QuoteWhale Quoteironbelly QuoteGeorges The sound of the Licked Live in NYC (DVD + 2CD) is very disappointing. It is inacceptable. Bass is almost inaudible. High notes strain ears. It tires out. QuoteVoodooLounge13 So are you saying that SACD is the same as DSD? Super Audio Compact Disc (SACD) is an optical disc that allows storage and playback of high-resolution digital audio. High-resolution digital audio is stored on SACDs in Direct Stream Digital (DSD) format.

Quote24FPS Sticky Fingers through Flashpoint are available as flat transfers on SHM CDs. Original post was about pure digital product. Namely - about DSD files for playback. Not about physical products. SHM CDs you are talking about will give you usual redbook 16 bit / 44.1 kHz files. Super hard material (SHM) will not provide hi-res playback. It is just a special type of polycarbonate. S

The 2016 Mono-Box, TSMR, LIB & BB in DSD could be purchased in North America at AcousticSounds.com, but they have no Download-Store anymore since the end of 2020. Quoterbk Jumping in late on this one. Is there a valid, historical reason for issuing this show? The Stones don’t get much more generic than they did at this point in their history. Guess it was the simplest way to fulfill their contract obligations.

Quoteglimmertwin1 @justin Can you please post the DR date? I have El Mocambo which is decent. But this release sounds odd. I think I skip. The YT upload sounds really bad and way to loud. It is not about DR numbers here. Both El Mocambo and NYC share the same pattern. Kind of. They both clipped up to -0.02dB. El Mocambo has DR 7-10 with average 8. NYC has DR 6-9 with average 7. It is n

QuoteUrbanSteel About Licked Live In NYC, in my opinion it sounds good, I'm listening to it now on spotify and it sounds good to me. Sam did a good job here. I would say it average at best. What bothers me is that wide separation causes tons of funny artifacts. The most obvious is that right channel (the one with Keith's guitar) is much brighter than the left one (with Ronnie'

QuoteTheBlockbuster QuoteEasterMan Listening to this right now on Spotify. Not as good as the Four Flicks mix, but still a great show worth revisiting! Just listened to Brown Sugar, it's sounds completely overloaded and distorted compared to Live Licks. I don't know what they're are doing with these reissues but the sound is horrible. It is typical 'modern days' product

QuoteRoss Ok, usually Amazon will deliver a product on the day that it’s released. Licked Live in NYC is supposed to be released Friday, right? My order status now says it will be delivered Tuesday. WTF? I was looking forward to spending the weekend with it! I even cancelled and re-ordered and got the same thing. Anybody else get this? In my case amazon says = Delivery by June 20. The only way

QuoteWhale Just ordered this from my local record shop so that it is available when I go there. It's only available from June 10th. How is it that everyone here has already heard it? Because it was a part of Four Flicks back in 2003.

Quotetreaclefingers Interesting, yes that is odd. I wonder what's up? *** And the interesting thing is there every only is one item for sale, the 3 LP HONK as every other album is sold out and has been from within 5 or so minutes of being on sale, with the possible exception of the Copacabana splatter vinyl which took a bit of time to sell out - guessing the price was a big factor. Looks like an official release. Anyway, good find! Question: is the setlist and recording date on the vinyl the same as this one (Live at the Tokyo Dome): No. From The Vault Extra is February 24, 1990. Live At T

Quotetreaclefingers QuoteVoodooLounge13 Quotetreaclefingers QuoteVoodooLounge13 Are there improvements on their 70’s catalog? I was under the impression that the 71-81 studio albums were best in the miniature LP versions that were done in the late 90’s. Is that no longer the case? You mean the Virgin pressings? I think that was more '93. I do. OK well I was unaware of their existence

My copy has a white label promo sticker, but I still reckon it's a bootleg. I'd be delighted to be wrong, though, because then I'd have something rare. It's rare in

Quote24FPS Thanks for the graph. I'll use it for further purchases whenever one comes up at a decent price. I do have the Steel Wheels UICY-20202, and it's not impressive. No wonder. That one is based on 2009 Marcussen's remaster. This is the case nothing can help and SHM is pure 'cash in' on audiophiles. With Steel Wheels you can safely stick to old CBS or Virgin CD. Ac

Here is the list of CDs with catalog numbers that were prepared as flat transfer from UK original master tapes. These are arguably the best sounding versions. Although, Some Girls, Steel Wheels and Flashpoint got some criticism. UICY-40011 mentioned by Rockman came in the fanciest package of them all. But SHM-CD platinum can have some playback problems with older CD players due to low refl

Quotemnewman505 Have you guys been following the discussion on the Steve Hoffman forums? Every single new release all they do is complain about compression and reverb. I’m not even saying I disagree completely but it’s just so tiresome and repetitive. Not more tiresome and repetitive than 'photo of Bill is missing from booklet' .

Quotegeorgelicks Live At The El Mocambo moved 2,053 copies during the first 3 days (including pre-orders) and only 530 copies the rest of the week. This does not surprise me at all. They did not make promo effort. For example in my woods, in Portugal. Basing on local retailer FNAC: - it was not advertised at all - there was no pre-sale offer on FNAC site - there were only a few CD copies

QuoteStonedRambler Then again, if someone is worried about laser reading errors and jitter, why not stream the high-res files on their Hifi. Then the only component that matters is the DAC. I used to be audiophile but the more you get into it the more you lose yourself in it. There will always be another chase and another possible factor to improve. In the end I focused more and more on tech

Quotelegin Bought the album...Best Stones release since the original Tattoo You IMO..Wonderful stuff!...(brickwalled sound?..er..definately NOT). Technically, it is more compressed than old CBS CD or 2011 flat transfer that was issued in Japan on SHM-SACD and SHM-CD. Those have DR=12-14 for El Mocambo side. This release only DR=8. But generally speaking, the overall sound is less squashed and way
