Now this is why I come on IORR, a brilliant insight Schillid, you landed lucky that day. One of the best Stones videos and you were right there at it's conception but to be handed a leopard pattened joint from Keith is the business. What a memory and so cool to have got the photos and have shook hands with keith. That has been one of my bucket list things to do and I got very near to doing

Yes, I;ve read the wiki stuff which explains clearly why they chose it for the Zeppelin cover...it doesn;t explain why the Stones chose to film at that particular exact spot!

Great photos ! and a partial explanation, but still I'm wondering out of all of New York it still seems strange that the Stones and Zeppelin chose that building...seemingly without relevance to each other. Obviously the Zeppeling cover came first, so when the Stones decided they wanted to shoot a video for WOAF who made the decision to pick that street and why and surely it must have been

Just out of interest, does anyone know the connection -if indeed there is one, as to why the Stones chose that very building/stairs to film WOAF. It has to be more than coincidental, there are millions of buildings not unsimilar around New York and it seems strange that they would opt for exactly the same one as Zeppelin. It's something which has always puzzled me and I have never found an

Deeply saddened at this news. But 80 is a fine old age, and Charlie has done more than the majority of people will ever do and lived his best life. Really feel for the rest of the band and of course his family. He was one of rock's great characters and it will be a strange world without Charlie Watts being out there somewhere. Charlie's good tonight innhie ! RIP Charlie x

Glastonbury...so if it was the last time, it couldn't have been more fitting as I've been going to Glasto since 1979 and watching the Stones live since Les Abattoirs. Compared to many on here I haven't seen them that many times, I had a count through and it only adds up to around 15 gigs but some of them were classics. I also had the pleasure of seeing the New Barbarians

$1000 Wedding had a similar effect on me...that Grievous Angel album is just breathtaking...beautiful songs sung from the heart.

QuoteHairball As the dust is beginning to settle, I'm still loving this track, and at this pont it would be impossible and wishy washy to all of the sudden say it's lost it's charm, or has no staying power, or it's not as good as I initially thought. It's been ingrained in my brain and it's a keeper no doubt, and I'm sort of surprised with myself for not having

QuoteStoneage I don't get the adulation for this track. To me it's pretty bland. Nothing to write home about. It's like any track they have written since Undercover. I don't see the greatness of it. But it looks like I'm the only one not joining the chorus of praise... You are not the only one Stoneage...I've played it dozens of times since its release and it stil

Got quite excited at the prospect of something new...sadly having heard it a few times, I'm decidedly uninspired. I wanted to like it, I really did, but it sounds like so many of those dull filler songs from many recordings through the years from Dirty work on. I'm probably not the best person to review new Stones material since I don't rate much since Tattoo You. Many

It's an awful thing to have to experience...my old Lab is 11 now and although still in good shape, I know the end is coming and the thought is unbearable....they always say to give yourself a few months to grieve and remember, and then get another!

I'm 57...started attending concerts when I was around 13 which was mid 70s....sound systems were temperamental and losing the sound from a stack or Pa was common place, especially at outdoor gigs and festivals. My earliest experience of seriously loud concerts was Hawkwind and Motorhead....then I saw AC/DC and that took it to another level and I'm not exaggerating when I say I had ring

There is no way on this Earth that Keith is making a mistake on the opening chord of SMU...as someone who often plays this on guitar, it is one of the easiest riffs to play...Happy is far harder (still easy in guitar playing terms). He clearly does it to annoy someone, most likely Mick. Maybe we should all ask the question on the next keith questions on his web site.

QuoteThe Sicilian Quotecrumbling_mice You are all most welcome....we're a funny bunch us English, but after reading all those lists above, I am reminded of our influences in all matters. Did anyone mention tea? They couldn't re-create that kind of vibe again....it was of its time, drug and booze fuelled, with an attitude thrown in by young enthusiastic musicians at the peak of their game. Then the set ups with the sound etc, again was of its time and they'd find it hard to replicate with modern digital equipment.

Hope you all have a great show...I'm sure you will. My wife's home town and where that half of our family live, but we are unable to travel back for this which is a shame. Been to many football games in the Ricoh and for those who are up in the stands, you will still have a good view and the sound will be fine.

The perspective on that photo is a little skewed...if you look tot he right hand side on one of the photos you can see...the seats used for the coaches and players...this is at the half way line in a football stadium and the catwalk finishes about level with that, so essentially half the pitch will be for standing. Still a smaller pitch in general, but Coventry is also not one of the larger pitc

Wow boys that was a great rendition of GS...Mathis that was some slick playing and it's as good a cover as I've heard (I've heard a lot over the years) Not sure the sax worked but she was having fun and it's a brave attempt. Wish I could have been there. Well done to all.

Quotekeithsman Keith said yesterday he is nervous of playing London as he thinks they are the most critical audience, this bodes well for tonight, bet Keith has sharpened his act in preparation for tonight. I wonder how many venues and gigs they've played in London since the first conception of the band....they own the city and this is where they should be musically, spiritually and physic

It would sellout every night especially if it was the real end. Great to see a packed house, on a sunny evening in London town....it will be a great show. Just wish they'd made the tickets cheaper across the board. Excited to hear how they do with
