Rolling Stones (Debut Master Transfer) Live at Rosemont Horizon IL USA * Nov 24th 1981 * 24b/192K ** POSTED BY ANALOG **

A Covid-19 quarantine release! smiling smiley
Hot Off The Heads Production! smiling smiley Just archived May 16th 2020 yeah!!

Mics: Sony ECM-33F (9V round battery)
Recorder: 1981 TCD-5M Sony Cassette Pro Portable
Location: 2nd row sec 102 (half way back 2 seats elevated left side)
Cassettes: Fuji Metal Bias C90: Dolby on but left off for this playback
Playback: Sony TCD-5M unit calibrated to this era (not same identical unit). Tape speed and head alignment
Chord Company Interconnect Cable (Naim Co.)
Run through the Naim Audio NAC-52 preamp to the Sound Devices-722 @ 24b/192kHz
Sound Forge just to track. NO OTHER BULLSHIT!

I remember all of this event and before. The radio announces that the Rolling Stones are going on sale. OK, when?? It is going on sale in one hour. Talk about dropping everything and rushing to Flip Side records (Ticketron). I was like 10th in line and ended up not where I would have liked. The demand for this show was through the roof. I failed at getting scalpers seats which I always succeeded. This was the days when this arena really needed help on the acoustics. They have really done a lot since to improve the sound. This is one of the WORST sounding ones I ever did. The band sounds weird. Maybe the shit acoustics will do that. This was the same time I purchased that Soundcraftsman Equalizer, the pro Inductive Coil passive version. I tell you guys! It was incredible the difference this EQ did for shows like this. I will never forget pumping my fist in the air after hearing the A/B difference. I never let this recording out without the EQ. I used to write down the settings so the next time it was simple. The very first time took a long time to get it right. Alan Parsons would have been proud. smiling smiley So be aware that this version is raw and boy is it ever!! This one is tough to blast and get good dynamic range on the best system. Who knows though how much I may enjoy hearing it on this AMAZING Uniticore Naim Server. NOTHING sounds better. The shows I have been playing from this archiving......."never heard them sound this good"! Enjoy RB

Understand that all this archiving that is recorded in 24b/192khz is for my own use. It is the best sound! Sharing it in cd format is lossy. If you really enjoy these archives get them at this resolution despite the file size. Down the road you will not be sorry. Is this a nice enough way to say it?

The Washington dates are ok. Both are different sources than the VGP releases "You Got The Silver" (unnumbered) and "Welcome To Washington" (VGP-218).
The new Dime upload of the March 7 show is not a new source because I already have that recording, however I can't remember from where.

Imho :
March 7 : both tapes are similar in quality.
March 8 : the Dime recording is notably better than the hollow sounding VGP-218 title.

I'm kinda confused why I havent done this show (7th) yet for MfG
but now we even have two good audio sources.

The Faces recorded for BBC Radio One at the Paris Theatre in London. Ultimately, this was not transmitted at the time as Rod & others considered the performance to be below par. Rumours about excess alcohol were not denied. Finally transmitted by BBC 6 Music by mistake in January 2003, this is taken from a 2020 rebroadcast. The dodgy edits are the fault of the BBC (cutting out John Peel's introduction and much of the between song ramblings). The original 2003 broadcast had more introductions and Maybe I'm Amazed was between Miss Judy's Farm and Three Button Hand Me Down.

A subsequent (better known) recording was done on 1st April 1973.

From my uncirculated recording to fill an etwin request (e-glimmer-twin ?), or e gemeau, or finally Igemo...

I did not shared this before because the recording is a bit distant and because i don't like this tour very much (to me they played too fast and they did much better work before). But still some good moments.

Recorded with Sonny TCD5 & a couple of Beyer M201 N mics.
