This a great album....fantastic guest appearances, particularly in the guitar department. Great songs too, along with Ian's vocals. Stand-out tracks - Title track - Defiance, Bed of Roses, I Hate Hate, No Hard Feelings, Guernica and Angel (with Waddy Watchel)... that's most of them actually! Rock til you drop Ian Hunter! Always brilliant live too.

I heard Mick say say something about this on stage. It sounded like he was joking to me.... "The avatars aren't quite ready yet, so you'll have to make do with the real thing." Taking the piss out of Abba was how I perceived it.

A great character and an even better songwriter. I saw The Pogues several times back in the day. I count myself very lucky... The gigs at The Barrowlands Ballroom, Glasgow are the craziest I've ever attended. Absolutely wild..and no matter how lubricated Shane was, he always delivered.

QuoteGazza Quotepeoplewitheyes By the way, once-time Stones biographer Philip Norman was just on BBC Radio 4's PM show casting a very disparaging view of the new single and band as a whole. What's his beef? He's an absolute dick. Updates his 'biography' every time they have a new release/tour with a brief chapter covering a decade that seems to have been put together s

Possibly Van's greatest ever live performance! At least that's recorded. Nearly spat my beer out when he started doing those high kicks at the front of the stage. Have seen him live several times and it's been a mixed bag. He is consistently grumpy though....

Of course I don't know either man personally but it's hard to imagine two more different personalities than Ronnie and Van.

Bruce was fantastic in Edinburgh last night. Great set list in my opinion - 29 songs and The Boss was onstage for every minute of a 3 hour show. Not holding back when it came to the vocals either. Quite emotional during spoken intro to Last Man Standing. Excellent sound at Murrayfield stadium. And finally - fantastic earrings on Steve Van Zandt! Sun was shining and my section of the crowd

Very interesting. Bill is always busy it would seem. No regrets about leaving the band - fair play to him. I do wish he'd either grow a beard/moustache/goatee or shave properly though....

I was getting ready to leave home to see Chrissie Hynde in concert, playing the songs of Bob Dylan. I got a text from a fellow Stones fan and friend which simply said: "Holy shit".... I checked the sad news online then had to leave for the gig, feeling upset. When Chrissie took to the stage, she said that she had just heard the news about her friend Charlie Watts. Said she'd

RIP Paulie Walnuts........ I will watch a couple of classic Sopranos episodes tonight and raise a toast to one of the great characters in the greatest show of all time (in my humble opinion)... It's impossible to imagine any other actor playing Paulie.

On Friday, the Hope & Anchor was open til 1am. It was a fantastic night - a big thankyou to the guys in the band for putting on such a great show ( I really wasn't expecting to hear Can't You Hear Me Knocking two nights in a row). So after the gig on Saturday, I was really surprised to find that central bars which were heaving, would suddenly announce they were closed with no l

Fair play. That's your honest opinion. Can I suggest you do something else with your spare time? You clearly don't really enjoy The Stones anymore so good luck in finding a hobby that brings you more pleasure.....

Would anyone be interested in this swap? My mate from USA got a GC East ticket. When I searched, East were sold out so I got a West one. I now see that East are back on sale again. Would anyone be willing to swap so that we can stand together? Alternatively, if someone wants to buy my West ticket for face value, I can then buy an East. It's a long shot but worth a try.... P

So proud of our fantastic captain Eve Muirhead and the Scottish lasses for beating Japan 10-3 to win Gold in the Curling. My wife is Japanese but graciously accepts that the better team won No disgrace in the Men winning Silver in an extremely close final. Congratulations to Norway too. It's always good to see countries with small populations punching well above their weight.....

QuoteDoxa Quotecrawdaddy Well! Team GB will come away from the Olympics with at least a Silver, and hopefully it will be a Gold in the men's curling Final. The women have still got the semi finals, and hopefully our girls will get a Bronze at least and really wish they will get a Gold or Silver medal. Damn, I didn't know that Great Britain is a helluva curling country! Good luck t

Sad news....What a bass player - Mr Heavyweight Sounds. I especially love his work with Black Uhuru. He played bass on Undercover of the Night didn't he?

Peat & Diesel, a fantastic newish band from Isle of Lewis, Scotland. Saw them last night live for the first time and it was a riot! Mixture of traditional folk music and punk. A bit like a Scottish version of The Pogues.... This song (My Island) comes with a fantastic video, highlighting some wild and rugged places.

The bit when Mick sings "I've got the dearest friends of all" reminds me of Mott The Hoople. Probably one of the ballads from their Mott album. I'm sure I've heard Ian Hunter's voice singing the same melody. Or maybe I'm imagining it.....

Excitable Boy is a great album. Waddy Watchel on guitar. I listened to some more of his stuff on Spotify but it didn't quite grab me as much as the songs on that album. I think it's maybe time to have another listen. I'll check out the above 5 songs ,,,,,

QuoteJohnnyBGoode One of my favorites is Muddy Waters Hard Again. That version of Mannish Boy will add 4inchs to your pecker! Agree 100%. Utterly brilliant from start to finish. That version of Mannish Boy will also put hair on your chest and make you scream randomly like Johnny Winter...

The penalty cannot be described as 'soft'. It was quite simply a total dive from Sterling, with zero contact. He conned the referee and cheated Denmark. What is the point of VAR if it can't correct an obvious error like this? There were also two balls on the pitch just before it, so the ref should have stopped play. Oh and an England fan shone a laser pen into the goalie&

QuoteHairball QuoteTaylor1 Keith is a great artist but trying to make him a tough guy with a knife is laughable. When has he ever got into a fist fight with anyone? He’d probably have trouble with Elton John. When has anyone ever challenged him to a fight and Keith complied? This stuff about him pulling knives on people is ridiculous In my neck of the woods, them are fighting words.... Keit
