Well I guess the obscure to us is different than the obscure to a public radio show. He could go with some versions from the latest boots, which would be obscure or songs like "Too Tough" from undercover,"Hey Negrita", which is very obscure for all not Stones Hard Core Fans, Torn & Frayed a very good choice, Jiving Sister Fanny, Laugh I nearly died from ABB, Hide your Love

I am at a crossroad currently, so visiting inspirational sites. And I have to post this again, reminds me of some time of the final Sopranos episodes and the situation I am feeling I am in and I think it is a great cover version. Good to see that people are actually stealing (that's a reference to the current GEMA discussion in Germany, we can't see 30% of anything, even if posted by

Sorry guys, just as I mentioned, maybe the Sauvignon got me carried away. Still like the complexity and simplicity at the same time (I know, I know...) of HTW. Either it was a moment of an epiphany or this is just a fine version. I agree with Tele, 24FPS that the boot we got is plain great. See my other post regarding this. Anyway. Treaclefingers, hope you downloaded LA Friday, great experien

QuoteJuanTCB Another one from last night, courtesy of Iridum's facebook page. My, oh my - why do we have to get old... Like the pic, however, looks better then here: Still, thank you for the pics and I guess I am afraid of those pics, because they make me realise I am turned rather mature myself slowly...

Stumbled acros this on youtube Wow, I never thought a played to death song like HTW could be this inspiring. Then ADTL and the next stuff. I don't know, maybe I'm posting something that all of you guys know, but this is why I love the guys so much. Jazz. Energy. Still hate the Chuck Berry moments, though. Listen: Maybe this should've been a bootleg

QuoteGazza A total waste of time. And editing it to remove a reference to Arabs in case they may have found offensive 34 years after it was recorded renders its release utterly pointless. Couldnt they have just replaced it with another song if it bothered them THAT much? They may as well have gone the whole hog and edited the Some Girls title track as well and the 'fag' reference in

Would love to read the article - if only I could understand Spanish. The last pics are from a video artist that I have seen in Frankfurt a few weeks ago. Just awesome. I normally am not much into video artists but that one is so tongue in cheek and you have to listen to the audio track it is just amazing. Spent 20 minutes with that one. It is called "the Disciples" from James Mollison

The book itself is a ride of a night with a bottle of whiskey and listening to Stones music. As a movie it doesn't make sense imho. Rockstar movies always lack the drama and complexity of a good story. It's mostly always better as documentary or "rockumentary". I'd rather go with Bill German's book. Have a good writer and turn that into a story with a girl etc. Th

If I remember correctly, that's Ollie Brown on drums and Charlie went back to the percussion set. That's why it is funky all of a sudden.

So finally I am at Sympathy for the Devil. And finally Ollie Brown is a bit higher in the mix. What a great version of the song. Someone has posted the "Vegas Conspiracy" on this song. I think it's just @#$%& great! This version has the percussions as in the original recording and the attempt at the blistering solo, but with far more energy and rawness. Ah, I am happy today. Go

There is no best book(s) (because there are too many ;-) Some favorite books, however, are still there. I would recommend anything of Philip Djian (start with the early stuff) He is pure rock'n'roll Martin Suter "Die dunkle Seite des Mondes" is also a great book. Stuff from Arno Schmidt (only German, can't really be translated, just like Joyce the other way round)

Just down to YCAGWYW and I miss Ollie Brown very much. The whole drumming of Charlie just makes sense when you listen very closely to the percussion in the background especially with the fills. So far the only letdown

QuoteMathijs There's a minor point though -Ollie Brown can hardly be heard. I always loved his bells and whistles, like there's really a party going on on stage. But now only a cowbell once in while can be heard. And we need more cowbell! Mathijs agree 100% with your post on this thread (especially this one). I always thought that this was very special from the 75/76 area. But

Quoteab QuoteKoen So just a little theory. The 18th was also a Friday, and a '3' could be mistaken for a '8'. Someone, somewhere, misread it, thinking it was the 18th, and named it "LA Friday". It was called L.A. Friday Night because the bootleg packaging was lifted from a Rolling Stone article of the same title. Jann Wenner went to the show on the 11th (BTW, my 1
