Hey STG, I realized I missed The Pikes after I posted! Kiss Me You Fool is an awesome song, with both John Sebastian and Garth Hudson playing on it. I think my favourite Pikes song is Twister off the album Neptune. I remember when it came out CFOX in Vancouver used to play it regularly.

QuoteTKinOH I visit both daily, even now with the passing of King Edward in October... Still disappointed I never got to take my daughters, now 18 and 19, to see The Mighty... In 2015 I got them to The Horseshoe in Columbus to see The Stones, their first concert. I saw VH in Indy and Charlotte later that summer, but thought I had at least another go-round to let my girls witness Eddie do

QuoteIrix Quotedmay Makes you wonder if the Stones are ready to cash in and for how much. Why should they sell their music publishing rights? Looks like they have a good deal about their music / audio-visual / archive / merchandise / brand with Universal Music. And didn't Paul McCartney regret that he sold the Lennon/McCartney song rights to ATV in the early 1970s ? I guess when y

Check out the Busking in Belfast thread with the band Dea Matrona doing a cover of Oh Well! I've definitely become a huge fan of this band, awesome cover tunes as well as some great original tunes. The girls are only 21, 20 and 17. Their cover of You're So Vain might be better than the original!

QuoteTKinOH QuoteShawn20 I always feel very fortunate when the Van Halen / Rolling Stones stories circulate. I was at both tours the mighty Van Halen opened for our band - 78 in New Orleans and 81 in Orlando - (1st show.) Make sure you check the Van Halen News Desk, there's some great stuff on there about the Orlando shows... I'm sure you're well aware! Lucky you were at b

Quotejbwelda >Part of Mike Anthony's bass solo is throwing the bass on the ground. What musicianship! I guess if you cannot play it, might as well throw it. Exactly why I stopped caring about most of this "music" so many revere. jb Guess you must hate The Who since Moon used to trash his drums and Townshend would smash his guitar! Same as Ritchie Blackmore smash

QuoteNikkei The bit about the sand paint job on the 1981 stage does make sense but I didn't really understand what they were actually doing throwing the bass around and jumping on a mat. How is a drum riser 15 feet high? Part of Mike Anthony's bass solo is throwing the bass on the ground. The pic on the back of Diver Down shows this. As far as the drum riser, it's not that high

I read the interview a couple days ago, great stories. Another little mistake was calling the Rodgers/Page band The Law, when it's The Firm! Of course, most know that the back cover of VH Diver Down is from the Tangerine Bowl show. I've mentioned before you don't see many opening bands take a final bow and the crowd all cheering with their fists in the air!

QuoteBig Al I should mention that when I mention ‘leaked’, I’m referring to the audio; not the video! It’s just that I’ve never known an audience-shot video to be in stereo before; unless someone’s clever-enough to mix it themselves? Actually I'm surprised at the sound quality that cell phones can record these days. My Samsung has Dolby Atmos built in.

When I saw McCartney Summer 2019 in Vancouver, I'd read earlier reports of his voice not being too good. I was pleasantly surprised at the concert, it sounded good. Same as The Who in late 2019, the last show I've seen. Daltrey's voice sounded good. Bruce Dickenson from Iron Maiden still sounds good as does Rob Halford from Judas Priest.

Undercover was released in late 1983. Stones European tour 82 was a continuation of the 81 Tattoo You tour of the US as well as the release of Still Life in 82. Wasn't a huge fan of Undercover album, haven't listened to it in ages. Did like She Was Hot.
