I was in the 16th row I believe. The sound was great and Keith was in great spirits. I believe it was being filmed for Japanese TV...I was thrilled when it became available. Forum: Tell Me
No Warren Zevon again...what a crock of shit.
Of the nominees, The Cars and Cheap Trick the my personal faves.
My guess is Deep Purple and Steve Miller are locks, even though I don't care much for either. Forum: Tell Me

As far as the other comment, Beatles CD's do cost more. But IMO they are well worth it due to the phenomenol remastering job they did before the last release a few years ago.
If the Stones material was mastered this well, I would be willing to pay more for them too.
Unfortunately, especially for everything after 1971, it is not. Forum: Tell Me
I never knew they were from Dr. John's band...thanks.
And yes, I've Got My Own Album To Do is an excellent record. Some really nice tunes and just enough help from Mick, Keef, Rod, etc.
I think it is certainly as consistent as any of the Faces records.
Which reminds me...The Faces box set is the best box set ever made. Forum: Tell Me
I was listening to Ronnie's 1st record (which is great BTW) and noticed that the gospel-like background vocals in the song "Act Together" are very similar to the background vox on "Let It Loose".
Does anyone know if it's the same singers?
Cheers All. Forum: Tell Me
Top 5: Velvets, Ramones, Big Star, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Byrds
Honorable Mention: NY Dolls, Stooges, Flaming Lips, J. Geils Band, Cheap Trick, Replacements, Nirvana, Neil Young and Crazy Horse Forum: Tell Me
In 2002, I saw Graham Nash swallow a fly during a CSNY show in Boston. He was about to start one of his "solo" songs when it happened. He was quite calm about it...said something like..."Pardon me...I do believe I have swallowed a fly!!!" He then stepped away from the mic, took a big swig of water, and started singing again.
Priceless!! Forum: Tell Me
I just wish we could get the albums from Sticky Fingers forward on CD, without all the awful compression.
If we could get these redone as well as the Beatles remixes a couple years ago, I would be thrilled.
I am perfectly content with the DSD versions pre-Sticky Fingers. Forum: Tell Me
I have seen the Lips twice, and they are phenomenal. Their music is so progressive, yet almost childlike at times.
Wayne Coyne may be the most interesting person in rock n' roll these days.
For the uninitiated, listen to "Waiting for a Superman" and "Do you Realize?", two of their best. Forum: Tell Me
I am a lifelong Kinks fan and saw them a handful of times.
Unfortunately, I looked up a clip of Dave's recent shows. It appears he is still very affected by his stroke. His singing especially is not good as he can't enunciate very well. I don't know about his guitar playing.
I know he still records though.
They should try to play a few shows before calling it a day. Forum: Tell Me
I was there Friday night and thought the show was excellent. As good as any I have seen (this was #7 for me). I took my 16 year old son and he was beyond amazed.
Highlights? Rambler of course. All Down The Line was outstanding. Memory Motel was also quite good. My son's fave was Tumbling Dice. I thought Keefs work on SFTD was better than usual.
Whip was a trainwreck but fun to Forum: Tell Me
thank you mgshorr...nice review...I'm surprised at all the negativity...23 songs...Emotional Rescue...Factory Girl...Shelter and Rambler...nothing wrong with that. Forum: Tell Me
