Here's a show that has made the rounds in the past but I don't think I've ever seen it uploaded in the past 10 years or so. There are not a lot of concerts played at this venue as Fort Collins is a good hour drive north of Denver, but a bit of history as Elton John joins the boys on stage for most (entire?) show. It's a decent recording but the person recording seemed to turn off the recorder between most of the songs and its also missing the end of the show. If anyone has an upgrade, please share with us all. Sample included.

To me it's the same tape as on VGP-275 only higher-gen and running a bit slower.
And... yes most songs start abruptly, like on the boots we already know.

Audio - Audience The Rolling Stones 1978-07-16 Folsom Field, Boulder CO (16-bit) (FLAC)

This was the third life-changing concert that I attended and the first that I actually have a recording of. The Some Girls LP and tour was just brilliant and the first time I saw the Stones live. I was so impressed with the amount of energy the band displayed and the set list was incredible. The show seemed to be over in a blink of an eye.


The sound quality on this one is ok, nothing special, but is a little choppy and missing the first part of the show.

Here's a fresh transfer of my 1999 Denver master. I bought the tickets around 10th row center but did not record and let someone else do the recording. Unfortunately, I think this show sounds very muddy as it should sound much brighter IMO. This was a setlist for the ages, but I remember being sorely disappointed after the show - I felt like the band was just going through the motions and never had the desire to see the Stones or collect any of their current shows again after seeing this show - but that's just me - sample included

here's another from the you've heard it all before series.
that's not quite what I had in mind when sharing these KBFH shows,
but they were broadcasted across the USA
so it figures, there are many recordings of these shows circulating,
just like the Memphis show from the day before this one,
King Biscuit also broadcasted part of the next day's show in Lexington, Ky.
this is also from my master recording over the radio in 1978,
and includes part of the opening act set of Peter Tosh.
neither of these are anywhere near their full sets,
but this is all that was broadcasted on the KBFH in 1978 when they first broadcasted these shows.

some samples are in comments,
and if there is another version of this show on the tracker,
I will add a contrast clause, although this recording of it should be new
since I don't think I've ever posted it anywhere before.

This concert recording has been bootlegged severally, but I don't buy bootleg recordings (except at
rummage sales) and I haven't seen this around, though I am sure all the Stones fans have copies of or
from the Phoenix Label bootleg "Rock the Palais". I gave this to a Stones fiend/friend and he told me
it sounds better than his CDR rip of "Rock the Palais" though it is in all likelihood from the same ALD
source.

I was not inside the venue while making this recording, but nearby in a park so the sound quality may
have suffered. I actually made this recording to prove a point to my friend, Paul Tucker, who did not
think it possible to record the ALD transmission from outside a venue -- but I had already about 25
minidisc recordings that proved otherwise. I think he just wanted me to record this Stones show for him
so I did. He brought snacks and treats and we ate at a picnic table in a nearby park while monitoring
the recording. Nobody was screaming in our ears and my friend just could not stop grinning. Nor I, once
he fired the up the spliffdiferous desert.

Late in January, JEMS lost a second founding member, the great Stan Gutoski.
Stan recorded hundreds of shows in and around the Seattle area starting in 1972 and kept taping over five decades.
He was famous for recording shows on a Tandberg full-track mono reel to reel, and his masters of Led Zeppelin,
Bruce Springsteen, The Who, David Bowie, CSNY and Joni Mitchell are some of the best '70s recordings of those artists.

What is less widely known about Stan is that he was equally committed to recording radio broadcasts on his home reel to reel which was a Revox B77.
If any local Seattle station was broadcasting a live concert or carrying a syndicated concert series, Stan fired up the recorder,
sometimes going to sleep with an alarm to wake him up to flip the tape (his job in the postal service required him to report to work very early).
He also set up a timer system to record broadcasts when he couldn't be there to start the deck.

Stan made over 200 radio recordings, some on 10" reels that are packed with music and interviews.
Those reels were sitting idle in the JEMS Archive for years until our friends at KRW_CO volunteered to transfer them.
We were only too happy to let a team whose work we admire take possession of the radio reels and bring Stan's tireless late-night efforts into the digital age.

A couple weirdnesses about the Rupp Arena 1978 tape transfer:

*One poster on the Traders den page says the tape runs too fast. This is really noticable on Miss You and Sweet Little 16. Any chance of a speed-reduced version?

*On Miss You, I seem to hear two saxophones onstage. Did that happen at Rupp? I don't remember a sax or saxes on any 1978 Miss You, including Buffalo which I attended. What up there?

There's are 24-bit and 16-bit torrents of the Supergroups in Concert 1981 pre-FM at Traders Den that need speed reduction, and also a remaster for muddy mid-bass on some tracks (see Beast of Burden, among others):

KBFH definitely recorded Tosh in Ft. Worth, so the recordings could be from there.

Please somebody, speed correct and remaster these KBFH recordings.
