Giles Martin working with Goats Head Soup was fantastic, this new version of Tattoo You is not in the same class. The new version of Tattoo You, however, brings no improvement on the german pressing from 1981. However, it doesn´t sound any worse, so my first impression. The bonus record sounds totally ok to my ears. I haven´t listened to wembley yet. Ok, i will only be able to make

There´s an hilarious quote from Charlie in the book: "With the bigger stages, the others all just moved further out, but Mick has always done what he does. It was just that the runways and the areas got bigger. But, essentially, it´s the same thing as being on that little stage in the Crawdaddy Club, where he used to wiggle his arse. It´s the same arse wiggling, except sometimes i neve

Yesterday i got the super deluxe edition from my local record dealer. So far i haven´t had time to listen to the records, but at least i´ve looked at everthing. I really like the picture on the box....how is it called...lenticular, wobbly or shaky picture?...you already know, just like the picture on TSMR. The Gatefold Cover for Tattoo You and the Cover for "Lost & Found: Rariti

Quotemailexile67 How many versions are there?!Deluxe edition is only with vinyls, no CD's?!? I wouldn’t call it deluxe edition, they say it´s a 4 LP Set.... No CDs and, what really hurts, no booklet With last years „Abbey Road“ - Edition it was the same...äh....annoyance.

Quotejbwelda "sounds fantastic" is completely subjective and easily dismissed as anecdotal evidence. Dynamic range measurements do not lie. Thats what I was interested in, objective measurements and an analysis thereof. thanks jb I really don’t like to have an dispute here. In my opinion the DR is an important hint, if an record is sounding good. There are many King Tubby and

Quotejbwelda So would it be fair to say that DR-wise, it sucks? All three, the original release, the bonus tracks, and the Brussels recording? And by "original download", you mean the original download when the official Brussels was first offered? And that came in 9s and 10s, with one 11, on Angie, which makes sense because it goes from very soft sounds to Jagger nearly screaming into t

QuoteJordyLicks96 The new mix of Goats Head Soup, while taking away it's original murkiness at times, provides a much more clear listening experience in accordance to the lead vocals and instruments. I noticed a lot less reverb in the 2020 mix as well. The bonus material is a real treat. While we already know about 'Scarlet' and 'Criss Cross', 'All The Rage' is

And for sure I do not want to hear some screams that were hidden in the old mix . BTW, the beginning of Coming Down Again is very strange. Bass on the same level as other instruments and then you got extremely loud PUSHSHSHSFFFF from Charlie. Not natural at all. Or at be

QuoteDandelionPowderman I'm pretty sure this mix will be awesome on vinyl. Yes it is Todays CDs or other digital formats are very frequently so brickwalled, that it is no fun for me listening to those crappy mastered music. One or two songs...ok, but the whole CD/Download in one piece...nope. Back in the days, i guess in 2018, a good friend of mine was at my home for our regularly

Quotepeoplewitheyes Alright, sounds like finally the Stones have gotten a reissue/box set almost right (and, rather ironically, on the understated Goat's Head Soup) - the instrumentals of Heartbreaker and (particularly) Dancin With Mr D sound fabulous. This is the kind of thing the Beach Boys, The Who and others have been doing for decades with their reisssues. Finally the Stones seemed

Quoteironbelly Support your local record stores As expected. Vocals upfront, bass and drums a bit up (not that much as for that other, lesser known beat band from England). Clearly, Giles Martin approach. But in Coming Down Again that 'PUSHHHSHHHSHH' is definitively not in place. As usual these days, DR6 average over CD1 with Star, Star at DR5. This is strange, because CDs were

I haven´t listen to the records yet, so i can´t say anything about the sound quality. The package and all four records, i´m talking about the 4 LP Set, are looking great. There is no hint that Giles Martin was involved in the Brussels Affair. Stephen Marcussen is listed as Mastering Engineer. A big advantage of discogs is, that (almost) every record is in their database. It‘s very easy/fast to add a record to your collection, especially if there’s a barcode on the cover. I use the discogs app and the camera of my mobile phone.
