QuoteHairball I assume he felt it wasn't commercial enough as he was still attempting to make it BIG as a solo star which still didn't work (don't hate on me Mick fans). Yep, that's why he didn't tour to support the album - unlike Richards who toured behind MO album. One appearance on SNL (where he actually performed two WS songs live),one Webster Hall gig, a mo

QuoteDandelionPowderman Quoteproudmary Great album, still listen to it. I remember that this thread never was sticky btw. Interesting to see in retrospect how much shit was poured on Mick for his music and at the same time how much personal insults I received for... what? I really don't know Superheavy is bigger than the both of us, or something yep

QuoteNaturalust Thanks proudmary, interesting article... Two things kind of stand out for me: “Personally,” he says, closing his eyes and pressing his hand to his chest, “I think it’s really quite tedious raking over the past. Mostly, people only do it for the money.” “Mick has a genuine disdain for nostalgia,” Lorne Michaels notes. “He is relentlessly curious, and more than most men o

QuoteNaturalust Proudmary, it's so nice to see you posting here again I really don't want to question your assertions and since I have no real facts it would just be speculation anyway, so I won't even though I want to. thanks NL,it's been a while... as for your words about Mick being conservative, reserved, cynical and not r'n'r there is a perfect answer f

"He talked about the players who actually saved the day and I think if Mick was one of them, he'd have been mentioned". The entire Stones organization - especially legal - has not occurred by magic, someone created it - and it was Mick. The full power of the organization was thrown to KR aid. Bill Carter was there because Mick found him and charmed to work for them. KR'

...I found it interesting that Keith talks about how he got a "we've got to talk" call from Mick when the book was published and basically Keith told Mick he got off easy and showed him all the stuff he had excluded in the editing phase... Yes, it's interesting because in his Times interview(the one he disscused Mick's privates to sell his product) KR said that the

btw Roger Ebert did a great interview with Mick about Enigma where Mick mentioned his movie project with Scorsese - something that has now become Vinyl MICK MOVES INTO MOVIES by Roger Ebert January 26, 2001 PARK CITY, Utah -- Mick Jagger is taller than you'd think, thin as a rail, dressed in clothes that were never new and only briefly fashionable. There is a studious un

QuoteNaturalust Quoteproudmary By the way what do you think about this passage from Keith's RS interview "KR - What happened after Sticky Fingers? Was it Goats Head Soup or something? RS - It was Exile. KR - Of course. I'm getting them mixed up." It was an awfully long time ago. I guess I don't think it's improbable any of them could get mixed up abo

QuoteNaturalust Quoteproudmary How come Joyce Smyth is now just Mick Jagger's lawyer? ..from fixing the backing choir to the ticket prices. She even designed a T-shirt. Likely because she is referred to as "Mick Jaggers lawyer" in NYTimes articles like the following and probably does work with him more that any of the other Stones, probably even on some of his non-Stones

QuoteNaturalust QuoteGasLightStreet Quotekammpberg I don't know why Mick think's it's cute to pretend he doesn't know what songs are on what albums, or what albums followed another album. At least I hope he's pretending. I'm sure Mick runs the show, heavily involved in every aspect of The Stones - so why not act it. "Fans" not in the know would have more

How come Joyce Smyth is now just Mick Jagger's lawyer? I know MJ is mean, cold and mercenary but she does work for Stones. There is an article about her in Times "Joyce Smyth is an unsung member of the Rolling Stones whose legal training is vital to their business If you are a rock fan of a certain age — or even the next generation of fans — it’s the dream job. Quotepaulywaul Quotekahoosier Well not long ago I was able to pull up Section E row 1 seats 7 and 8 Front row Ronnie side) as VIP packages still. So 5 days into various presales you can still get a front row seat at a Rolling Stones show. On the one hand, I find that hard to swallow on a historical basis. On the other hand, I am not at all surprised when the asking price is $1800 a tickert with

QuoteRollingFreak Lol I don't think we're gonna be seeing a 70 year old Keith Richards in jail for 2 to 3 years, or ever. I don't know if people still believe he's the bad boy rebel he was in his youth, but at this point if he's not making it to a Rolling Stones show, its either cause he's in the hospital or he's dead. Keith was really cold about Mick T in his

"Closest one can come is probably reading Life, and having done that, I'd say it's pretty safe branding MJ as cold". That's a sufficient answer to my question - you value words more than actions If the facts and one's perception of reality do not coincide - well, the facts can be neglected

QuoteLoganWaters To show where MJ was/is at re not having Keith onstage on a Stones tour, I offer this quote from engineer Andy Johns, in Robert Greenfield's book Ain't It Time We Said Goodbye: I said to Mick, ‘What’s going to happen?’ And he said, ‘I think Keith’s going down. But it’s all right. I’ve got Jesse Ed Davis with his bags packed in LA. He can be on the next plane.’ Which

Jerry Hall says it will be "very difficult" for Sir Mick Jagger when he returns to the Rolling Stones concert tour that was cut short this year following the death of his partner L'Wren Scott. The Texan model and former wife of Jagger said it was “still tough for him” after fashion designer Scott killed herself in March this year. The band is set to perform a string of concer
