QuoteChitown23 I am now a happy owner of this extraordinary book. Beautiful book, very large and heavy! Fabulous education on Stu. Cool print by Ronnie. Shipment was very fast. The Stones are my hobby and this book needed to be in my collection. A work of art! Thanks, Will! Thank you so much Chiltown23 - with the fall in Sterling in the last week the book is 7% cheaper for US buyers than a w

QuoteBruceK The book arrived yesterday and I am 2/3 through reading it. It is by far the best book on the early years of the Stones that I have ever read (and I have quite a library of Stones books)! I have not been able to put it down. The text is fascinating and I have never before seen the vast majority of the photos. The list of interviewees is phenomenal and they are actually being open

QuoteGeirGG Is it shipping from the UK? And if so is the shipping included? I live in Sweden, but I guess there will be all sorts of customs etc if it is shipped there? My son is studying in the UK, so I could maybe have it shipped to him. Hi GeirGG - we add DHL shipping so customs straightforward but if you want more information please by all means email me direct - will

QuoteThe Worst. To elaborate a bit more of important events in autumn 1962/spring 1963 that shows Brian Jones was the sole leader of the band… An interesting advert in Jazz from the 14th of November 1962 said: ROLLIN’ STONES A Shot of Rhythm & Blues. Mick Jagger – Brian Jones and the R&B Group. Anytime, Anywhere. This gives the impression that the band had two leaders, Mick

QuoteJumpingKentFlash QuoteThe Worst. It is true that there was a fusion of two fractions, Brian and Stu + The Dartford Gang (The Little Boy Blue and the Blue Boys: Mick, Keith, Dick Taylor) that would eventually become The Rolling Stones. The question is who the engine was behind this fusion. From my limited understanding and knowledge, this is approximately what happened: *7th of Apri

Quotedeeeskannnie In a handwritten letter by Brian Jones to an early fan, dated May 4, 1963, Jones himself says this about it: "The band is really an amalgamation of two bands. The one being an R & B band I formed about a year ago, and the other being a group run by Mick and Keith in S.E. London. I was introduced to Keith and we decided to pool our resources, so with Stu from my band,

QuotePalace Revolution 2000 I too had thought that some tracks had been done entirely in LA. And now I also don't think so anymore. I base that on the remarks by people who were there; the same ones that have already been quoted. Also on the genesis of certain songs. E.g. we know that "Lovin Cup", and ADTL had been kicking around. "Virginia" had also been around. 'A

Quotegeorgie48 Only known photo of Stu at Brian’s funeral This photo has meaning in the history of The Rolling Stones! With Mick and Keith absent at Brian's funeral, Ian, who was the first to respond on Brian's add for forming a band, shows that there is much more than hidden dislike. He was often not happy with Brian's attitude, he didn't like the name "the Rollin&

QuoteHonestman] I've been late to get a copy of your book but some years ago I succeed. Hard to tell with the Stones which book is a must-have, but this one along with Exile belongs to the list. The stories and pictures are priceless. Thank you Honestman. Having compiled and edited Exile as well as doing the same plus publishing Stu I appreciate the compliment. To very different book

Thank you Fillmore for your kind words - I hope you enjoy the book& the RW print. Every copy sold means a great deal to me personally as aside from the time and the treasure expended it was my hope that family, friends and fans would get a kick out of it. KR still refers to it as the “bible” along with the other many compliments it garnered. Books ordered this w/e should arrive on Tuesday.

From my personal perspective as an occasional Publisher (and long time editor of various Stones & other related titles) Bill German's 2009 memoir "Under Their Thumb" remains unarguably one of the most significant books ever written about the Rolling Stones and sits alongside Greenfield's STP & Booth's True Adventures of the Rolling Stones in a very short list of t

Thank you VoodooLounge13. You are correct that the binding costs have risen significantly. That said, the current price of the book/print has taken that into account and whilst there is not much profit margin per book (and never has been) it would really need a further significant up-tick in inflationary pressures for me to raise from the current price. There has been (rather like Vinyl) some

QuoteGasLightStreet Quote24FPS Way, way out of my price range. I hope someday to read it somehow. Did Bill participate? Wow. As in, holy shit, wow Just a bit shy of $1000 US! $943.86. I know this comes as a surprise to some and I have tried to address this before but as this is a Stu thread forgive me for doing so again. I conceived the idea of the book and then went out and interviewe

Thank you Woody! - I had a lot of fun making it. There are still copies of the book (which comes with a signed/numbered Ronnie Wood print) available (950 copy edition). Please do contact me if anybody wants further information but there’s a small video on the web site. As much as I appreciated the warm words from the Rolling Stones during and after publication, the most important to me was how mu

QuoteVoodooLounge13 What does that mean he can’t hold the price when binding remaining copies? Aren’t the books all bound already and just need to be shipped? I’m going to start saving my Pennie’s for this one. It means that I have the books hand-bound in batches as that is the only realistic way with small binderies. Unfortunately whilst I have held the current cost for about 8 years the

I hope that clarifies.

Quotecrawdaddy I only recently found out that Stu lived in Sutton area here in London, and also went to Tiffin Grammar School in my home town of Kingston. I always thought he was born and bred in Scotland. Tiffin School was one of the Grammar schools in my area where the bright kids who passed 11 Plus exam went to. 10 minute walk from where I lived and used to compete in the school sports

The book was not to raise funds for Stu’s son. The Rolling Stones collectively paid the school and university fees from 1985 onwards.

There are still a few books un-bound left for sale. I'm going to have to push the price up to reflect increases in costs for binding & to reflect the appreciation in RW prints so shortly to be £1200 (which even then is a 20% discount to Ebay). For IORR supporters - we will continue to change the current quoted rate and include a Estate stamped original photograph.I do this as I have r
