WTF is his problem with the Stones? Calling them a blue cover band on a apprente attempt at lame shade throwing. I knew that mofo was up to somethign when he avauled himself to all sort of interviews of late and that special where he kind of goes thrpugh his song writing process which was certainly cool to see but gimem a fuggin break...you what always breaks with me with him is no matter what

last night.....hope it picks up a little I see the Scorcese excess of late on display...but still have hope...nevertheless the show got me thinking about 1973 and the zeitgeist of the Stones, Led Zeppelin (geez was that Dave Mustaine as Plant??) and the bubbling up of early punk, new york dolls etc....but what also occurred to me was my own impression that this was the zenith of rampant drug usag

Of all things associated with Ronnie's association with the Stones and from everything I can ever gather, discern, and glean from the others....yeah I think he get to legitimately make that claim. Because he was such a fan of the band I believe that he loved the band so much that he inserted himself as the bridge between Mick and Keith and did it well. As much as I prefer the Mick Tayl

...Keith spouting off about "seeing how far they can go..."..seriously he literally said the exact same thing 25 years ago....4 albums and a touring band...that is the Rolling Stones...there is asbolutely nothing wrong with that in the least...and as a touring band they have been damn good most times more than not.... that said....what the hell is left to prove if they are absolutely

Seriously when do you think was the last time Mick and Keith actually had a real go at crafting a Rolling Stones album with the two principals of the Band writing together...I know that during Bigger Bang there was certainly some collaboration when Keith stayed at Mick's and Charlie was still dealing with his cancer....but when was the last time they gave a flying @#$%& about putting out som

I listened to Bill on SMU on the clip above........the Band still misses him....just that little bit of funky runs and real roll the swing of the band has not recaptured imo..they were a locked in unit....warts and all.

or maybe Mick just told him they were putting Can You Hear the Music on GHS instead of Criss Cross Man

I wonder what the thought process was about including some of the more 'adventurous' tracks like Can You Hear the Music versus Through the Lonely Nights, or Criss Cross Man for Hide Your Love....anyone have any particular insight into that?

Yes I forgot "Through the Lonely Nights" which I find an incredible tune

when viewed in the reality of the Rolling Stones putting together 4 of the greatest albums in Rock and Roll together, touring the world and simultaneously re-writing the standards of both music and performance as they went. They had not just scaled the peak, they were adding on to it as they went. So in a sense there was nowhere higher (at least) to go. I remember getting GHS and feeling a

My gawd how lucid and together Keith was...no bullshit laying it out as it was at the time....he must have had an amazing constitution to be out of for parts of Sticky Fingers and there on the road and laying it down....I love this Keith and this Stones..brilliant

in other words not simply the junior partner in the band but honest to gawd - stare down pissed at Jagger enough to tell him to fugg right off? '85 sessions for Dirty Work maybe?? Other times? Or he always been the 'little brother' and his words fallen on deaf ears?

Fuggin' Bill Wyman was the boss on this song and tour.....I like Darryl but if there is any doubt what Bill was to the Stones....it's all right there...they have never "rolled" as well as when Bill was there.

I often wonder if the Stones were sub-conciously getting guys like Graham, Nicky, Ry Cooder, Dave Mason, now Bobby Whitlock even...to inspire them if they were lacking at that particular moment; OR if it was much more of the others being in the presence of greatness and mystique with the Stones at that time and trying to leave something behind as part of those sessions and then much much later cr

Quotesonomastone how would you want them to play them? for example, i'm sick to death of jumping jack flash, but i'd love to see it played with the original intro, the bass turned up (with daryl trying to follow keith's original playing), no guitar solo, and ronnie not playing that one lick over and over again. and i'd love them to further embrace otis redding's ve

Ok I know absolutely nothing about the circumstances, logisitics, etc of why Keith was not there. But I don't think I am going out on a limb here that Keith not showing is pure bullshit on his part. I don't care what the current state of the band relations are at this point - his partner and the guy that has recently done more to fill Keith's pockets had a birthday party 1 flippi

history actually becomes more interesting to me. She has remained largely silent since here divorce - with very very occasional forays into her past life. I think she did not really cooperate with the Exile re-lease and the film as I recall - mostly because she did not really care to look back at that part of her life. Does anyone know when the last time attended a Stones' show. I kno

QuoteGasLightStreet QuoteBig Al There was a rumour that Jimmy Page is responsible for the solo, no? I've read that as well but all things point to Taylor, not Page, playing that. That's more Taylor's style anyway, that fluidity. Page wasn't that fluid. That HAS to be Mick Taylor - and you really tell its from the GHS sessions....it is a great song - it is absolutely amazin

Maybe they should revisit the old concept of an EP...4-5 songs...they were a monster singles band at one point...there is practically no way I could see the discipline and the muse being there for a full album at this point but a 4-5 EP effort giving it "One Last Shot" as a functioning unit...hell they could put out the songs with full credit being given to the collective Rolling Stones

Quoteandrewm I got Paul to sign my ticket stub after their show in Vancouver, 7/4/87. He signed it "Paul Homely". I always felt his solo stuff got kind of short shrift, especially Eventually, which I really love. The consensus from the critics seems to be that he's a shadow of his former self as a songwriter. I don't agree. Also, after watching the Color Me Obsessed doc. I
