I'm from the UK and grew up listening to this album, therefore it is the best compilation of the early material because it brings back great memories. I'm sure people from USA who grew up listening to Hot Rocks prefer that compilation. I bought a turntable a few months back and one of the first albums I re-bought was Rolled Gold. It was such a good feeling having that record in my h

Saw him at Rock City in Nottingham - quite a small venue and it was great. He played most of the messenger, a great version of I Fought The Law and a good selection of Smiths tracks including of course How Soon Is Now. He looked like he was having a great time on stage. You'll enjoy the show.

I would say all his pre 1976 albums are essential except for maybe his 1st solo effort (Neil Young) which is good but suffers from being followed by a string of classic albums. I would include in that list his first live album "Time Fades Away" from 1973. This is currently unavailable on CD but good transfers from record do exist if you look hard enough (unfortunately their a number of

How about Rambling On My Mind played live by Eric Clapton. He supposedly shouted out to the band to change key mid song to keep them on their toes (but I reckon it might have been rehearsed). Crossroads 2 has a couple of versions of this on disc 1

I had a couple of the later ELO albums on vinyl (Out Of The Blue & Discovery) when I was young (seems like a long time ago now !) and I was keen to get some more of the early material. I took the plunge and bought "The Classic Album Collection" - 11 CD's in card sleeves in a big card box. This is the entire studio output except for Xanadu. All of these are the remastered versio

Quotewolfpet Hi Carsten I am not decided yet if I should buy the Super Deluxe Box - my question is: Is it possible to take out the included 5 CDs for the regular CD shelf? I mean, do they have a jewel box or something similar or do I have to store them inside this huge box (which for sure does not fit in my CD shelf :-)). Many thanks for a short reply. Best Wolfram The book is massive

Don't know if the Roger Waters is in circulation but you reminded me of listening to the radio when I was a teenager. Friday nights was always "The Friday Rock Show" with Tommy Vance (TV on the radio was his catchphrase). Had a great voice for a rock show and boy was I disappointed when I saw him hosting Top Of The Pops, looked nothing like I imagined. I remember him doing 2 hou

I've noticed some strange pricing on Amazon UK recently. I used to pre-order a lot of items and ended up paying much less than the eventual released price. Recently though a lot of pre releases have had very high prices and these have fallen quite quickly nearer to release time. Last week I pre-ordered the Blue Oyster Cult 17 disc box set on Amazon UK. Amazon US had it listed at about

QuoteMunichhilton QuoteStonesTod i think the official dividing line for those with exceptional auricular talent is 256kbs Yup. If you have a definite 256 or higher, even some 192s you're really not gonna know a difference. Its the Blogs that you d/l from claiming 320 that are obviously not that I avoid by distilling my own. Just like making a tape from an LP rather than making a tape

QuoteKSIE I always thought LPs were too long; One side (or maybe an EP?) is the max I want to listen to ANYONE. Back when I had vinyl I rarely flipped an album over - I tended to play a side and then move onto another that I was in the mood to listen to.

I was invited to see Queen at the Royal Albert Hall in a private box in 1982 Unfortunately they cancelled the concert as the roof would not take the weight of the lighting rig. Never got round to seeing them

I used to have an album with a "this sticker is removable" sticker printed on the cover !! - but I cannot remember which album. Somebody here must have better memory than me. Don't ask my advice how to get them off as I ruined many a album cover trying to get all the crappy stickers off. I'm sure someone in the record pressing plant was having a laugh and superglueing them on

I recall having a favourite side for many of my old LP's. When you finally came to flip them over and play them they often sounded horrible as years of dirt had accumulated in the grooves and not been scrapped out by the stylus. Some LP's had definite themes for the different sides. Side 2 of Tattoo You was a regular for early hours of the morning when everyone was a little mellower,

Got back from the concert about 45 minutes ago - great show Picked up two £90 tickets outside for £70 each & got a parking space about 100 yards from the stadium (I work near there and know a few of the side roads) The guitars were nice and loud and the sound pretty good altough there was some echo when Mick was talking between songs. No great surprises in the set list apart from the
