QuoteRocktiludrop QuoteDandelionPowderman I liked the «triple intro» with the Barbarians! But Keith is playing the chorus in that Minneapolis-video, methinks. Yeah that's nice, out of curiosity which version do you prefer out of this one or the one he played the other night in Minneapolis. This one!

They played some songs from TY, LP2 and Wembley, gave some background on the recording of those etc. There was a quiz with nice prizes from Universal. Two of the guys in the panel on stage are /were journalists, and they have met the Stones numerous times. So the obligatory stories were told, of course. I liked the one when Tim Ries insisted on sending Charlie Watts cloudberrys, during a dinn

Our RobberBride launched his brilliant book, «The Curious Chronicles of Villa Nellcote» at the Tattoo You release party in Oslo on Tuesday. The book tells the story of a single villa on the French Riviera, from its conception in 1899 until 1974. It is the result of six years of research, told through unknown photos, private journals and family archives. Dominic Tarle has contributed and

QuoteGasLightStreet QuoteDandelionPowderman According to Kimsey this version is from the BAB-sessions. That's not about the deluxe version, though, it simply says 'first reggae version' or whatever as in that's when they started working on it. This is an earlier take than the LP take from 1977. Have you read the book that came with the superdeluxe-set? Kimsey is saying

QuoteTheflyingDutchman What book is this Bård? The right column doesn't quote Chris Kimsey, ' ' as you can see. Apart from that I don't want to rehash the entire subject. It's from the Tattoo You superdeluxe box set.

QuoteTheflyingDutchman QuoteTravelinMan Facts: Keith Richards never speaks of the song; it’s obviously a Jagger song Mick Taylor said he played on it, and they worked on it in LA There is an acoustic and an electric guitar on the Tattoo You version There's no acoustic on the official release; if there's a second guitar it's an electric, something that is difficult t

QuoteMelBelli This one is probably my favorite of the bunch. It’s got an edge to it. The opening lick sounds to me like what they did in the outro jam for “Heartbreaker” in ‘73, no? Indeed.

QuoteTaylor1 but could the guitar in the left speaker that plays the riff from the Dobie Gray original be Taylor? Classic Keith. Clean sound without vibrato. Sounds like they did some of these soul covers for IORR while Taylor was hospitalised (like with Ain't Too Proud To Beg).

And he also said that they kept Mick's vocals from back then. I remember Mick saying that there weren't any vocals on it. Looks like this one (sort of) remains a mystery

This confirms it for me that it's Jagger on acoustic on Waiting on a Friend. You can first hear it at 0:27. It's low, but it's there. Albeit I'm not sure just how reliable the notes are. I'm on my way to the store to get the 5 LP vinyl superdeluxe right now. The digital mixes with this kind of compression is meant to sound ok on several devices (phone, headphones from phone, computer etc.). The dedicated vinyl mix will sound good, like most of these releases do (with a few exceptions).

QuoteKRiffhard QuoteJordyLicks96 QuoteDandelionPowderman Drift Away had the old vocals? The two songs with their original vocals are Living In The Heart Of Love and Drift Away. Everything else has new vocals. Start Me Up seems completely new and redone...not only new vocals! It's the backing tracks of Never Stop, with new guitar overdubs from Ronnie and new vocals. It's brilliant!
