The original Bob and Earl Harlem Shuffle is just a great song, from the intro, the chorus, the horns, the booming drums (the drums in particular show how much the room you record in makes a difference....the LACK of technology made for some great sounds and this song is a great example), the great lyrics and the singing. Keith said while promoting Dirty Work, that he had been trying to get M

It is lighter. He said he stopped using the 'Pauls because of the weight. The Black Gibson compared to a Tele is lighter. There are also the tonal considerations. Keith uses to old Fender amps that just sit on the stack and he is also hooked into the small white amp that you see on stage. The Fenders are clean tone, the little 30/50 watt amp is on full distortion. Tele's by nature

A movie was made about Grams death and the theft of his body at the Joshua Tree. It is called "Grand Theft Parsons" starring Johhny Knoxville and Christina Applegate. Never released in theaters, but available on DVD. Grams manager, the person who took his body into the desert, was an associate producer. The movie starts with Gram dying. I have watched about half of it and it is

She should not have shot her mouth off on foriegn soil about a war her country (and others) are involved with. You wanna complain and bash your American President.....do it at home. Thats an unwritten rule. She learned it. I hope their plane gets lost in the Bermuda triangle. As for what is going on in the middle east.....the verdict is still out. I have been playing just about 22 years. I will not "rate" myself, I would rather leave that to others, plus with all the different styles, etc...how do you really rate? Is Clapton better than Richards......how do you rate? they are totally different in style. I play what like Rock, blues, country, any style/song that I get a feel off of. Some techniques I use: slide, fingerpi

First.....Just the Four Stones, (kinda like BANG) Mick and Keith start putting the songs together like the old days. At this point I think Ronnie should be included in this process at some point and be credited. Record like they usually do....live in studio. No over producing except for maybe trying some unusual ideas: garbage can drums/regular drums in the stairwell. Same for other inst

Buck was a cool dude. He could play guitar quite right. Watch how many people come to pay their respects to Mr. Ownens. He may have moved along but he sure left us a lot of music that will never die. Thank you Buck. Milo, NYC With a smile on his face and a teardrop in his eye

I feel that Voodoo was the Bands best tour, but let me explain. I see it at 3 era's of touring: 1-Era 1-1962 until 1968 where the band could not be heard 2-Era 2-1969 until 1981: they were loud, some eye candy, daytime stadium shows where the band members looked like ants for most people, the low tones rumbled around the arena/stadium. Keith called the shots onstage

Whether you like it or not, at least each tour has it's own "stamp". Musically (aside from the second half of the setlist) I think the BANG tour has found the band performing in a good way: 1-This could be called the NO POSING TOUR as compared to LICKS, everyone is pretty natural onstage again, thankfully. 2-Not too much eye candy 3-The giant screen (In my opinion the re

Don't forget the THOUSANDS, if not a few hundred thousand people who got the entire album for free on line (WinMX, LimeWire, etc). I got the entire album that way before I got to actually by the CD. I also got "Radar" and "Don't wanna go Home" for free thanks to WinMX. 40 LICKS CD sales don't count because that was greatest hits CD. Sales have nothing t

Recording a new album, Spending Millions on preparing for a 2 year tour, banking on Ronnie stays Sober, Charlie does not have any more cancer issues and somehow, convincing sponsers that Keith will in fact survive a tour since he has been on borrowed time since about 1975. Thats guts. Half the band was almost dead a year and a half ago and last night they just smashed Japan with a great show

Hopefully Mr. Wood's appearence matches his health......the sign that he is boozing/drugging is the constant cigarette. KR is KR. The hat is nuts but look thru some older pics, all the way back to the 60's....the hats are no surprise. Re: The hairdye....whats the big deal? I feel that "Too Tough" is the strongest track on the album. At first listen "Undecover"didnt catch me, but over the years I have grown to like the song a lot. It is a unique song in a way (electric over-dubbed drums..80's 80's 80's) for the Stones but that beat just kicks ass and I don't feel that it sounds dated, a talent the Stones have for making

Yeah, TIC and WS would have been great Stones Albums....but they are not. KR and MJ pissed away many good, potentially great songs. A shame. With that said, The last "true" Stones album, written by MJ and KR like in the old days, came out a few Months ago and it's called "A Bigger Bang". A very good album, in any era, that will age very well with time. IF. IF, BA

For everyone that complains that the band plays the same setlist and their live albums are 50% warhorses......HERE IS THE LIVE ALBUM YOU HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR, THE "ANTI-WARHORSE LIVE ALBUM". From all the things I have read KR and BW just had different personalities from the get go. Bill was older, married and pretty "square" compared to MJ, KR, BJ. From KR's point of view BW must have gotten even more straight when KR was smashed on the junk. If you look back over their history I think its fair to say that Keith probably goofed on Bill in many different ways

Gazza, Most overrated Artist, and I use that word loosely.....Andy Warhol. All he did was @#$%& ouTline pictures and apply pastel colors. His only saving grace is that he designed the Stones tounge logo, if I am not mistaken, and if that is so, that was his only original (and best) work, otherwise he traced pictures like a kid with a coloring book. @#$%& Looney that he was. I like the setlists you guys have put together. I may use them to burn some CD's. After 15 shows (going back to 89) I would love to hear either of the setlists mentioned above........with one exception. Satisfaction has got to go. Put it to bed. It is NOT their signature song anymore (most likely JJF) and it could be argued that they have several "signature" songs: JJF,

No attack from me. The Stones are in a league of their own, and have been for a a very long time, I think the reason is because of their songs and performing the songs as a live band. Stones shows have been a spectacle since 1972. Their strength has always been that they are a peforming band. I have yet to meet someone who has not left a Stones show wide -eyed. We all know the buzz of energy t

Hey Dr. Pete Tell all the Blues players......Muddy, Howlin Wolf, etc, Chuck Berry, The Everly Brothers, (should I go on?) that The Beatles were the first to write and perform their own songs. They are overrated. Live Playing? They could have hit the road in 69 and be heard. They were a pop band. They broke up 36 years ago 2 of them are dead. They are overrated. PS: Did you s

The Beatles. Beyond overrated. Manufactured Silly pop musicians that acted silly. The Stones never acted silly or sang silly songs. When the Beatles got sick of themselves and tried to be serious and tried to make rock songs everyone got sick of them, especially the band itself. Another reason they are overrated is that they almost never performed live........if you are gonna be a rock band yo

The solo during Start Me Up became an anticipated point in the song during the Steel Wheels tour. Prior to that, they played it live the way it was recorded, with extra licks here and there. Caught 4 Bigger Bang shows (3 at MSG, 1 at Giants Stadium) and I thought Woody played the song solidly. Milo, NYC My feet are hurtin'
