QuoteDandelionPowderman Ronnie plays drums on Sleep Tonight. Well, what you're hearing obviously emanates from a drum kit. ...'plays'... in this context is restricted to a participatory term.

And one last bit of whimsy: Tumbling Dice with horn stabs after each line of verse after the first chorus would've been awesome.

-Keith and Ronnie are basically Jimmy Johnson and Eddie Hinton. It’s a tad whimsical but one can imagine ‘I’ll Take You There’ with the former duo on guitars rather than the latter, and, either KR or RW capable of the quirky but memorable Hinton guitar solo. -A goodly amount of Keith’s most famous riffs -Tumbling Dice/Monkey Man/Beast Of Burden/Can’t You Hear Me Knocking et al. would be righ

QuoteRedhotcarpet Nah. I like the intro with Billy but Ronnie lacks timing and the skills to pull off a solo unlike Taylor. Ronnie shows off a couple of tricks in this solo but it doesnt help since the solo isnt fluid. Where's the :eye roll: emoji?

Mick, how much longer are you going to allow Trump to use YCAGWYW? ...or has the bloviating pustule of fake tan paid his fair share of abuse? My apologies if this has been covered.

QuoteDandelionPowderman He probably meant that the swing/rockabilly/walking bass/wobble-timed Bill-sound was gone when he left. Yes.And since then it's largely been one big meh for me

I guess I'll never get Lucinda. Songs are boring and made worse by the kleenex she chews on when she sings.

I'm too old to buy a CD. Why bother when I can listen on YT or Spotify? IMO a lot of people feel the same way.

Well, watching him play 'Malageuna' I see where he gets those licks for stuff like 'Rock And A Hard Place'.

Keith, you nailed this. It's all there; juicy hooks, great playing, production, and lyrics. Way to go, baby.

Wouldn't be surprised if -like Raitt-Clapton-Tina Turner - Keith gets a Grammy out of this.

QuoteDandelionPowdermanStar Star, Silver Train and Dancing With Mr. D are too weak to be corner stone rockers on a Stones album, imo. Especially the two latter songs. Star Star immediately suffered from the burden of it's name. Who the hell calls that song that dumbass name in that context at that time? Would've been better off calling it 'Censored' or something equally as s

GHS. To my ears the first of many Stones albums wrecked by the Glimmer's. They made Mick Taylor small and would repeat that mistake on IORR. Would've loved to have heard 'Silver Train' before Mick & Keith got their hands on it. IMO, the song's on GHS are better than the what the master left us with. The DWMD of Brussels really knocks the snot out of the album

QuoteNaturalust Just to be clear, here is a video of Taylor noodling away on CYHMK, Not only is Jagger encouraging his playing (02:17) , both Keith and Ronnie seem to give him high praise and support after the song is done. Started watching at 02:17. Woke up at twenty to four.

QuoteTurner68you're forgetting about the footage captured in the movie "Gimme Shelter" from Altamont where Keith literally has to stop the song and point at MT and say (in the mike, so everyone could hear) "hey man, if that cat doesn't cool it, we're not going to play". although there may be other examples, it's the only one i can recall where they actually

Keith doesn't look happy in that first picture. I think he's worried about Ronnie's reluctance to tour on his own given the latter's attachment to all the accoutrement (s) of a typical Stones tour.

QuoteTurner68amazing coincidence... Across town in Detroit, possibly the very same afternoon, I was in my office at Motown Records when Barry Gordy walked in and said "you won't believe what just happened! stevie wonder called me up and said he ain't going to let me put him in a tuxedo and he's going out to tour with the rolling stones instead!" my jaw dropped. &

QuotestonesruleI remember a Paris afternoon in 1971 when Mick Jagger and I were having a private conversation and he suddenly told me: "Listen, we're gonna tour America in 1972 and 3. WHO shall we get as the opening act?" Without hesitating, I said, "Stevie Wonder, of course!" He lit up. "OH! Do you think he would?" "Of course," I said, &q

QuoteHMSSticky Fingers and Exile (which of course should have been released as a single album) would be equally great without Mick Taylor. On Live-recordings Taylor bores me to death with his flawless but life-less virtuosity. Feel you on both opinion's. re. your last one...I loved his concert rhythm playing and considered him a perfect foil for Keith. For me, what he plays on the Brussels

QuoteNaturalust I get the feeling Ronnie enjoys his painting more than creating new music these days. He's also probably a bit spoiled by the 1st class Stones tours to be trying to do one with less pampering, imo. I get the feeling Ronnie wants to do yoga. You have to admit he's pretty limber to start with. I also get the feeling, Ronnie, after having aquired several legs up on yoga t
