Hello all, I was listening to SiriusXM this morning and they played a version of RW's Tell Me Something. It sounded like a demo or a remix. It didn't have the gloss that the version on the album has, RW's vocal sounded live (unproduced) and the solo was different. Anyone know the story behind this? Are there outtakes from the I Feel Like Playing sessions available? Thank you

Hey all, I just finished this book. Read it in 1 day. Nothing new here. In fact, other than certain "insights" and notes, most of us have read 95% of this before in one of David Dalton's books, in Rolling Stone, etc.--errors and all. I must admit that I'm disappointed with myself for buying it. I scanned it at the book store and knew what it was going to be, If you hav

As for Studio 54 in the late 70s....many discos at that time....Keith's description , while the use of the word "Faggots" may put some off, is pretty accurate. I was 16 the first time I went there. It was wild. I'd never seen anything like it. I don't know if "faggots" were there but there were a hell of a lot of queens running around in various states of dr

Thank you Palace!!! It was indeed my inattention to the D string! I was playing all of the strings. His sound is so fat but once I started messing around with the individual strings, it started to come together. It's a blast to play and sounds awesome through a cranked Mesa Mark 1!! Thank you so much! You made my week.

Hello all, I've been losing what little brains I have left trying to figure out "That's All You Need" by the Faces. Some of RW's best playing. Love the song! I'm tuned to open E. I have the intro down but when the slide starts..it's over! I start at the 5th fret and then get lost. Nothing I do sounds right. I saw a video on YouTube by "janmurf&qu

I love this series. I saw a documentary on it and they showed these kids from Ireland singing Love Rescue Me and the music was recorded 1/2 a world away. Brought tear to my eyes. Really moving. Biko was also really cool.

Hello all, I have been attempting to upgrade many of my Stones shows with newly created or newly found recordings. Right now I'm working on 1975-1977 shows. My El Mocambo recording(s) are likely 5+ years old. The title of the recording I have is "Live At El Mocambo Club 1977"---this may not be the original title of the recording. I am wondering if any new or better soundin

QuoteTheGreek CYHMK off of love you live . that to me is ronnie's best solo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wrong song or wrong tour. CYHMK was not played live by the Stones in the 70s. I do believe the New Barbs did a medley with the riff but I'm not sure of the circumstances or if I'm even right about the band, timing, etc.

Why is that many of today's rock stars dress and look like landscapers and out of work gas station attendants vs. rock and rollers? I mean really! Where is the make up, the hair, the clothes, the jewelery??!?! Like Hughes said "I want my rock stars to look like rock stars". Aside from the metal bands, most of these guys look like roadies. I get that due to the unfortunate fi

I've been listening to the 1975-1976 tours and not to re-open old wounds but I simply love his live playing during 75-78. His solo on YCAGWYW on Love You Live, while likely overdubbed or at least re-mixed, is outstanding. I also love the solo on Brown Sugar from the same disc. I agree about Wild Horses from Knebworth as well. His rhythm work on LSNT and CS Blues from Woodstock 78

Jamming With Edward, Sister Morphine (there are 2-3 different versions), Love in Vain are the most popular. Ry claims that the Stones had the tapes rolling while he was just messing around and jamming so there is probably some stuff in the vaults as well.
