I'm having trouble. I am new to FLAC. I downloaded FLAC Front End Program. It looks pretty simple, But I keep getting a RUN TIME ERROR when I go To Decode The Files...Help Please

Thanks,.

If you are only decoding them to MP3 or another lossy format try using Switch Audio Convertor from NCH Software [www.nch.com.au]

It's the best program I could find for all audio format conversions.

Switch also decodes to .wav

Why decode? You can listen to FLAC with lots of players, and FLACs are great to burn them on a CD!
When you start dealing with bootlegs, you download everything in MP3. But then you suddenly find out you're harddrive is big enough (+ burnt CDs or DVDs) and say "Damn, why did I download all this MP3?!".

FLACs are for true rockers and someday you will also collect them (yeah, I can't help myself... good quality, bad quality, listenable, unlistenable, shitty perfomances, legendary perfomances.... you gotta collect 'em all!). smiling smiley

How do you burn Flac to CD?

Re: New To FLAC

1. If for storage then as burn as a data disc for DVD

2. If for playing and you use Nero, install the flac plugin and it will burn the flacs as a playable CD, instead of decoding to wav then burning to CD, basically just misses a step out in the process.

3. For decoding flacs try Traders Little Helper (TLH).

4. Easy CD-DA Extractor will convert flacs straight to mp3 without decoding the wav step.

Oh yes, Amused is definately right, you end up backing up your flacs or shn to data DVDs then start collecting ext. hard drives to play them direct. Me, I don't burn CDs anymore, only Video. Foobar or winamp will play your flacs,shn direct.

No you DON'T have to decode to burn. Read breadfan's reply again

If you're working with Windows Vista,run the FLAC Frontend program as the administrator by right clicking on the program shortcut and selecting the "run as administrator" option.

Just a repeat, if you download flac files and want to burn directly to CD by using Nero, this along with others can be found here;

[www.bitburners.com]

of course you can still decode the flac to wav and then burn to CD using traders Little Helper from here;

FLAC Frontend also decodes FLAC to WAV (which is what I use it for). I have never tried to decode to other formats but,it may also give you lossy options.

click on the file on your desktop, right click to get your context menu, select copy.

in explorer go to My Computer, local disk (c):\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\AudioPlugins, right click and select paste. The file should now show in AudioPlugins.

You will also see in the folder a lot of other .dll files.

It´s something I´ve never really thought about. Someone suggested FlacFrontend. So I thought I´ll use that. Then this thread came up. Why decode. What´s the point. Been downloading everything from Dime for nearly two years now. Burnt all in wave. What a pillock. But I´m glad you helped. It´s one of the things I most enjoy about this forum. Isn´t it strange that it took someone (BV) from one of the lowest populated countries in the world, to come up the the world´s best RS site. But I´m glad he did.>grinning smiley<

don't worry about it, same thing happened to megrinning smiley

I'm glad I'm not the only one who uses the word 'pillock', you don't hear it that often any more >grinning smiley<
