Thanks for sharing this. The shortened Beast of Burden edit is an abomination. However, one edit that actually enhances a song is the edit on live version (from Detroit ‘78) of When the Whip Comes Down on Sucking in the Seventies. It just slices an unfocused part towards the end, if you compare it to the original from Detroit. I’ve always loved that track on SITS.

Quotejohnnythunders QuoteWillInUK Way back I think I half recall a quote that Parachute Woman was written after hearing The Velvet Underground. Jagger claimed that Stray Cat Blues was an emulation of the Velvet Underground... In reference to Stray Cat Blues, I think Mick said he was inspired by the pacing and feel of the song Heroin.

Really, really great. Are all of the guitars that we hear played by Keith? On first pass it sort of seems that way!

QuoteMathijs The entire Brussels Affair (the bootleg with Wembley recordings) is a master workshop in lead guitar, and at spots also in how to incorporate lead guitar in a 'rythm guitar way'…. . . . The only of his playing that I don't like very much is where he is required to play mainly rhythm guitar. I find him annoying on HTW, his rhythm feel for StarF is awkward, hi

I think Bill Wyman once said that the recording of Get Off Of My Cloud on the album ‘Got Live if You Want It’ was from Newcastle. Bonus points if 1) anyone can identify the quote—I want to say consult the David Dalton book from 1981; and 2) anyone can definitively identify the source concert of the recording from the Got Live album of Get Off Of My Cloud. I realize overdubs abounded on that al

A quote I remember at the time was related to how the guitar volumes were much louder for AC/DC’s set. “The Stones need to turn up the volume on their guitars.”

Here’s a question for Mathijs or other guitar gurus. At the tribute show, what is the story on the black Les Paul that Ronnie playing? I don’t recall seeing him playing this particular guitar before, but I might wrong. Any details on it? Also, what is the deal with the cellphone that Johnny Depp has mounted behind the bridge of his telecaster? Is this a trend I’m not aware of? Does it serv

So, to what extent do Mick/Keith actually have control over how their music is used in TV commercials? Is it their decision?

Who determines how Stones songs are used in commercials? Just noticed that the Applebee’s restaurant chain is using Start Me Up in their television commercials. Made me wonder who has ultimate control over making those songs available to businesses that want to use them. I suppose this means who “owns” them. (?). I’m guessing the ABKCO stuff might have different ownership from the newer stu

Quotebv The numbers are my rough estimates of venue capacity BEFORE the shows are being performed. Then later on they are revised into exact sales figures from official sources. If you are not happy with the quality of IORR then feel free to publish a better web site on your own, so that I can retire. That would be great. Well, BV, my post came off far too harsh and tone deaf, and...my apol

Quotekeefriffhard4life not sure what any of this means? if the stones only have 50k tickets available to a concert and they are all sold thats a sell out even if the place is able to hold 25k more people WTF? Check out the link here: Concert Venue Capacities in 2015 This certainly implies that 75K tickets are available for Arrowhead. Right? Can we agree on that? Do you think for one

Well, I do appreciate that the concert tour guide page, as listed on this web page linked below, indicates the venue "capacity, which is a nice stat to have, I guess, presuming one is too tired to check any Wikipedia entry regarding venue capacity. But jezz. What a useless stat IORR shares here, in relation to what we really want to know on this board, which is, how did a particular show S

QuoteMikefromATX Am I crazy, or does the stage look different ? Looks a little narrower, particularly the two side sections. Probably because the stadium itself seems to be a bit narrower than other venues? I'm sure that the stage is somewhat modular to accommodate different venue space arrangements. Other than size I don't see anything radically different...

Quoteflacnvinyl Quotetumblingdice Interesting Drake. So in previous tours did they have more or point them better? I had heard somewhere that they have a great system now. When you have time maybe you can compare them for us? If you want to, of course. I would be glad to. If you examine the main PA system from Bridges to Babylon, for example, they had speakers pointed to the upper deck. The sec

IF this is MSG, that would mean that this version of the stage had the hydraulics that allowed the petals to unfold during the opening of the show. I believe this unfolding stage was only used in NY, LA, and Chicago. (Correct me if I'm wrong on that.) All other shows used a stage that looked virtually the same, but did not unfold at the beginning of the show. Question 1: is there a v

QuoteJMARKO As it turns out, my friend says MSG did/does have red/orange seats. However, he did say it looked like security was a bit more lax than it usually was at MSG. Kind of let down that this mystery may be solved already, and with such a common result. J Oh no no no, not solved, as we're far from done even if this is in fact MSG!! QuoteNoCode0680 Has anybody tried asking the guy who posted it? This Michael Cumella? Yes, I did. His reply was that it was stock footage that he transferred from a client's home films. As he is from NYC, he assumed it was Madison Square Garden, but didn't know for sure. I think there was doubt that this is MSG, right?

Quote5stringTele Somebody should be able to confirm or bust the Greensboro possibility by compairing things like the seats, railings or stairs to their own memories or pictures from the venue. I know it's a long shot, but this is how you identify old photos. Look for details, see if they match anything and build a case. Don't think it's Greensboro. Mick wore rolled up jea

QuoteJMARKO Quote5stringTele There is a guy wearing a tee-shirt that has a Z 96.7 logo on the front at about :50 seconds. If anybody can recognize that or can spot some other logo, it might help determine the city. I don't know if it matters, but I also saw somebody wearing jean overalls with suspenders, plus he was sporting a very red neck haircut. Not your typical Stones fan in 1975. Co
