Saw them three times between 1991 - 1993. I got into them when I borrowed a CD copy of This Is The Moody Blues from a friend. It’s a great compilation. I like them. RIP John Lodge. A life well lived.

My favourite tracks from the LPs since Steel Wheels are mostly Keith songs. Slipping Away The Worst Thru & Thru Thief in the Night How Can I Stop? You Don’t Have to Mean It The Keith track on HD is OK. And I do play Rolling Stone Blues occasionally. I didn’t care much for Angry or Sweet Sound…. What do the Hackney enthusiasts recommend I pay closer attention to on the LP?

QuoteNashvilleBlues Tier 1: Some Girls, Tattoo You, Goats Head Soup, Black and Blue Tier 2: It’s Only Rock n Roll, Emotional Rescue, Hackney Diamonds, Undercover, Blue and Lonesome Yes. I like this ranking. I would have Bigger Bang in tier 2 and drop Hackney.

I don’t think Some Girls needs to age. It captures a time & place like no other Stones album. To echo an earlier post on here, I don’t care that TY is ‘leftovers’. Those tracks make for one heckuva LP. I love it. I think it’s great that we all love this band and their music so much and yet there are some pretty sharp contrasts in how we rank their LPs.

I don’t believe any of the Stones albums since Tattoo You are playable start to finish the way their earlier releases are. There are substandard tracks on each of them. Having said that, I’m happy the boys kept making LPs because there are also songs that I like quite a bit scattered throughout those releases. Taking Blue & Lonesome out of the equation, A Bigger Bang is my first choice

No hate. I like everything they do. Hackney sounds like an update of Goddess in the Doorway to me. The Keith track and the cover of Rollin Stone Blues I will listen to occasionally.

Happy for Geddy and Alex. They didn’t want to stop after R40, but respected Neil’s wishes to end it then and there. Having said that, I won’t be going. I won’t go see the Stones without Charlie Watts or the Eagles without Glen Frey either. But I expect it will be very good and hope everybody who goes has a great time!

One of my favourite hobbies is perusing Record stores. I do that in every city I visit. This started back in the early 1980s for me on family trips up the QEW to Toronto. The flagship Sam the Record Man store was always the first stop. Followed by Cheapies, A&A records, Music World and in the 1990s HMV & Sunrise. I was recently walking past Dundas square on a visit to Hogtown and

I don’t know much about his band, but he did an excellent turn as a guest DJ on Tom Petty radio. I really enjoyed hearing his insights on TP’s music. RIP

Been listening to Brilliant Adventure this week. Wondering when the final instalment in the series will see the light of day. I recently read that there were more than 30 songs under consideration for The Next Day. I’m guessing there must have been extra material from the Heathen and Reality sessions as well.

I don’t need or want to replace them. Just happy that I was around to see them as many times as I have and to have listened to their incredible canon of recorded music for 40 years and hopefully another 20 or more if I’m lucky.

Went to over 150 concerts between 1989 and 2019. Including 17 Rolling Stones shows and double-digit Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen shows. Was lucky enough to see Richard Thompson, Tom Waits, Neil Young, Jerry Garcia Band, Lou Reed, John Prine and David Bowie as well as many other greats. After the pandemic shutdown, I find there are few artists left on the road that I want to see (Wilco, Ja

Purchased this on cassette in 1988 on my lunch during my Grade 11 year. A cool memory for me, my friends and I were just starting to drive to school, and going to the local record store at lunch was liberating and exhilarating. For me, the versions of JJF and SFTD are my preferred listens. Love the cover shot.

Love Petty. Like Steve Earle & Willie Nelson. Respect for Dolly & Marty Stuart. Don’t know much George Strait, but I do play “Seashores of Old Mexico” now & again. Don’t know some of these other artists. Not a fan of “new” country or the curious hybrid of country/hip hop that I have been hearing in places. Mainstream popular music is noise pollution IMO. /end rant
