Hi DIMEsters,
Back in January 2022 when I uploaded the incomplete 1975-07-09 Los Angeles recording on DIME out of respect I didn’t reveal who the taper was except writing that he was a well- known American Stones collector / taper.
I can now reveal that the taper was the well-known & respected Stones collector Brad Blanck, sadly he passed away in early 2023.
Brads Stones 1975-07-09 Los Angeles (Incomeplete Show) recording is still on DIME [
www.dimeadozen.org]
To celebrate the concerts just passed 50th anniversary last month mjk5510 & myself thought it would be a deadset treat for Stones fans to upload the 1975-07-10 concert, a 2nd generation from Brad' master reel to reels.
I'm of the opinon that his 1975-07-10 recording wasn't widely circulated, however his recording albeit from an unknown higher generation did surface back in 2002 on silver CD's as Vinyl Gangs [VGP 302] “1975 Nervous Breakdown”
that has been heavily EQ'ed, IMHO its sounds somewhat trebly & louder with intermittent strange sounds, causing one to suffer from ear fatigue as one listener quite rightly put it!
It’s also appeared as remastered versions on CD-R's but they were always sourced from the VGP CD's.
IMHO this upgraded version has a more natural feel to it that will make all previous versions of Brad's recording null & void.
Its slightly less quality than Ed F's source recording of the same night with both (Doo Doo Doo Doo) Heartbreaker & Sympathy For The Devil being incomplete however on Brads recording these songs are complete.

Story behind these 1975 recordings.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My long time mate Kim (a fellow Stones fan & collector) met Brad here in Sydney in early 1975 (not late 1975 as I first thought) when he was here in Australia on vacation.
They met at the infamous Sydney record shop “White Light” which blatantly openly sold bootleg LP’s, dead set racks & racks of them.
Kim & Brad struck up a conversation while both were looking at Stones bootleg LP’s, things progressed from there, he told Kim he was going to tape the Stones on the upcoming 1975 USA tour,
if the recordings turned out well he would send him copies, Brad also mentioned that he was in contact with another Aussie Stones collector Tim, who at the time we were aware of, he passed many years ago.
Ruby & myself spent many an hour at "White Light", becoming friendly with the owner who was the person that sent selected tracks from our Lou Reed Sydney 25th August 1974 recording to his contacts / suppliers in California,
these songs became the well-known “Blondes Have More Fun” LP becoming one of the first Lou Reed bootlegs.
After Brad returned to Hawaii they kept in contact via phone / snail mail.
Either in late 1975 /early 1976 Brad sent Kim reel to reels from his masters of eleven 1975 shows he’d taped. All the information for each reel was either written on the front of the tape boxes
or inside on a sheet of paper in Brads distinctive hand-writing, he always wrote using capital letters never lower case!

Brad’s recordings aren’t of Mike Millard quality but they've still listenable as well as having historical value.
Some went on to become bootleg LP’s / CD’s (sometimes from higher generations) but not all, for example the incomplete LA 9th July had never circulated that I know of.
In the early 1980’s Kim gave me all of Brad’s reels. Sometime afterwards I borrowed my Dad’s trusty old reel to reel player transferring the New York & LA shows onto cassettes.
When CD-Rs first came on the market these cassettes were transferred to CD-R’s.
The reels have remained with me over the decades, from old digs to new, they’ve survived floods plus a fire & now they’ve now retired in my parent’s basement.
A few years ago when I was last up at my folks I had a squizz at them, nearly 50 years on the boxes have suffered some wear & tear damage, the reels themselve looked to the eye ok, but these days not having
access to a reel to reel player these I can’t say what actual condition the recordings are in.
When visiting Kim sometimes I was present when either Brad rang Kim or vice versa occassionally the phone was passed over to me so I actually got to speak to Brad.
We were aware as time passed that Brad had moved into the bootleg world, he was behind some well known bootleg LP's, he'd often send Kim these LP’s, always two copies one for Kim, the other for me.
As happens in life people move on & their relationship tapered off, Kim did try ringing Brad a few times but the numbers were always disconnected.
Out of the blue in 1989 Brad rang Kim, who told me it was a rather strange phone call made from a public phone box somewhere on Maui because Brad didn’t want his call traced, Kim said he sounded somewhat paranoid
with Brad informing him he was keeping a very low profile to avoid certain people.
Not long after that telephone call Brad sent Kim 2 cassettes of the Stones 1989 Los Angeles show he’d taped, which I also now have. Kim never heard from Brad again.
The audience for this the 2nd Los Angeles show sound to be more energized than on other nights as you will hear as the show unfurls, Brad can be heard briefly a few times on his recording, after Midnight Rambler
ends he gives a shout out to Aussie Stones fan’s / collectors Tim & Kim. His mate who accompanied him to the concert can be heard after Gimme Shelter calling him Brad, they also talk briefly after Jumping Jack Flash
finished before the encore.
This recording is frequently marred by a persistent female in Brads vicinity (thankfully she’s not next to him) who insists on screaming on & off thoughout the concert, unfortunately I met her far worse
Australian equivalent while helping friends record the Stones Melbourne Australia 28th March 1995 gig. This early 20’s Aussie sheila was two arm lengths in front of us producing screams like she was repeatedly
being kicked by Mr Ed & Francis The Talking Mule! Sadly, this screaming dead set cow can be heard “performing” on the recording that became the Japanese 2CD entitled “Voodoo Raindance” on the Red-Hot label.
Thanks Brad for all the recordings / bootleg LP's you so kindly gave to us, to Kim for giving me Brad's reels & a big thank you to mjk5510 for his gentle remastering.
Enjoy,
Waz
