Sad to hear. Bobby was a teen idol and actor that was a household name from 1968 through the mid 70's. Sounded like a solid good person. Interesting musical note. He put out a Christmas LP around 1970. It is really an adventurous record for a not "highly regarded musician" There is even a gospel type song on this LP. A few sound like the burrito brothers. It is not a great LP b

Mildly interesting. Pretty fascinating that the terrain has not really changed. Would be interesting to do a thorough metal detector search of the area.

QuoteGasLightStreet It's both. Under My Thumb was incredible, regardless of what show. Time and Imagination - incredible. Let It Bleed - incredible. Shattered and Neighbours - horrific. Then you have the average - Whip, LSTNT, Tumbling Dice, Start Me Up... pretty good, not great and not bad. Just as with any tour, they had bright spots and lame spots. But some people l

The era of the boots was phenomenal. My first boots were Bedspring Symphony with an orangish paper sleeve and the 73 Nicaraguan Benefit show. I bought these in probably 1975 at Record Head in Milwaukee, WI. It literally changed my life. At one point in the late 80's I had over 300 boots on vinyl. It was said that I had the largest collection in the Midwest at that time.

I have always believe that Altamont was actually a triumphant moment for the Stones. Many if not all acts would have noped out of that situation. (The wimps of today would never have been able to pull it off). Then to actually perform new music, perform at a high level while literally being threatened on your own stage. It was an amazing feat. I think the Stones should hold their head high o

I believe one can actually see and feel the intensity and foreboding as that tour drove to the Altamont climax and the clearly spent end in Miami. When I became a Stones fan in the late 70's I really concentrated on reading everything about the 69 tour, listening to every available boot, the Maysles Brothers film, other film clips. It is pretty clear there was something almost otherwo

QuoteRSbestbandever Steppenwolf most definitely needs to be in. Period. Their catalog is full of songs that while not the popularity of the two mega hits still had a solid influence on listeners and fans of the band. Of course, that's just my opinion but they certainly need to be in the RR Hall Of Fame. Steppenwolf is a very curious case. They check all the imaginary boxes, hits, hit albu

Very sad to hear. He was a giant in R&B. How cool was it to have Jerry and Curtis Mayfield in the same group at one time (The Impressions)

I think it fit the phase they were in. Lots of 3 minute rockers and punk out. It was a great tour as they musically in a zone as it went on. A true rock n roll outfit.

Yeah, its an awful performance. One of the few times the boys just couldn't pull it together. I suspect they didn't take it as seriously as they should have. This was the Stones punk phase and they played into the we don't give a shit vibe. About the only Stones footage that I don't want to see again.

Quotejahisnotdead Quotetimmyj3 Preaching to the choir my friend! I also lament no Paul Revere & the Raiders and Herman's Hermits. I credit these two groups with the television era of rock bands. In my opinion if the television era of rock bands mattered to them, the Monkees would be considered, but that's never going to happen. I totally agree on the Monkees being a huge p

What defines a great guitarist? What has Mandel accomplished? What has Wood accomplished? So Mandel can noodle ten minute jams that puts most folks to sleep, again he sounds like a jealous bitter man. Ron Wood has been an integral part of 3 legendary bands plus solo albums and meaningful contributions to other artists. His playing is just fine. Great fit for rock and roll outfit.

Sounds like someone is jealous and envious. I think if HM wants to get in a measuring contest for career achievements he would lose badly.

Grew up in Milwaukee. As a youngster in 1971 hearing Merle Harmon and Bob Uecker on the transistor everyday was a comforting thing during my youth. The early 70's Brewers were awful with a capital A. But, Uecker made it worth your time to tune in. Milwaukee mourns.

SAL is ok. It just never grabbed me. I think I have watched it twice. She was Hot was very enrgetc getting that odd crown going. If I am correct wasnt this a hand picked or paid crowd? Should have been so much better on Scorcese's part. The whole thing felt off. To be honest I am very casual with anythng post 1994 live.

QuoteMathijs Holy grail... MSG 1969 all three shows Roundhouse 1971 both shows Washington/Akron/Charlotte 1972 in the same quality as the Roundhouse official release Winter Tour 1973 in fabulous quality, like the Brussels boot and not the Brussels official release. Knebworth in the same quality as LA 1975 100 Club 1982 in the same quality as Hampton Mathijs In your opinion

For the insiders/experts here. Are there actually any "holy grail" recordings from 1978 and before that could actually be made ready for legitimate sales/sets? It seems like there would have been something by now from legit sources??

Do the Stones have an "official" archivist type person on board? From the outside looking in it appears that no one is driving this plane (see what I did there). Their unreleased live and studio cuts are worth many multi millions if done right. Over time the estates will benefit hugely from a proper archive management and releases.
