

Producers come in different colors. I think Mick and Keith don't need a bossy dude, the Phil Spector type. Others musicians may need that kind of boost but the Glimmer Twins, no way. The type that works for them is the shrink type. The type who listens to his clients and make sure they don't self destruct but come up with something good, fitting the personality of the band. Don was is t
