How do you put spaces in your username

When I first registered I wanted to put spaces in my username or a _ but I can't do it.How do other members do it and is it to late now and also can you edit your username. cheers

To my knowledge, to change your username, the only way is to re-register with a new one.
Then you lose all your history such as number of posts....some still find it worthwhile.
