Quotebitusa2012I’m sorry. I love Keith but if Keith played like this every night I’d be asking for him to have a ghost player. That’s bloody awful. Let Keith be Keith? Seriously? That is seriously SERIOUSLY bad. No excuse for a band that charges $100s ($500 of them in Australia) to see and HEAR that? Please, no excuses. To be fair, he is sounding just like his hero Chuck Berry when he was pushi

My only hope is that they call it a day before their musical prowess significantly fades (not that I think that time is here yet). Jerry Lee Lewis could barely sing in tune during his final years yet remained a fine pianist, whereas Chuck Berry played guitar poorly but remained strong vocally, as well as physically fit. I don't expect an 80 year old to be the same as they were at 20, 40 or e

Quotecrholmstrom In a way they are all new songs without Charlie. To my ears, the sound has changed considerably. Charlie was a huge part of the Stones sound, not always acknowledged as such. He is missed for sure. Agreed, and ditto the post '90 period without Bill. It wasn't just the leaving of BJ/MT that changed their sound.

QuoteDandelionPowderman It's been a while since Mick talked about his distaste for nostalgia, hasn't it? At least since 2012 Nostalgia isn't like it used to be.

QuoteStoneage Forget it. Jagger is not a "storyteller" and has no interest whatsoever in an intimate relationship with his audience (except some girls a-f-t-e-r the concert...). Dream on. My thoughts exactly. The only way this perhaps might work is if Keith Richards did it as a solo project/tour.

Love the studio version, but I also think this was the highlight of the 1969 Hyde Park documentary:

QuoteTheflyingDutchman QuoteJan Richards Most of the songs on this record were studio recordings with added screaming on top of the music. The Beatles didn't do that ? Yep. SGT. Pepper was merely The Beatles imitating GLIYWI (having said that, 1963's 'Chuck Berry On Stage' was made up entirely of dubbed studio recordings).

Quoteyeababyyea QuoteCongratulations No disrespects to Charlie, but I believe they have more chance of pulling it off with Steve Jordan than they would've with CW in recent years. Those live versions of '19th Nervous Breakdown' from last year have more energy than the versions from the Voodoo Lounge era! They didn't play 19th Nervous Breakdown on the VL-tour. The BTB-tour ve

Quotefranzk QuoteHairball First thought that came to mind - trainwreck. Love the original studio version with every bone in my body, but can't imagine them playing a worthy/cohesive version of it in their current state. It's fast and probably a bit too quirky for them to do it justice these days, and n fact according to setlistfm, they haven't played it since 1966. Can'

QuoteKingbeebuzz Shows from the UK 1966 Autumn tour were recorded to create the album Got Live If You Want It. The recorded shows were Newcastle 1st Oct 1966 both 1st and 2nd shows / Bristol 7th Oct 1966 both 1st and 2nd shows plus it is likely that some audio recordings were made on 23rd Sept 1966 at the opening London show at RAH before it descended into total chaos. The tour set list (wh

Great choices, but for Fats I'd go for his big breakthrough Pop hit 'Ain't It A Shame' (aka 'Ain't That A Shame') instead.

QuoteBig Al I do also think that Rock Around The Clock is amongst the handful of recordings that genuinely shaped and pioneered rock 'n roll, alongside Heartbreak Hotel, Maybellene and Peggy Sue. I can't argue with those, and would also add Whole Lotta Shakin' Going On, Bo Diddley (the song), Bye Bye Love and Summertime Blues.

QuoteSpud I've never ben troubled by doctored live albums. They're doctored to make them sound better . Glitches, bloopers and sonic shortcomings may be lost or overlooked in the experience of a live show ... ...but you don't want to hear them over and over again on the record ! I disagree. I think most (all?) of us own some warts 'n' all mixing desk or radio br

QuoteBig Al Congratulations, I really liked Rihanna back in the day, too. I could certainly name more if her hits than those of Bill Haley and The Comets! Haha, I couldn't name 1 song by her, ditto Taylor Swift! However, I own a couple of box-sets of Bill Haley, and he was proudly the first artist I ever saw live as a 16 year old back in '79. I guess I'll always be first and for

George Michael was a huge talent and a wonderful entertainer. The Nolan Sisters! Pah! He was also the complete antithesis to Rock 'n' Roll. Anyway, I know which one I prefer...

QuoteNashvilleBlues QuoteHis Majesty Brian wanted to leave the band though, but maybe not the perks that came with being in the band. See Bill's Stone Alone where Brian mentions wanting to leave during a session in May 1969. The split was inevitable and mutual and obvious to all, he just needed a push. A push, or maybe help? Bill was threatening to leave for years (at least as early

QuoteHis Majesty ...just makes it obvious he's @#$%& up, that he needs to leave and the Stones need to replace him. Not a very enjoyable thing to observe. There have been many times over the years when the same could be said about Keith, and indeed Ronnie (and possibly even Charlie during his 80s flirtation with heroine). The Stones somehow got through it all. They may well have done t

QuoteDoxa Damn, there is more wild, joyful energy in GOT LIVE than in all their other major and more 'professional' and 'serious' live albums put together. More fvck ups and mistakes, too, but that belongs to the picture. I have never understood why people are so tough on it... I still recall the first impression I had the album: I didn't know anything about its all fakin
