I use Cool Edit Pro It will balance the volume on 100's of songs automatically in one session It will measure the voulume of each song and then even them out. Tip - balance accoustioc type music separartely fron noisy band songs - otherwise the accoustics will be too loud,

QuoteDGA35 James Phelge. Do you recall the first Stones gig you saw? I was at their first gig at the Marquee July 1962 - Where they performed a chaotic electric racket in place of music - but they had attitude. I didn't know them then - and I had just moved out of 10 British Grove where I was born as the 100 year old house was being demolished. Blue & Lonesome was recorded at 20 Bri

As the Stones remembered yet another Brian Jones birthday - after this 50 years stuff should they now be thinking about organizing a Brian Jones Tribute Concert? This would be a nice gesture in remembering the guy who played such a major part in getting the band off the ground Who would you choose to play Guitar on Brian's behalf?? My personal would be Eric Clapton - Brian new him and

I notice that only one of the ads carries the admission price to the club, 4 or 5 shillings - in old English money before it went decimal - That would 20p or 25p in todays money. A new mini-car at the time was about £500. Makes our rent at Edith Grove sound expensive now - £!6 per week or £4 each. The GER phone code -Gerrard- was for the West End area. I came across this article with Kim Fowley recently. It;'s about the 60's - I also stayed at Proby's place a while must have been in 65 sometime. This article covers that period. Lot's of Stones mentions in this you won't have heard of. Like Brian trying to steal Proby's cat, Kim recording with Andrew and antagonizing Mick... I probably know 50 percent of the

QuoteCaptainCorella le to prove it and his postings were, and still are, very much welcomed. There was also a mysterious (probably) lady who called herself 'mudabove' who posted on Undercover. She vigorously asserted that she was a close associate of Mick and would try to prove it by saying things like "Mick will be wearing a pink shirt tomorrow" and then when he did that

Quotenightskyman Well I just might have to purchase that. Always like it when a magazine these days has a cover/focus on Brian Jones (a rarity). They did a several page spread on Brian Jones only last year Can't see that there can be anything new to tell that we don't already know. I did an interview for it Probably a rehash of PaulTrynka's stuff

..and don't forget the money each time a record or track is played on the radio via Performing Rights (PRS) There are also fees from internet stations if they're not pirates Was wactching a proggie on tv a while back - they were saying how lucrative airplay was a close on £70 a spin. I presume that is all stations, as a two tier syten would be unfair.... Then all the merchandise c

Quotemikeeder Hey if you are the real Phelge hello! You would not remember me but back in 1999 or so we were going to do an interview on your book when I was in college for a class I had. I think you moved so it didn't go ahead, but we talked several times. You were staying in Chicago at the time. I think the book is about 400 some pages long, it get's that era OK until the demo the

QuoteHis Majesty Quite a sad tale after they leave Edith Grove and interesting that the distance between Brian and Mick/Keith kinda already began there. The changes following the arrival of ALO are so swift... Brian's personal life already a mess before the drugs came in. Interesting how some friendships end though, Keith and James saying goodbye after a visit to the cinema and then no m

There were no songs written at Edith Grove - or before ALO arrived. It had never occurred to them to 'write songs'.. There was nothing other than the knwon tracks recorded at IPC. This is surely well documented. Phelge

How many pages are there in the Paul Trynka book? Just wondering how much he came up with to write about. The British Blues scene is way over-rated in my view. Weren't that many people playing blues. The audiences was more 'clubbers' than blues enthusiasts - would have gone to the clubs what ever was was on. It more or less ended when the Stones left Richmond Station Hotel an

QuoteNaturalust QuoteHis Majesty Recreating Edith Grove seems nuts, who out of the vistors is going to know whether it's a true representation or not? Unless they have some photos, if so, can't wait to see those! Recreating it without Mr. Phelge's help and input seems even a bit more odd. I hope this indeed drums up support for his book and that he can possibly even sell copies a

A wimpy 5 watts? At Edith Grove Keith would get back from a gig - aqt 1am in the morning - and sometimes plug in a Vox AC30 at full blast This is real STONES STYLE. ))

Maybe there should be a plaque at the top of Edith Grove where we used to wait for the bus to Earls Court station - then catch a train to go to either Ealing or Studio0 %! gigs... Or maybe the Pie Stall.... ))

Quote24FPS ] No love for the Everly Brothers, James? I encountered Phil Everly a couple years back here in Burbank, at a corner café, having lunch with family. I didn't bother him, just made eye contact. My god, I thought, this man (and brother Don) were on the bus with all the 50s greats and toured with the early Beatles and Stones. I pretty well have all the needed singles - and some

There is no real difference between the two copies. A few words were changed for Nankering to ma

Thanks to everyone for commenting on my book in the thread here:- To avoid confusion over the versions I have made this new thread so that things may be clear. Rolling Stones history is beginning to get littered with dubious stories - myths - altered facts and publicity generated history. Some lies there as well I expect.. In the case of my book - Phelge's Stones is the OR

Following The Off The Hook thread here - A potted version of my thoughts are: The original Rolling Stones band only played together for 15 weeks - from late January '63 until the first week in May '63. Bill Wyman was the last to join the line-up in late January to play along side Mick Jagger, Charlie Watts, Ian Stewart, Brian Jones and Keith Richards. This was the band that too

- when a guy I knew at primary school 7-11 yrs y'know - That's the way Keith would speak, except it is written incorrectly - which alters the meaning or the logic. It shold be:- "when a guy I knew at primary school, 7-11 yrs..., Y'know?" There are very few Celeb books that are written by the actual Celeb. Most are just dictated and someone has just copied a trans
