They have worked on this thing in multiple places .. in various combinations .. Band sessions .. one on one .... in isolation etc. etc. LA- NYC - London (we've also heard they did a little in Paris ... who knows where else?). Now they need a couple more band sessions to finish it he says. The Stones have got to have amassed a huge amount of material over the last five years. No

I suspended him from the group for a while. I determined that he wasn't agreeing with me enough so I told him to take some time off and think about things. Har-har. In seriousness I do miss his insight (it was always darn good). I am glad he is ok and I look forward to him deciding to hop back on.

QuoteHairball QuoteIanBillen QuoteHairball This thread's just getting warmed up - more remixes and the official physical copies coming soon, not to mention the dozens (hundreds?) of cover versions on youtube... Only one song, and the first original song in nearly eight years...might have to wait eight more before there's another, so might as well make the most of it. I'm a ghost

I like the way this radio edit mix is and the direction it was taking rather than the original single version. Micks vocals are not so thin (sound much better). It's a bit more groovy and sluggish (<< and I mean sluggish in a good way). One could tell this is the way the original was taking shape for the album (which is what I figured because hearing the single version Iknew it was no

QuoteRockman Still love ta hear Mick's original jam/demo with the unaltered dark/weird lyrics .... Some of it is not going to work and some of it was a bit weird and a bit too dark. So I slightly rewrote it. I didn’t have to rewrite very much, to be honest. It’s very much how I originally did it.”Mick Jagger _____________________________________________ They should o

Is not auto-tune folks. By the way .. people use "Melodyne" now ...not auto-tune! The vocals had "Melodyne" on them...See here >>>> Ima sure (basically EVERYONE uses it and on every track believe it or not) ... however what you hear in Ghost Town is an effect ...not tuning. Melodyne did not create this effect. Melodyne is almost impossible to detect .... eve

My thought's are still the same about the song .. Note: I want to make clear .. I listened to the song about three or four times the day it came out and about once every day since. I didn't just play it once and discard it. Not a loser of a song. It is fresh .. unique .. however still Im just not nuts over it. It's mmm ... 'ok'. That's where I am with the n

QuoteHairball Good to hear from you Ian, and good to read your honest input regarding the new song. But since you've been such an eager beaver to get new material (for years now), and your frustration was always evident with the amount of time they were taking, I guess this could be a case of "be careful what you wish for". Now they've finally released some new music, bu

QuoteHairball I feel slightly bad for Ian Billen who briefly mentioned in the new song thread that he doesn't like the new tune for whatever reason. As he was one of the the main proponents and campaigners for new Stones material, not the outcome I would have ever expected from him. If you're out there Ian, would be interesting to hear your reasoning for the dislike as your musical e

QuoteDandelionPowderman Quotejlowe QuoteDandelionPowderman I will (it's too late to stop it now), but I probably don't have common sense The Entertainment industry will already be looking at Christmas and planning releases on an assumption that the worst of the crisis will be over. And the public may then be very receptive to making purchases. It's a business, after all. A

Quotegeorgelicks Mick's in Mustique, Keith in his home in CT and both Ronnie and Charlie in London. The album is the latest thing in their minds right now, I can't see a band of 70+ something near a studio for a long time. ___________________________________________ We don't know what is on their minds right now? They could have studio time tentatively booked in a month

QuoteHairball Sounds great Ian, but I think Mick is still writing songs and hasn't decided which ones will fit on a Stones album. In addition to that, Keith is keeping busy rejecting Mick's songs, and Universal is still calling everything uneven. Meanwhile, Ronnie aka "the puzzle", and Charlie aka "the new album?" are getting restless and bored.... Then there

Since the tour is postponed.... Perhaps they will get some work done in the studio? One may say it's risky .. but our studio will continue to record and I assume most will on a downgraded / less constant schedule. In our studio some nights there is only one person me and an engineer .. others there are six or seven of us which includes six musicians. Perhaps they could try a few wee

QuoteRocky Dijon A lamentable expression that should never have entered the vernacular. As for the new album news, if you think "Tell the Truth" isn't a real song or the bluesy one with the harmonica solo, go right ahead. I'm sure some of it is wrong. They've been tinkering with new tracks for nearly a decade now in some fashion. They've been semi-serious about it be

I'm sure Mick and Keith told Charlie they are still working on it, asked if he wanted to hear it or perhaps played it for him etc at the meetings as time went on.
